In brief book & film reviews
This channel is aimed at giving honest and positive feedback on books I have thoroughly read. My aim is to give a brief review in regards to the book's appeal.
It also gives other readers of the books I have read an opportunity to explain what they thought and took away from the books in a positive manner. Please feel free to comment, like and subscribe to the channel. You can also leave a comment in regards to any books you would like to recommend to me also, perhaps your own book!
If you would like to use this channel as a book review - video drop, I can publish your video/s on this channel for you.
Any author who would like to reach out to me please feel free to send an email to [email protected]
Stay blessed, safe and may peace be upon you always :)

Almost a reference text, it covers a lot and if you want a broad understanding of roots of The Troubles you can do a lot worse. Maybe a little Adams centric.
You look like moby x
That's been said to before. It must be the baldy head and glasses ✅👍🏼
where to watch
You should be able to get it on a streaming channel perhaps. Or even rent from YT 👍🏼✅
I liked parts of this novel, mainly those involving Frank's children. What spoiled it for me was Frank's repulsive accountant, Selwyn Crane. Penelope Fitzgerald has included at least one utterly repellant character in each book I've read.
Horror slash comedy 😀
Martin Dillon is a liar. Fabricates his stories to sell books.
The first time I had Irish class in the US (50 years ago!) these were the books that we used, along with cassette tapes which I still own. In the years since, much better textbooks and learning materials have been produced but the simplicity of Buntus Cainte and the repetition are still useful. Many of the early lessons stayed with me over the years, even as I revived my Irish from time to time. I used to get a kick out of the topics of conversation -- the weather, what the kids are doing, my sheep is sick, did you hear Seamus is thinking of getting married again -- subjects I guess Irish speakers would actually be talking about. Thanks for your comments on the books, and all the best.
Míle buíochas freisin mo chara 💯💚
What a background 😂
You know me Michal, I don't do stereotypes 👍
Use your illusions 1 was a classic and still is my friend, it still is!
Good idea to hold onto CDs and vinyls, this album along with others will be worth a lot one day
The saddest thing was this Slime was made Heroes in the Shankill area of Unionist Belfast. Shameful.
I’m surprised that Netflix has not made a documentary about these people.
Great review
Thank you Michal

Top notch as per usual 👌
Cheers geezer 👌
I admire the effort you bring to read out actors' names. It reminds me of my efforts to read names and surnames in Irish.😄👍 Well done, Ian. I am going to watch the movie this weekend.
Haha, very good 👌 Nice one Deniss!
The Charlestown guys had nothing to do with the I.R.A fundraising... they were just an Irish American bank / armored truck robbery crew... the I.R.A gun running was spearheaded by Pat Nee of Southie... He was born in Ireland and lived there as a child then moved to Boston for his older childhood years... He was also a bank/armored truck robber....
Thanks for the knowledge. Any news on release dates? If any?
A really interesting read I thought aswell
I really appreciate this review because I have been using the free app Duolingo to learn Irish... I have been in possession of these Buntas Cainte books and CD's for a few years but was put off by how challenging they seemed.... And despite hunting all over Galway city for books on Irish suitable for adult learners who had never been to school in Ireland... I finally found these books after a number of astonished shop assistants telling me they had no suggestions for me... I have now covered enough of the Duolingo course to use this highly recommended course
Quality 👌
Killed innocent people didn't have the bottle to actually take on the IRA just innocent Catholics the bloke is a coward..
Tiocfaidh ar la..
Hiya Ian. Have been away from Social media for a while and you just popped up tonight. Great review of a cracking film. I only saw it during the week in the Square with my daughters. Beautifully shot movie with Jim Caviezel at his best. Super film. Only disappointment was how quickly it ended. I thought that the final scenes were somewhat rushed and the pacing seemed too hurried. My daughter disagreed and said that too much suspense would have detracted from the ending. Perhaps she was right. Anyway, keep up the amazing content. Absolute legend 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Alan! Thanks a million brother. I have to agree with your daughter also... Sorry 😄 I hope you are doing well, anymore videos coming from you soon? I am in the same situation as you were 2 and a half years ago unfortunately. I am still doing the videos to keep my mind off things and focused on something positive and of value. Keep the faith always ✌️
@@inbriefbookfilmreviews2539 Oh wow. I didn’t know that Ian. Hope you are okay. Yeah, I agree, doing some KZread stuff can keep you distracted from stuff. Stay strong my friend and keep up the wonderful content. I know from personal experience that you can sometimes feel like, what is the point??? But if you can brighten up just one person with an upload, you’ve done your job. ❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@ThreeMinuteTales Appreciate that Alan 👍

Hallo Sir, I don't suppose you have any links or access to #audiobook channels for free do you? Appreciate your channel. 👍
I do not, but I do hope you find someone that does. 👍 I much prefer reading than listening to audionooks and think I have only have ever listened to just one story on audio. Hope you are well Dave 🙏
@@inbriefbookfilmreviews2539 Appreciate your taking the time to reply I too devoured books by the plane load but since hitting 50, and disconcerting them, I am hooked. Having fine books read to me is something difficult to explain but what a sensation, thanks again and keep these coming please. ☘️📚
@@DaveSCameron I'm glad you are enjoying the audios Dave, I can imagine they are very good to listen to on transport or before sleep ✅
@@inbriefbookfilmreviews2539 *discovering (predictive! 🤣) yes you have it right they're perfect for those and add a wonderful narrator and it's unbeatable! 👍📚

I am sure you can watch this on KZread Katherine :)
@@inbriefbookfilmreviews2539 I'm not getting the full thing on youtube.
@@katherinejoseph7060 I may still have it, if you want to send me your details I can post it to you. ✌🏼
Just came across your podcast Ian very well done, from a fellow Dub living in New Jersey.
Up the Dubs 🔵⚪🔵⚪ How is everyone in New Jersey 👍
@@inbriefbookfilmreviews2539 all good come the Dubs this Sunday!
Can’t wait to read
God blessing you always Killian brother. You're an inspiration to so many 🙏🌏
Good yeah. Very interesting
Who loves you best baby 👶 👍
Best of all❤
👌👍
That book was one of the most morbid but fascinating I’ve ever read. I suppose the signs regarding Murphy were there at an early age when he was mugging fellow pupils at knifepoint and running various rackets at school.
Untold stories but known to us indigenous people here in the America's because we know the true history and those slave stories of Europeans are some what hidden here in the America's unless you go really searching for them .
I agree totally.
Nice one Ian
Nice to see another review and another one for the list.
