I highly recommend using tornado, shield, or flame sword. The reason is to allow your skills to come back off cool down or you will run out of steam

I want point out one thing about the build people dont talk about much is 3 of you skill have an evade tag. Air 5 fire 3 and earth 3. Being in close with d/d and heavy dps you want to get in scenarios where you are swapping dps or cc with you opponent with these skills.

For ftp just swap cata for fire line. Your condition removal is also better in fire. You can also get another burst from fire trait line. I know the build has alot cc but FA is better than rod for pure burst and better up time on skill sense you are weaving attunement. I have played a version of this build for 10 years. Disgusting burst. First time opposing team puts a target on me. Ok to pick up and feel good at, must be bonkers on actually good mesmers (I had 5 on mesmer and less than 150 total games when I tried this today). Will it be nerfed or the downside (lack of sustain) makes it ok? Im having a shitload of fun stacking confusion as high as I can atm.

My fave condi mesmer build i made is virt/dueling/illusions i think, with staff/Dagger pistol. Absolutely melt people. For people having trouble against condi, just run more defensive utility/condi cleanse. It really isnt as strong as it seems if the persons build handles condi well or entirely counters it.

The amount of sustain you get is minimal relative to how much burst damage you lose. If you want a little more sustain, swap sword for scepter so you have the block

From times u can indeed avoid that amount of confusion stack burst but the times it isn't it's too strong. So it's either too strong during such times or not really. So if they would lower it in a healthy way, and same time add something for the lose of then I think mesmer is still fine and more reliable

It is as Engal type earlier. But it doesn't mean that torment and confusion didn't do any damage if the target is moving or not casting spells/abilities

I can do that now with Virt. Many melt and some class just shrug it off.
It's fun to play, have tried it, that said, I tried the same idea on Untamed and it's very good, hits hard and is tanky.

plat 3 Scourge here dont know what are you talking about .... Scourge is gr8 good condi good support good survivability alot of barrior to me and to group alot of condi clean , coruption , can CC with stun , fear and knokdown . have good mobility with rune of lynx and trail of anguish or spectral walk . its mybe not GOD tire or S but its solid A

The main strength of creaper is the unblockable shout, having your cc and main damage skills be unblockable is very strong. Its probably the shout thats guaranteed to get nerfed

So I play 100% action cam and I playing without autotargeting makes me want to pull my hair out. I disabled promote skill target and that seems to be enough for me to use mobility skills whenever I want. Any advice for action cam enjoyers? Is there another setting I can modify that will make disabling autotargeting fathomable?

Damage mitigation should be multiplicative. They changed it like 2 years back when revenant could get 100% in pve.

What about Dark Defiance? I feel with the amount of time I spend in CC it is better than extra condi/power damage - as you said, most important is to not die (and it's very easy to get bursted as a new reaper player)

3 seconds of protection every 35 seconds is pretty minimal compared to 300 power and 300 condition damage; the condition damage reduction is nice but you don't really struggle into condi pressure on reaper, power classes like rev or ranger are much more threatening. If you're struggling vs condition damage you can always swap your rune to get more condition damage reduction or take offhand dagger for an extra transfer.
