Thank you for the video and for flagging this issue. I've watched some tutorials which talk about bookstores refusing to buy books if the author does not accept returns. Yet you mentioned that you have no problem making sales. So now I'm a bit confused. I was under the impression that accepting returns is a requirement if I want to sell my books. Would you be able to talk more about this, perhaps in future videos? I'm just starting out, and cannot imagine having to pay for 300 books plus shipping to Europe where I live...
Hi Anna, I'll make another video on this. You're right, you can limit your chances of your book being brought by bookstores but you need to weigh up the Pro's and Con's. Too many to go into here so video will be best. I choose 'No' to returns so nearly all my sales would be coming from online stores around the globe and not brick & mortar stores.

Thanks for the fantastic video. I wondered if publisher Rocket is worth purchasing when I only have one book which is fiction? I'm mainly interested in getting keywords, the category info lost me a bit so will need to watch again. Also, when I put the words in the kdp keyword box, is it better to put one phrase eg, 'gritty fiction for women', or to put in various phrases in the same box, and does the order of wording matter? Sorry, quite a few questions there😁
Only get Publisher Rocket if your planning on publishing a few books also just play around by placing several phrases and keywords and extract the data.

How did you upload your cover to canva. I have several covers that were made in canva and want to made the mock-ups also using canva but cant get it to work.
I made the cover in Canva therefore saved it as a PNG.
So, you can NOT create a book cover entirely in book bolt? Also, how to change the interior pages (add background, elements, frames)??
You can but so clunky and hard to do. Canva is better.

I'd choose Thinkific if you want more control over pricing and being able to collect the email address of your students: try.thinkific.com/RomneyOMF I'd choose Udemy if you want greater reach and haven't got the time to market your courses. Udemy have control over your pricing though.

I saw your image in the twins sales seminar so you have grown from padawan to publishing master. I was putting it off until the end of the year (making a course) but this video is the kick in the rear I need to get started making courses. All comes down to the quality of your book, your launch plan and marketing. If you fail at any one of thee 3 your books will not sell.

Hello Romney, thanks to you I started publishing books on Ingram as well. I also bought your course in the past, if you remember. However, I have a problem in that I do not know what settings to make in Ingram Spark, to exclude from publication on KDP the books that I have already published there. Please help me to solve this situation. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
I've not had to exclude books from publication on kDP before so i suggest you contact Ingram Support to assist with this.

Try searching for it on the US (.com) website. Sometimes for whatever reason they don't always show up?

I purchase my 'own' ISBN as use that same ISBN for both IngramSpark and KDP. I've not used the free KDP ISBN for about 2 years.
Hi Romney, These ISBNs are doing my head in and I need clarification. I have used Amazons free ISBN to publish my book. From what I can gather you can't have 2 ISBN for the same book. So if I purchase an ISBN and slap that on my book, I can have one ISBN and publish on two platforms. My question is will Amazon allow me to change the ISBN to the bought one and if yes will I loose all the reviews gained with the free ISBN?
Hi Joe, in essence, Yes, you can have one ISBN for the 'exact same book' on both platforms. Amazon will NOT permit you to change the ISBN if you have already used their free one.

As far as I know, if you've used a free ISBN from Amazon, then you can't use that (you'd need to purchase a new ISBN), but otherwise Amazon KDP doesn't have an exclusivity agreement with you. As long as you own the rights to the book, you can publish it wherever you like.

Good video. However you did not address the crux of the video title which kinda gave the impression you were showing a systematic way to do "niche research". You started off well but then got lost along the way. Maybe there is no systematic way and it is actually a bit of "touch and feel" approach to find a good niche..

Hi, I am just doing research on the best way for me to publish my childrens book and am also located in Australia. My aim is firstly to get my book out there and for that I want it to be in all my local schools and libraries. I was just wondering if you (or anyone reading this) can get libraries to stock your KDP published childrens books? I understand that you need an independent ISBAN not a free KDP ISBAN but I just asked my local library and they said they don't purchase books self published through Amazon.
If you want your book in libraries, then yes, you must purchase a unique ISBN for your book, load it to IngramSpark. You can always approach other libraries to stock your book HOWEVER, it must be a high quality book with a track record of sales. They don't just stock anyones books! Major Publishing Houses also get priority.

Hi, just wanted to clarify your income numbers you showed in this youtube video - you mentioned how there are no direct costs involved, like advertising ! - yet, would there not be RETURNS of unsold books from these various book stores etc - do they significantly reduce those income figures you mentioned ? And then there is the issue with those books that ingranspark have 'pushed' through to Amazon - assuming you have an account with Amazon, and therefore would run ads - yet these ads would not be reflected in the the incomes stats provided by ingramspark !? We thinks maybe a more comprehensive explanation would go a long way as to maintain high-levels of clear transparency, don't you agree ?
Yogi. To address your 'transperency' issues. Returns - I just set these to 'NO' on Ingram. Therefore i have no returns. Amazon - Yep, have an account with Amazon but I advertise only 2 books (2 x childrens books) on AMS. To be transparent again, on Ingram, those books sales totaled 14 during that 60 day period and they were for the hardcopy versions via Ingram. All paperbacks were sold o Amazon directly. So there you have it Yogi Bear, from Boo Boo.

Yes because I wanted to outline that most expect instant results from publishing but it can take 12 months+ to begin to get traction!
