When you go to set the hook wait 5 seconds Also white is a great color to catch snakes My two favorite colors for them is white or black
That toad looks cool, but the body is kind of thick. (I pulled it up on Amazon) I'm not sure the hookup ratio is all that good. Zoom horny toads work well because they are thinner. What launch did you use if you don't mind sharing? Absolutely gorgeous morning.
I've used the toad to good effect on largemouth in the past, but yes, it is a bit thick for a lot of snakeheads to eat properly. They have rather small mouths for their size. As for the launch, I've been to five different spots on the Rapp at this point, and I can confidently say that if you find the pads and hydrilla, you'll find them... kinda want to keep this spot to myself for a little longer haha.
Going to this very lake in a few weeks......I hope to share in that success. Great catch.
instead of using lure i would recommend bait for catching snake head, try once u wont regrat it .

Your juices had to be flowing after that first hit
Every. Single. Time.
What a great morning to be alive and fishing
Buy a boat
Great job, Adam! Gettn' it done.
Muy buen video bro
That lily pad field is alive at high tide, directly across river from marina
Tried the garlic shrimp while I was at Cap J. Beach Marina two weeks ago, caught flathead, channel and blue cat up to 15 lbs, one rod broken, yellow perch found it tasty as well. Fish on brother
It's a go-to bait when I'm bottom fishing, either in fresh or saltwater. I've even caught smallies on garlic shrimp before.
It's about 90% luck if you're using mono or fluoro leader for bluefish. They'll bite through 50lb leader just the same as 25lb. If you want to have a shot at some real giants, make stinger rigs with light wire and free line live spot around the docks in rudee. my biggest is 36" doing that
we call that the sound of freedom
My dad used to fly, and I've called it the same thing since I was a kid.
OMG...this was a GREAT video. It was a video truly of how it is in reality when people go fishing. I know when the fish break-off I curse and fuss too.
Great video man! I was on the edge of my seat with every hook up! Those breakoffs were painful lol.. Great catch on that one blue!
Yup, white perch. Pretty sure i recognize the lake, but it's been many years since i fished it. Starts with a B if I'm not mistaken
I can neither confirm nor deny that it starts with a "B"... hahaha
Nice video! There are plenty of good tackle shops in the area you were in; to include Oceans East and West Marine to name a few!
If it's open, I hit Oceans East every time I'm in the area. I love that shop.
You guys killed it. Just starting fishing. Any tips for lake Burke for beginnners ?
I've only been there that one time, myself, but fishing the points and dropoffs if you can this time of year. There are plenty of places to hit from shore if you don't have a kayak or small boat, too.
That cat 35 minutes in was beautiful, ton of fun
Am going to be at my friend's boat in Occoquan harbor in 6 days, the docks are always loaded with multi species. I use Hebrew National hot dogs for cats, biggest one was 12 and have been spooled twice. Back this year with heavier equip. See you on the water
I feel ya on the music, I dont think the fish like Celine Dion either lol. Nice vid! I gotta go hit up the occoquan one of these days soon with my fly rod. I assume its all sub-surface rigs or are you also throwing some topwater?
I usually toss a mix of everything in my bag. Most of the fish were hitting swimbaits and grubs, though.
At 19 minutes in you were in front of the marina where I stay when I'm there. Very cool, good water, see you out there
We used to rent a jon for 5 bucks a day and the last time I was there, 1976 I think was 7.50.
Wow brother, my teen years were spent renting a jonboat and fishing from Fountainhead, my good friend Tom and myself. Fished Burke lake and Manassas, the 70's were great. I'll holler when I'm back out there, live in south central Texas currently.
what did u catch the lake trout on
1/16th oz Panther Martin spinner.
Awesome video! really enjoyed the laid back commentary. I have been 2-3 times to the Res and haven't been able to catch anything yet, looks like I need to go early and hit it with the spinnerbait! Did you go towards the dam in this video? Cheers!
Yeah, I headed towards the dam from Fountainhead. Next time I go, I might head up towards Bull Run... but it's hard to choose when there is such a LOT of water to cover using just a kayak haha.
You're in tidal water right?
Yeah, It's tidal all the way up to the dam that's right above those rocks. I'm not super experienced at fishing tidal waters, but I've been trying to use charts and things to learn more about how to fish it better.
Hey brother, my buddy has a boat in a slip near where you are fishing and my last time there was catching yellow perch, blue and channel cats and largemouth uo to 4 lbs. You are having a good day. be back out there in a month
I might see you there!
Are they wide or more narrow fitting?
Gran invasor
Nice I’m headed out there this weekend it’ll be my first time
Good luck!
I have this pack. It’s a great pack with plenty of room for what you need. Very comfortable and easy to get into.
new sub good stuff
good job bro keep it going
If that's a pine plywood, I would be weary about unwanted flavor from the wood itself, (some toxins also).
Buena esa
Great Video!!
Man, I thought you were going in. I was nervous watching that lol.
I really feel like I got lucky that day. It could have been so much worse.
I have been in some situations like that. Only for me it was on a bay in the salt, and wind(and some tide action) was the issue. I basically had to find a somewhat protected area and wait it out so that I wouldn't be blown miles and miles away from the launch area I needed to return to. Was one of those days when the forecast got it completely wrong. I hold a bigger respect for how those elements can ruin your day on a low power craft with limit thrust capabilities now.
Yeah, I've been caught in several crappy/dumb/idiot situations in the past, and I've been lucky enough to come away with some new knowledge and respect for how fast things can change, and how to adapt in the future. There are times when the best teacher in the entire world is failure.
I have been crabbing those waters since 1995. It gets crowded now a days. Good luck!
It can get a little bit silly on the weekends, but It's still a great place to find them if you can get there during the week. I think it's going to be a good season.
Big, big thanks to you! You’ve made a very important point I was looking for, but wasn’t able to get in many videos. The majority of bloggers are focused on how to prepare a stuffing, but just running through the smoking process with sharing no details. Thanks fore smoking time and temperature regime.
Gran rio muy qncho
Your in a olive boat, next to a brown bank, slightly tucked behind a major rock cliff on a slow bend in the river, in the major channel guys run to go up river. Go there this summer when the ski boats push 5’ wakes lol you will wish it was just jet boats running by you then
Gran captura
Buena pesca
THERE HE IS!
Looks like a Bending Branches paddle. I have the same one.
Yup, Angler Pro. Absolutely fantastic paddle for long days on the water.
Nice. Where did you launch at?
I was up near Williamsport, MD.
@@go2outdoors I live in Leesburg VA and fish the river, ponds and lakes. Both from the kayak on a slayer propel 10 and from a 15' aluminum 60 Jet.
