Not to condone the crowd's behavior, but I for one couldn't believe they stopped the race, and a driver that didn't manage to keep control was given the win. Conditions weren't that different to 1987, in fact the track wasn't even blocked like it was then. Right call would have been to deploy the pace car.

You can see why series like this die on their asses due to escalating costs. Piss poor management allow a grid full of touring cars look like a mod prod grid. Other than safety equipment and brake pad material change. If it ent fitted on the car you buy, you ent bloody using it.

What a dice Richards & Johno 680/700 hp on tape a wet ,the 4wd Nissan had the edge in these conditions. Back in an era when Bathurst was exciting , the drivers largely controlled the raceout come not rules & regulations or some tec on a computer in the pits.

CAMS made sure their brand ruled Bathurst . Ford people won’t like it but when they did win group C it was unexpected and upset CAMS head office. 1973 … BROCK Torana ran out of fuel. 1974 ….. Toranas broke down when leading. 1977…. A9X was unreliable and 13 Toranas had mechanical failure . Ford’s Factory support withdrawn . So there was nobody to beat

I was a flag marshal at the spot where Longhurst first hit the wall, and it was right in front of me. He hit it at over 100mph, way faster than it would appear from the footage. All I saw was the initial bang, and then the wrecked car's momentum carrying it all the way down to the next marshals' post, trailing smoke and debris. In following years at the race I saw the concrete barrier that took the impact, with an impressive series of circular impressions scrolling all the way along it from the wheels digging into the concrete. And man, those M3's were LOUD!

Massive crash, tv crew jump onto a live track to check how much blood there is, and conduct interviews before the medics get to the drivers and then the coverage does a montage with Guns n Roses playing. What a time to watch a race 😮😮😮
