Wayne, I am a friend of Brenton's, if you are anywhere near Amarillo, you are welcome to a shower and a place to camp, I have a shop and room to spare. I might even ride a day or two with you.
ok sounds good
You might need a fella on an old ST1100 following you around for a while, just until the bike proves itself ;)
The closest I've been to a Goldwing was my 2001 Valkyrie Interstate 1500 with 6 carburetors, OMG. Terrific bike in many ways but handling sucked compared to my previous bike, a '71 Honda 750. When I bought the Valkyrie I hadn't ridden for 20 years but I had the itch to get back into riding. My wife insisted on me taking the advanced riders safety course. In my mid 50's then, August 2002 or 3 in Tampa, very hot and humid, all day long, almost killed me but I passed. The other 15 or 20 bikes were all mid-sized Harleys. Anyway, at the time I associated Harleys with Hells Angels and Hooligans and wanted nothing to do with them but, ironically, I have owned the biggest Harley made, the Ultra Classic for 15 years now. Weighs a ton like the previous generation Goldwings but handling is very good. By the way, the Advanced Rider's Course was given by two police officers, one on the biggest BMW K1600 made at the time and the other on a huge Goldwing. These guys flicked and flew their bikes around the course as if they were weightless. Very impressive what can be done with training, practice and experience. Enjoy your videos.
Pretty much every gl1500 part, regardless of the year, will fit every GL 1500. The kickstand safety switch will take away your engines fire instantly when in motion. Them old flat 6's are very durable. Its a pain to figure out, but glad you made it purr around again!!
If you have old gear you need to know how it works and have patience when things fail OR a fat bank account. I know quite a few people that had to literally take their old bikes apart over many year to know what each nut & bolt does so that they could fix just about any issue they could have on the road. We are talking about lighter and easier to work on bikes here then your Gold Wing but unless you got the coin to take it to the shop THAT's generally what it takes to keep old gear running. Lets hope that this is the LAST issue you have with the Wing on your trip !
Love your videos!
Hey man, good to see you again. Good luck on the trip.
Mine did the same thing all I did was sand the contacts and has been fine since!
Thanks Ya it seems ok now
Wayne, this is the fella I told you ride a wing a lot up here. He had the same problem. If he says sand the contacts...that's the ticket
Nice bike, I'm glad you figured it out. can't wait to see the trip.
Yes man, I have a 2017 Road Glide Special that I’ve put 105,000 miles on since new. The last 2.5 yrs I’ve only put prolly 10k on. But the first 4 yrs I put 25 to 30k a yr on it! I’ve been as far south as key west and D.C up the east coat and as far west as Montana visiting Yellowstone. Slow speeds 7:31 on that bike should not be any different than any other bike (if you know how to clutch and rear brake only at speeds below 10mph.) My bike hasn’t been in the shop yet for motor work and I’d ride it to Alaska tomorrow if need be. Ain’t nothing like riding a touring bike for long distance! I hope you enjoy it!
Stators are know to go bad on Goldwings a lot also. Hope you don’t run into that problem.
she sounded really good hope it goes well for yo cheers
gorgeous content. 🙂
I've been there let me tell you.. I like all motorcycles of course they all have the problems.. but when you get ones you got to take half of it apart to fix it..😮😮😮
I hear Ya
Stay positive. Thanks for good friends and family you can trust when in need.
So glad you were able to run down the issue. Can be very frustrating at the time. Excited to follow you on your adventure. All the best.
THANKS I APPRECIATE YOU THERE WITH ME
I got one and they are great bikes. I would put a voltage display somewhere on it because the alternators are it and miss. Mine only has 26,000 miles on it and I've already replaced two.
I have heard that I will do that plus I will be bringing a brand new one along with me in the Bag for sure
Are we there yet?😂
very nice i love my gl1500se !!!
Love the G-Dub
thanks bro
Thats the bike fir long distance travel. Hard to beat a Honda. Ray
I bought an 06 goldwing last summer. 15k miles. $6500. I love it but stealth camping almost isn't going to happen if you gotta get off pavement. Not impossible but definitely more tricky. I might get a trailer for mine since it came with a hitch.
👍🏍️👍✌️😊👋👋
Get some wizard glass cleaner for that Windshield.
Was wondering what to use thanks I will
Great bike!
I did exactly that in 2015. Flew to NY from Oz, bought a 98 Wing and hit the road without even doing any kind of service to it. Only issue I had over the 17000Km I put on the bike in 3 month was a blown tyre (again, unbelievably foolish from me to never even look / kick the tyres in the morning when I set off) at which point I had them change oil while it was in the shop anyway. Other then that it just ran like a Honda / Toyota. Put fuel in it and turn the key...no need to ever worry about it. You'll be fine...rsm8 (PS: that trip is amateurishly documented on my KZread channel)
OK cool Ill check it out
Good trade.
I've owned golding before. Great bike. Solid choice for road trip. Not so sure trying to boondock with that beast. But I know ol Wayne will put it to the test.
Those big ole wings are great trip bikes. They are heavy at a stop but the good side is your legs will get a workout lol. Thanks for sharing bud.
I hope so
That Wing isn’t even broken in. I had one with many more miles. You’re good to go.
thank you I/ll take your word for it ..lol
Nice
With those miles if it has been well maintained at $1500 it is a steel.
Coffee cup holder! What else you need buddy!? ;)
Cup Holder and phone holder I'm golden
No problem should do that 10 times if maintenance has been kept up, I've got one just like it and the more I drive it the more I like it! They are a beast below 5 mph once going sit back and enjoy the ride.
I agree all research shows that
That sounds like an epic trip. NY to the peoples republic of California and back. good luck.
Coffee and how we do it is intrinsic to each of us. I will stick with the Melita. Its worked well for me for 45 years.
Its alot cheaper to grind my coffee and i can make my own blend if i want. I bought a little press and thats the only way i go. Thanks for sharing man.
I am on your uploads like white on rice. just saying.
I jump on a Wayne's Diaries upload like a bum on a quarter! Who am I kidding...I AM a bum looking for quarters and 10 cent can deposits! Lol ;)
LIKE A PITBULL ON A PODDLE LOL
@@thewaynediaries blahahahaha!!! Even better ;) lol
I hope you find an adventure bike…but if not that bike is sweet!
For tht price, the condition, and LOW miles, and by Yamaha, I wouldn't think of trading it. I have an '04 Harley Low Rider set-up almost exactly like yours with 6K miles on it, and looks like brand new. I'm 80, and I'm keeping it.
I got the relocation kit on mine don't regret one minute of it screw filter off screw new one on. Worth the money
Ya I see those I'm sure its well worth it to make oil changes easy and quick Thanks BRO
Great looking bike.
Looks like a good deal.
Nice one
Looks good! Back to riding!
Nicely done!
Wayne give us a little run down on the bike
OK I WILL ON THE NEXT VID
I've got a pair of vice grips for your kit buddy
OK cool Ill be building a kit this summer
But where will you put the chickens??? LOL, looking forward to it
