I've heard something about people burning their damaged property in Detroit just to sell (?) off whatever they can to insurance? You can probably Google it, but I don't know the specifics

People don't feel bad for her. She is a vile human who never loved her children. One was sold for 2 bucks, so she could play bingo. Other three became forced workers or bed toys (if you get what i mean🤢). The mother met up with two of her children later and said she didn't regret it one bit as the man she was cheating with didn't want her children, and she loved him more than her own kids. Worst of all, she married the affair partner and had four children with him whom she loved dearly. She didn't care what happened to the other five. They all hate her and told she deserved to burn in the depths of the bad place. The only child that had a good life was the baby as the baby was bought by a loving couple and had a good childhood. I dont understand how people can justify her actions. Plenty of people are poor, but they dont sell their children. In the worst-case scenario, they are sent to live with family because parent(s) dont want them to be homeless too. It's your child. Yes the great depression was horrible but people didnf sell their children .

I feel sorry for the parents for falling on hard times but the solution would have been to seek help from a charity or to ask that their children be adopted by a good family

So slavery was still going on because many People in that time and Era would make kids work on farms soon as they are old enough. Many of these kid were abused beaten and starved and worked for nothing.I did a little research. I would like to know what happen to these kids here.
