    Is there a good way to transpose this song to G using standard tuning? If so, how would you play it?

  • @JonHoltMusic
    @JonHoltMusic8 күн бұрын

    You could just move the capo down one fret to 3 instead of 4, and shift the fret numbers that I’m saying in the walkthrough down one fret too.

    Triads are so insanely powerful in worship music. Nice lesson and it only scratches the surface of what learning these shapes can do for your playing. On another note, your tone is so stinking good, man. I recently moved my wet effects in to the FX loop of my rig and I'm finding that I need to re-approach almost every component of my tone.

  • @JonHoltMusic
    @JonHoltMusic15 күн бұрын

    For real! This concept is super foundational for basically every aspect of worship music. It’s kinda crazy how often what you hear on albums stems from a simple concept like this. That’s awesome! Love to hear that you’re experimenting with your tone. I’ve been tweaking a lot of stuff on my board too. Once you make one change you’ve gotta adjust for it across the rest of the board lol 😂 how are you liking the sound of your fx in the loop?

  • @MattyRocco
    @MattyRocco15 күн бұрын

    I notice that my reverb and delay sounds far more high-def when in the loop. It's not getting distorted and compressed by the preamp, so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of these big box effects, which I like. However it means that the settings where I was relying on that extra grit from the effects when hitting the front of the amp isn't there now so I really need to re-think my gain staging. Also, because the effects are more pronounced, I feel like I need to dial them back a bit in order to really nail what I'm looking for. Always something to tweak!

    How do you make the dual digital delay? Is it like a dotted 8th with a 1/4 note delay?

  • @JonHoltMusic
    @JonHoltMusicАй бұрын

    Yeah! I run my delays with the Zoia on my board. I have one delay line set to dotted 8th hard panned to one side, and another delay set to 1/4 notes hard panned to the other side. It just makes your guitar sound wider and gives some variation to the stereo field.

    Jon this is so helpful!! I really want one of those Masterminds for my analog pedals as I'm sick of doing the tap dance when worshipping, makes it so difficult to focus on worshipping!

  • @JonHoltMusic
    @JonHoltMusic17 күн бұрын

    It's definitely worth it in my opinion! I would much rather spend time building a preset before rehearsal once for every new song, than have to dance around the pedalboard every single time we play that song. It completely helps me focus more on worship and less on performance. 🙌 Switchers can be expensive, but if you save up for it over time, it's a purchase you won't regret. I'll never build another pedalboard without one again!

  • @JonHoltMusic

    Make sure to have fun with it! You don’t have to play it any specific way as long as it fits the song. You should definitely try to get your hands on a capo tho. They’re useful for lead guitar too, not just open chords and rhythm.

    @@JonHoltMusic I don’t like how a capo trashes frets. I do have one, I only use it for setting neck relief. Just not my thing. I figured out a part up around the eighth fret, the worship leader is happy to drone Ab on acoustic.
