I had the 2005 a year ago and the aromas were really incredible. It had this intensely meaty umami nose that was like grilled meat. The palate was not as impressive for me, as it was a bit thin and short, but I remember myself putting my nose in the decanter and I couldn’t stop smelling it the whole night.

2009 was such an opulent vintage. 2010 is more structured and for the longer haul, but the 09's are so sexy!

I met Matthieu recently in NYC at the Union Grand Crus Bordeaux. I told him that I recognized him from the vertical tasting video with Yannick and that video inspired me to go out and buy a 2005 Lagrange, which was absolutely delicious. He was a very nice guy and was pleased to hear it 😊

2011 is a drinkers vintage. As the press quickly disregarded it, prices are accessible for us drinkers. I’ve had the ‘11 Conseillante which once again proved me that excellent producers make magic in the off-vintages.

I’ve only been lucky enough to try Pichon Lalande once in my life so far but it was at the 2020 Bordeaux Grand Cru tasting in nyc, including Pichon Baron, Lynch-Bages, Beychevelle, Giscours, etc. but no 1st growths. Pichon Lalande was BY FAR the best of the bunch out of approximately 100 wines tasted that evening. That’s saying a lot, considering 80% of the wines there were so similar to each other that I couldn’t really tell much difference, but Pichon Lalande, Pichon Baron, Lynch Bages, and Beychevelle were the ones that stood out for me.

These are Sydonios brand. 1970, if the bottle is in good condition and always stored properly, you could expect a very mature wine with lots a tertiary notes. Still some structure but not many fruits left. But will be a joy to drink for a 1970’s wine.

@thewinearchive Жыл бұрын
18 is quiet an approachable vintage. You can drink in now if you can’t wait. But i suggest to decant it for 1-2 hours. But my advice for storage is at least 5-8 year. Older vintages of Lagrange aren’t that expensive as well on auctions or grey market so you will get amazing value still.
