One of the greatest comedies and philosophical films of all time. So glad my Dad showed this to me as a kid.

Around 7:00 it sounds similar to "White Army, Black Baron". I haven't seen this movie, but Richard Harvey is a great composer

Why did 90s movies have the best instrumental soundtracks? Even comedies and family movies were epic. They used to really put a lot of heart and soul into the music.

Ho parlato a Dio. E poi..

Since the age of four (1970) I spent most of my childhood Summers at my Grandparents' house. After the bear hugs, I would dash over to the great big cabinet stereo and pull The Big Country soundtrack out from the other record albums. My grandfather would say, " There he goes, off to his favorite place." I loved Westerns. I would play this and other theme songs as the background to my playing with plastic cowboys and Indians. Every day of every year, from the time I could read, I would look through the TV Guide for this movie. Finally in 1976, it was going to air on television. My Grandfather dished us up bowls of ice cream that night. I was so excited to finally see this movie. I was not disappointed. Great night! It would be another 13 years before I watched it again. I rented the VHS copy. This would actually be my first time seeing it without commercial breaks. That evening, the movie was suddenly interrupted. My wife was going into labor. My beautiful daughter was born (1989). I did eventually watch the movie with the sound down low so I didn't wake her. Over the years, I hinted to my wife and kids what would make a great gift for me. This movie and soundtrack. But sadly, they failed the assignment at every opportunity. Now I can stream both whenever I want!
