I think I like this version of the theme the best as some of the elements of the tune are pumped up to more prominence such as the horn and percussion.

This show was too good for its own good A strong, positive image of a black man was too scary for TV execs

Agreed. I wouldn't have thought Shatner would make a good Archie, but he was perfect! Read and re-read all of Stout's books, and this is the truest interpretation I've seen. Wish it had become a series.

Seeing some of the ones that never went to series, makes you wonder how many more we will never know about, because the tapes were wiped, or destroyed after they served their purpose.

I remember this series and specifically this episode. The actress who played Marcia on The Brady Bunch played a young runaway in this episode, in a bit of irony the character's name was Jan.

Really well done. What a great pilot. Shatner is so underrated as an actor. Love Maury Chaykin but Kurt was more humorous.

Shortly after this I believe Shatner STARRED in the movie THE EXPLOSIVE GENERATION playing a teacher bringing up topics parents didn't like. Here he met Billy Grey sTAR of the classic sci fi flick THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. . In fact Shatner has worked with him, Eleanor Donahue AND Jane Wyatt. Don't know if he worked with Robert Young and Lauren Chapin don't know what happened to her after Father knows best. I could go to the internet to find out but NAAAHHH.

I wonder why they changed his watch from a dual LED/LCD Chronosplit to a simple LCD Seiko for the French version?

I remember watching this special when it aired. I can't believe I finally found it and it was on KZread this whole time! Even though I could have sworn I looked for it here just a year or two ago? Anyway, thank you for uploading it! Of the pilots, The Chameleon interested me the most back then. Now that I've learned they were apparently made into TV movies, I will be looking for those next.

I correctly figured out the murderer by seeing who was the most recognisable name in the cast!

Pig?.....why not a horse, or a bird?..."don't put the pearls in front of the pigs..."..Jesus 😊
Quite sure this is my first time hearing this. Don't know whose decision it was, but I hated that annoying Al Jarreau song.
It was a network decision at ABC.
