    I think we might never be able to fully grasp the highest patterns with any system we come up with, because we are part of these patterns. We are fundamentally limited, I think the highest pattern we can grasp is probably one describing ourselves and how we function, and that would be mightily impressive, but describing truth itself, the whole truth, seems far off... if not impossible. I think Gödels Incompleteness applies to brain structures as well (although maybe not to all brain structures, quantum weirdness could change our understanding of that soon). Anyway, very cool stuff, keep it uo 🙌

    Thanks Vincnt, I appreciate it! Yeah, I agree, we'll probably never fully understand the highest patterns. Pattern recognition and "mastery" as I call it, is something more like understanding the pattern enough to use it effectively and expertly (relative to the average person let's say) - so mastery relative to everyone else's ability in that particular area. Truth, Love, Logos etc - when you really dig into it, they're so complex it makes your head feel like it's going to explode lol, but you're sitting there like child in the sand with a plastic shovel on the very surface - even the greatest thinkers out there have probably only scratched the tip of the iceberg.

    You don't need science to figure out morality, and you certainly don't need religion or "religious language".

  • @JoshRueff

    Thanks for the comment Bloink, I think our difference is likely rooted in the definition of "religious language" and/or our understanding of metaphysics. When I say "religious language" I'm describing the literal, figurative/metaphorical/symbolic/archetypal, analogical, and mythological language we use to discuss and describe religious concepts, beliefs, experiences, etc. I think we do need religious language to discuss/describe objective morality, how else can you effectively ground objective morality? You need a metaphysical foundation.

    @@JoshRueff I feel pain, and observe that others do too. We are biologically compelled to further eachothers interests to in turn further our own, for our selves, our kids and loved ones. So, we get together to agree on what is right and wrong, based on what causes suffering, and what helps people avoid it. There you go, a metaphysical foundation for right and wrong. In fact, that's how we all go about it. You don't go to scripture to tell you that pulling down someone's pants in public is wrong. You simply imagine how you would feel, and there you go. Furthermore, if you were in a society where being naked is completely fine, magically, pulling down pants is actually not that bad all the sudden. Morality is fluid, it's relative, and complex.

    @@Bloink Hey man, good stuff. We probably won't be able to really get into it properly on this platform, but we can at least get a few important points in (I'm hoping to move conversations like this to discord or something like that at some point). With that said, first, to be clear, right now I’m not talking about the moral decisions downstream of objective morality - that's a critical conversation too, but I’m talking about the truly objective morality that exists separate from our thoughts, reasoning, opinions. Also, I don’t think people who hold your position are dumb or lack the ability to be moral, there are many great thinkers (and probably genuinely good people) on both sides of this argument. So that’s where I’m coming from. Ok, let’s see.. “So, we get together to agree on what is right and wrong… There you go, a metaphysical foundation for right and wrong.” What you’re describing here sounds a lot like subjective relativity - “my opinion vs yours” basically - which has a very weak foundation if you can call it that - it lacks a metaphysical foundation for morality and truth. Using this logic, my opinion is just as valid as yours because there’s no objective truth. When people say there is no objective morality, no objective truth - it’s fluid, relative, there are no absolutes, that's a logical fallacy. It’s self-refuting. Do you see what I mean?

  • @JoshRueff
    @JoshRueff4 күн бұрын

    @@Bloink Also, while I agree to a certain degree that "we are biologically compelled to further each others interests to in turn further our own, for our selves, our kids and loved ones", we're also often biologically compelled to further our own interests in a way that hurts others. Hitler, Mao, Stalin and many other leaders were biologically compelled to further their own interests at the expense of others - they all got together with their people to agree on what they thought was right and wrong and in their best interest, and it led to genocide and some of the world's greatest atrocities. At the end of the day, when it's just one opinion vs another's at the global level it becomes might makes right. The foundation of subjective relativism is too fragile.

    Better question- how about starting over at 65? Lost everything. Money. How do I not end up homeless? You can start from where you are. I have. But I can’t start over savings and investments again because the formula is for long term over a lifetime of planning. The biggest problems may not just be ourselves or our own choices but also how treacherous other human beings can behave in order to get what they want even at the expense of someone they claim to love. Maybe our seeking love and belonging and maybe even dangerous? And maybe Soplosky is right and there is no such thing as free will? Despite enormous hardships, I have taught myself how to love and accept me unconditionally and to forgive my failures and shortcomings. I am concerned for my financial health and future. Theft is a problem. And so is betrayal. We live in a world where we are vulnerable to the psychology of all humans including and especially those in our families. Life can turn into a real shit show. But, Peterson is right and one can rebuild if one takes a decisive stance to do at least one thing everyday to head in the direction of improvement. I turned my life around. It wasn’t easy. Sure I live with some pretty intense regrets. But I have a lot to be proud of and I did pretty good given everything life threw at me. We don’t all get our dreams fulfilled. And wealth, (while better than poverty) isn’t the end all. In fact plenty of wealthy people just got lucky and they also have screwed up unhappy lives. I’ll agree again with Peterson, bitterness is awful. Dont allow yourself to become bitter. It’s a slow creep and you can do something to intervene on your behalf by being aware of your attitude towards yourself and life. Let it all go. Forgive mostly yourself. Forgive others when it helps you personally to move on. Find what is right in each day and then build a practice of gratitude. Ignore the one asshole driver on the road who just cut you off and instead pay attention to the other 30 drivers who are doing great. Infuse some degree of joy in each day. Exercise your body on purpose, stand and walk more than sitting, choose the leafy greens and clean protein first. Limit or eliminate sugar. Take exceptionally good care of you! Do one thing everyday you think might help you attain your best life. Don’t give up.

    *Pattern recognition and mastery = competence. (Patterns meaning archetypal patterns, symbolic patterns, etc.) And competence brings with it success, love, power, status, joy, peace and much more. Religious language (the Bible, tradition, etc) is rich with these patterns, and Jung reveals many of them. These religious/archetypal/symbolic patterns are primal images and motifs that recur across cultures and epochs, including symbols like the cross, the mandala, the serpent, or the tree of life. These symbols carry deep psychological, higher meaning and wisdom. Understanding this language is what sets thinkers like Jordan Peterson apart and makes their work so valuable, but when people like Dawkins encounter it, the first response is often skepticism at best. In Dawkins' case, skepticism and ridicule (calling Peterson "drunk on symbols"). For all the respect I have for Dawkins, it's hard to watch someone as intelligent as him discuss the things he knows so little about; the religious language of symbolism, archetypal patterns, the symbolic world etc. It was interesting to hear Peterson's take on it, especially on memes vs archetypes and Dawkins' apparent lack of knowledge/understanding in the world of patterns and symbols.

    Shadow integration isn't about doing bad, it's about becoming aware of things you have repressed and integrating those things - if you find something you consider evil in your shadow, like unhealthy sexual desires let's say for example, you don't act out those desires, but you do integrate them, by recognizing the healthy side of that sexual desire and acting it out (as a catholic that would be having healthy sex with your wife or husband). Hopefully that helps!

It depends on the interpretation - some consider that a call to pacifism or something along those lines, but within the context of the NT you have Christ driving people out of the temple with a whip and overturning tables, and he also tells the disciples to arm themselves (carry swords), so the message here, while admittedly difficult, is likely much more nuanced than many assume.

    Jordan is making all of this up. reminds me of a Star Trek TNG episode. Jordan needs to address as part of a disciplinary probation order, a period of suspension may be imposed prior to the effective date of the probation. The Board's Disciplinary Guidelines provide details of the conditions under which a suspension may be made a part of the probation order. During suspension, licensees may not practice psychology or refer to themselves as psychologists. As indicated above in "Probation," suspensions are considered disciplinary actions associated with probation orders and, as such, are public information and provided to consumers upon request. Jordan is a Frasier Crane wannabe. He is an entertainer not a psychologist. Because he sells books and videos and lectures, THAT IS NOT THERAPY. He needs to address his bad conduct in courts in the case of Case 1 Sordi v. Sordi, 2009 CanLII 80104 (ON SC) he defamed a parent in court. In the case 2 R. v. Pearce, 2012 MBQB 22 (CanLII) he tried to free a murderer. Then in the case Peterson v. College of Psychologists of Ontario, 2023 ONSC 4685, he tried to avoid taking responsibility. He also tried to interfere in a family court case in Montana, the Kolstadt case, where there was a GAG order, he unprofessionally diagnosed a minor without interviews or assessments, and tried to defend unfit parents.

    Yahweh is not Jesus. Jesus vs Yahweh on KZread. Power back in prayer. Tell-A-Vision. The keys. When the Bible was being edited by the Pharisee and Sanhedrin, (who later took the titles Pope and the council of Cardinals) They deliberately broke the Lord's prayer when they instituted the translation in the Latin. They did, infact, turn our Father Creator into a fetch-/-vending machine. Thereby, leaving every part of it up to him. Hallow your own name, do your own will, restore your kingdom yourself. (Think about it.) What of this includes you? None of it includes you. Other than you being a sit on the couch recipient of his deeds, of course. Originally, Jesus had said it in the Greek. And here it is. Our Father who art in heaven. Thy name must be being Hallowed. (That means, you Hallow it.) They Will must be being done on earth as it is in heaven. (Guess who's on earth? You are. It's up to you to do his Will here.) Thy kingdom must be being restored. (Yeah, that's you again. And for the individual, it doesn't mean unto the whole world, it is generational. Lovingly, slowly, repetitively, patiently tell your children. Ten years, that's how long it takes to put it in their hearts. Remember, do not turn it into a weapon. Your neck, the mill stone and the sea.) Give us today, our tomorrow's bread. (The wisdom of Jesus, as though we stood beside him in the present tense.) Forgive us our failings as we forgive those who have hurt us. (Now, what I am writing here will make a lot more sense once you have read, keys to the Kingdom. If you have truly reconciled them unto your heart and forgiven them to the full measure, is this not the first time that this has come out of your mouth in all it's intended honesty? I'm betting it is.) Lead us away from evil, delivering us from its temptation as these are not that which you intended. (This may differ as I could not find the translation for accuracy.) Bottom line here is that you are a required part of the power pack. He goes before us and prepares the way. Is Simply this. You want or need a better position and pay. So, you pray unto the Father and he, because the Father is a mind, he is mentality, (the kybalion will explain this perfectly.) He reaches forth in thought, whispering to the hearts and minds of those who will assist you, to give you that which you have asked for. (In belief. Ask, believe and receive.)This requires you to do your part, go to work. Recognize that the Father wants a personal relationship with you, and he desires that you want one with him. That means, you have your part in this. Do your part. Now, remembering that our Father is a mind, he, when communicating with the prophets did this in visions. So, when you pray to the Father remember, the words are for you to build a vision with. In essence, Tell-A-Vision to the Father. Let him see it in your mind. Be clear, get precise, aim for accuracy. Now, in order for prayer to work, the the Father said, if you have anything against your brother go make peace, really. And you know as well as anyone, in this day and anger age, it's often unwise to do so, in person, that is. Follow the instructions below. The Keys to the Kingdom When one understands reconciliation to its fullest meaning, one understands forgiveness. Without reconciliation, forgiveness cannot stand. Reconciliation kills, on impact, all negative emotion. All of it, from your first breath, unto your last. The only emotion that reconciliation cannot defend itself against, is that of love. Love is energy, your soul is energy. So, if the adage, you are what you eat, is true, then the only thing feeding your soul is love and your soul will mature properly and become love in of itself, as we have been commanded, to become like our Father. Who, in of himself, is love. Vengeance is mine, said the Lord, because when you give him vengeance, he turns it into correction and saves his other child, if they will let him. Imagine how you are going to feel towards your enemy in heaven. If you can really imagine the truest form of that feeling, congratulations, those feelings have just transcended time and space. In essence, you asked, asked to see, that's prayer, you believed what you saw, you received it, you felt it. Again, congratulations, you just asked, believed and received. The Father creator loved us, reconciled us unto himself and forgave us. The steps matter. Unless reconciliation is first, forgiveness falls flat on it's face and dies. Forsake the parade. Go unto the Father yourself and take the walk of life with your hand in his. And consider this, with our Father, I truly believe it's, come as you are and I will change you as I need you. Start your commitment to him with these words if they suit you. Finish the statements. Here I am. I am willing. What is the truth? And you had better be sincere or it's going to fail. (Anger. Let us deal with this for a moment. If you are angry about something that happened three weeks ago, it's because, you have a muscle in your stomach, you know the one, that is a chemical junkie. This muscle was present when that particular memory was created and stored. And it calls out that chemical signature, and forces you to re-live that moment, so it can feed, you have not been angry in a long time, you been duped. And now that you know, what are you going to do, fake angry? As soon as you begin to feel angry about anything from the past, stop it. Just take a look around you, and know nothing happened to you today, unless it actually did. And if it did, that's the only thing you can be truly angry about.) (Do not invite the back stabber to your table, here. What they did matters, they, given the opportunity, will do it again. You have a date in heaven, see them there. Old people bring old habits.) (Live in reconciliation. Do not leave that state of being.) (Live in believe, of ask, believe and receive. This would have been better stated as, ask believe and be given. Recieving means to be given, therefore, it's not up to you to move beyond, believe. That's the Father's right and it also allows for recognition of his works and compassion. Also, Throw away the timer.) (Regarding Faith. Faith is simply loyalty. Loyalty to the fact that you asked, loyalty to the fact that you believed. Stay loyal, stay faithful. Or one might choose to see Faith from the vantage point of, staying true.) (As for the judgement room that we have all heard of, well, it may surprise you to learn that that room is in your head, and it's running constantly. We all have a piece of the Christ Consciousness in our minds. All of us. This is how silent prayer is heard. And anytime you do anything good or bad, your heart has an intention and emotional reaction. That intention and emotional reaction is what's being judged. And your judgement is handed down second to last breath. Because up until then you can change your mind about your intention to our Father. You can come to understand this better if you read the letters on the internet from nurses who have been presant for the death of those patients they have been charged to take care of. Worst death bed passings, you'll find them. And you will find good one's as well. This is why your sincerity in your commitment to the Father and to honesty with him are so very important.) (Do not end your prayers with, Amen. To you, this has always meant the prayer has ended. And in that, your right. It's over. End your prayers with, So Be It. This way the energy moves into the future. And it's the translation of, Amen, but in words that, as you understand, have a whole different meaning.) (Do not judge lest you be judged with the same measure. Meaning, when we judge we will be put in the same situation, doing the same thing that we were judging others for. Break all judgements through sincere intention. After all, people and situations change. So, let it be to you as this, "They are still alive." No further, for the Father has got this.) (Anxiety/Stagnation is common place with our Father. He gives us time for what he is teaching us to take it's place in our lives and become a living part of who we are before adding more of his wisdom to our mindset. If it were not so with man, what we learned would become buried under the new knowledge and become worthless.)

She was very attractive, probably more than I was honestly, but I couldn't get over my reaction to what I assume were her pheromones - whenever I hugged her, I'd get a strange whiff of something I can't describe well, and I hated the smell. Told my best friend about it when he asked why I wasn't interested in her and he got mad at me (we were all close friends), and told me she never smelled bad. I didn't know what it was at the time, but looking back on it I think it was pheromones that I picked up on and we were likely a bad match genetically. I could hear the difference in the sound of the river when the fish swim upstream. I could hear it from far away, even inside because part of me was anticipating and waiting for it every spring my whole childhood until i moved from the creek at 19.

    Haha I know the feeling, spring anticipation was at the level of (or maybe surpassed even) Christmas for me. I miss the creek I grew up by (and in) to this day. I don't think I could hear the difference in the sound of the river when the fish swam upstream, but it doesn't surprise me - I've experienced equally "impossible" things that no one believes until it happens to them.

    In my humble opinion, couple of points are understood a bit differently compared to what Jung intended and require some elucidation: First, Jung does talk about certain obvious Reasons and Facts (Dreams, Visions, Prediction of future, NDE, etc) that he observed in his patients and people in general, that indicate some sort of existence outside of our physical bodies/confinements. Of course, he does not know the exact form of the existence after death, but he has definite indications from the unconscious that existence continues. Second, I think the "Salt" is brought by Jung for just a simple comparison reasons, viz. observing his dying patients he noticed that psyche opposes the idea that the life will end and as he acknowledges "disregards the complete end", therefore (+ the reasons discussed by me in the first part of the commentary), for old people he recommends to "live on, look for the next adventure as if life were going on", even without definite proof that life will not end, still its worth to believe that it will continue and live in this "mode" until the end. And this way of living is healthier and better for the human being than living in fear and petrification that life/everything will end soon. And he brings the "salt" comparison - that we might don't know exactly why we eat salt, but we eat salt too, because you feel healthier and better. It's just a simple comparison, instead of salt, he could have said sugar, water, or something else that is essential for human existence and it has nothing to do with Eros, Divinity, Christ Symbol, Quintessence, or other.

    Thank you for the critique, I appreciate it. It's good to weigh these things out, and poke holes wherever it's needed. Although I'm not sure where we disagree in your first point, and for the second, I'd say we only disagree if you're sure Jung used salt in a (relatively) arbitrary manner (not symbolically in the way I suggest). I'm not certain he used it consciously or unconsciously as a symbol, but I think it's possible, and even probable. Interestingly, he understood the symbolism of salt more deeply than most, perhaps more than anyone from his time, and it clearly was deeply significant to him, considering the time and effort he spent to understand the symbol and to write and teach about it. It's speculative, and of course, there's no way of knowing whether he used it in a symbolically meaningful way or not. But my guess is, as I said in the video, that it was symbolically purposeful and more relevant to the subject than most would pick up on, whether he planted the symbol consciously or unconsciously. There seem (to me) to be some good reasons to believe that interpretation, but no good reasons to say it's impossible (not that this is your stance necessarily). If Jung meant something different... I'll put it this way -- most Jungians read him at least slightly differently than others in some way, in the same way that every Christian denomination has at least a slightly different understanding of the scriptures. Do you have good evidence Jung meant something different than what I propose here, or do you basically just mean you interpret what he said differently? Hopefully I didn't miss something there, in a hurry and I may have, my apologies if I did.

    @@JoshRueff Of course brother and thank you for the reply, its nice to have a friendly discussion. As for the salt, considering the context/moment of the Jung's interview, I'm almost sure that the salt was mentioned arbitrary only, but I never thought and have no clue why Jung's conscious suggested the word salt in the first place and why not the other substance, water for example. This is an interesting question, but I think its beyond my knowledge and understanding to guess. Maybe you're right and his conscious/unconscious prioritized the salt because of the symbolical reasons and the fact that Jung has been researching this word many years in past, or maybe he wanted to hint to the listener of the word's significance, but honestly I cant really say.

    I loved the older JP but I am also critical of this DW part of his career in a loving way. I'd argue much of the nihilism, resentment, and increased radicalization on both sides of the American western cultural divide is due to "staring into the abyss". Social media algorithms, divisive media, and propaganda seem to only further sew division and extremism as both sides only see the worst they have to offer each other. I believe we need less abyss staring and more life affirmation now more than ever.

  • @JoshRueff
    @JoshRueffАй бұрын

    @@pariah6775 I see where you're coming from, and I'm with you on life affirmation, and everything you said actually. But I think what JP usually means when he talks about gazing into the abyss is to ultimately stare into the abyss of your own shadow, in the Jungian sense. It may start with confronting the atrocities of the past like the actions of the Nazis for example - he often uses that - but it always ends with realizing you are very likely to have done the same as the average German during that time, and at very least, your shadow as it is connected and a part of the collective shadow contains that same potential malevolence. The purpose is to focus on the person as an individual, to understand the darkness we all have within and to take responsibility for it and our actions. Also to understand that our actions as individuals contribute to the whole, to the collective of humanity. That said, I thoroughly agree, I think there's far too much "gazing into other peoples' abyss" so to speak, pointing to the dust in other peoples' eyes without noticing the branch in our own; projecting our own shadow onto others. It's tearing Western society apart, dividing us. Or maybe more accurately, dividing and conquering us...
