Glad to hear that!
thanks so much for the advice
Hello, I tried the embroidery thread but it shredded and got tangled, please provide which brand of thread or how to prevent thread from tangled ? thx so much
Try to pull the thread as you sew instead of just pulling at the end. Alternatively you can try to use waxed dental floss for sewing. Also, waxing the embroidery floss helps to prevent the thread from tangling. Hope this helps🙂
Thank you mam super idea
Welcome 😊
Will this xome out after washing ?
If done well, it should last some time. BUT, It's not a permanent repair of the hole. Rather a quick fix, temporary fix. Eventually it will come out in wash partially or entirely.
I lived in a rent alone in a town far away form my village I don't know how to sew my clothes but now I know hot sew the clothes because of u mam thank you 😊❤
Very long explanation
Dude I have low rise jeans will this work too?
Thank you it’s looks great I learned the best way to do it ❤
You’re welcome 😊 Glad I could help.
Hi Alice, thank you so much for your video. I'm a man and many of us aren't skilled with a sewing machine. My question is the following: If the original pants, or the jeans, come with a straight cut on the leg, is it necessary to make the new measurement with a diagonal cut or fold? Shouldn't it be straight too? Excuse my ignorance.
No. Usually, there is no need for diagonal cut regardless of the type of pants. But there are exceptions. As you can see in this tutorial, I pined front and back of the pants leg according to the type of shoes. Shoes are important when measuring for hem. Here I cut at diagonally to avoid extra unattractive puddle of fabric around the ankles. Hope this helps 🙂
@@SewingatHomeMom Thank you for your response and explanation, Best regards!
Hi, tried to do the same as you. A hole in the middle of the shoulder seam. The result is a closed hole but the sides have creases. It can be noticed that a hole has been sealed. Any suggestions?
Sorry, hard for me to suggest anything without seeing the problem... Probably I would try redoing it with smaller and tighter stitches and I would follow the original holes seam line to stay within the original seam allowance. Let me know how it went 🙂
How would one do this on jeans that have no pockets?
That's amazing! Thanks so much for that easy tip
Happy to help!
Thank you sooooooo much😊😊😊
wow that looks so easy i will try it
I learned something new. Very nicely done. Thank you.

Omg I was actually trying to stitch but when I finish and I pull the fabric the stitch gets off tysm
Great video, but I think you explained it too fast.
My now late mum loved sewing 😢. Today marks one year without her and am watching everything she loved❤❤
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Wishing you peace during this healing time ❤️🩹
@@SewingatHomeMom thanks😊
Ran stitch
I have a massive straight-cut tear and I will give this a try.
This sewing technique is pretty versatile and should be able to sew it shut. Let me know how it goes.
I did that but it's uneven
Growing up with no mom or grandma was very challenging. So greatful for youtube videos like this😊
Can you make a video showing how to end the hand sew😊
kzread.info/dash/bejne/lnqZxbRtqpisY8o.html This is the link to my detailed video on how to make a starting knot and an ending knot for hand sewing. Hope this helps
Lifesaver😊
That's 5 inches clothes 😅
parfait
I used this video to help me hand hem some pants for the first time. They turned out beautifully, and I didnt even have thread that matched well. Thank youuu 🙏🏻
Wonderful! Thank you for your feedback ☺️🫶
Love iit
Thank you! ☺️
Hey!...how do you deal with that little 5th pocket that jeans have? Do you cut out, work around it, etc? THANKS!!!
I would work around it - if possible - but that's me. Usually there are few factors to consider beforehand, for example: by how many inches you need to decrease the waist, are you taking the waist in temporarily or permanently. How thick is the fabric that you're working on. How much the inside bulk of the excess fabric bothers you after you take the pants waist in - things like that. As you see, it REALLY depends on each piece.Hope this helps 🙂
@@SewingatHomeMom THANK YOU for taking the time to reach out! 🙂And yes, I see what you're saying. Have a blessed day!
Very easy and useful tips 👍😊
Glad you liked it!
thank you so much- this is such a quick fix rather than removing the entire waistband!
Glad it helped!
Thank you that help me a lot 👏🏻👏🏻
Glad it helped! 😊
Hi , Thank you for the tutorial. I do not have those scissors so if I use this technique do I need to double fold the outside edge?
Yes, to secure the raw outside hem edge it's suggested to double fold the edge - if no other options are available. Also, there are couple hand stitches that seal fabric edges from fraying. To name a few: whip stitching/overstitch and overlock stitch which is a variation of the Blanket stitch
@@SewingatHomeMom Thank you so much
Brilliant - so simple - thanks.
You're welcome!
Nice teacher thank you
Thank you! You are wonderful😊
The best, Clear and expert, thank you!
Glad it was helpful and thank you for your good words!
Would this work on trousers as well?
Yes, it should. But keep in mind this sewing technique is suggested more for a temporary and easy-quick fix. If you're interested in more tailored look for your trousers, it's suggested to do the take in waist at the centre back of the trousers. The alteration does look complicated but with step by step tutorial, it can be done. It's suggested (in sewing) always try the garment on to see if it fits properly before you decide to cut any fabric off.
"Perfect"
Look nice after the alteration
I'm glad you think so! Thanks for watching🫶☺️
I love that your tutorial is long because you go intodetail 🤎
I'm super glad to hear that you like this follow along take in waist on jeans tutorial. Let me know how it works for you 🙂
@@SewingatHomeMom well I tried it on my shorts tried to take the back of the Waist and now I can’t get them back together again lol
Wow! I really needed these instructions! I bought some second hand dress pants for my husband and they came out too big. The size was right on the tag, but he can't wear them. I found videos of men putting on the trousers inside out and pinning where they fit but my husband isn't easy to pin down 😂. So the way you take a pair that is the right size and use them as a guide is a lifesaver for me. Thank you for sharing ❤.
I'm very glad you found this sewing instructions helpful! Let me know how it works for you🙂
I did the waist and the crotch area too and it came out perfect for the waist. The front crotch was exactly the same as his guide pants but I got the back crotch an inch longer. Figured it might be a bit baggy for him but not too bad. He tried them on and said they feel funny, like running up his crack. He adjusted them a bit and said, "it's like they're riding lower than my waist." I can't imagine how an inch longer would make this happen. He's going to use them as work pants and that's exactly what I bought them for so it's not a big problem. I have a pair of dress pants that need the same adjustments and I chose this pair to practice first. I will be making less adjustments on the crotch next time. Something about measurements isn't adding up, but I believe cutting less is best. It can always be cut more. Once you've cut too much, you can't put it back very easily. Thanks again for your instructions, they are a lifesaver!
As a guy, my mom is too busy to sew a shirt that i have, so i've been looking to see how to do it myself. This is what i was looking for. Thx. (I promise i do other chores around the house, just didnt know how to do this one. Just putting it out there incase people thought i was sitting around while begging my mom to do it lol).
That's one responsible person here. At least you are putting your effort to learn
