My name is Claire Casey, and I run A Scottish Odyssey.
It's is a channel that is filled with videos of hidden gems in Scotland, and places that I think that people should visit. The places that I visit range from castles to country parks, from beaches to waterfalls. I want to encourage people to get off the beaten track, and to find their own Scotland.
I hope that you all enjoy.

The South of Scotland so often gets overlooked by visitors. We may not have the cities of the central belt, or the challenging peaks of the Highlands but we have our own beauty spots.
I very much agree with that. The Borders have their own character, and I love it. People definitely do need to stop in the Borders and explore them more.
I use to cut the grass there
A lovely place to do an honest days work.
Nice to be able to get outside without fear of getting soaked for a day or two.
Yeah, those few days of summer were a god send. Now it’s back to the rain
I been to Edinburgh in 2018, missed the museum . I m a collector of Currencies and coins and it was a very interesting video you made about the museum thank you dear friend. Nandu Kavalam
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. Maybe you could visit the museum, if you get to visit Edinburgh again.
What a beautiful and peaceful garden. Thanks for this.
Yeah, it was so lovely just wandering around. The sunshine certainly helped. I bumped into a family from Glasgow, when I was there, and they were loving their visit as well. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video.
@AScottishOdyssey sunshine always helps! The Borders is a beautiful area, and I feel it's a bit underrated.
Things are always so much better with the sunshine. Yeah, the Borders is often overlooked. It's the same with Dumfries and Galloway.
@@AScottishOdyssey I agree x
I do need to get back down to Dumfries and Galloway and explore it more.

Thank you. I’m so that you’re enjoying my videos. I loved the peace of the Kailzie Gardens as well
What a lovely place, thank you for showing!
Thank you. I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
Great video. That looks like a great cruise especially in the good weather. It was good to see Maid of the Loch as well!
It was a great wee trip, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I do hope that, one day, they get the Maid of the Loch back out onto the water. It would be a sight to see.
@@AScottishOdyssey Yes - it would be great if it could take people out on the loch for a cruise.
I will keep my fingers crossed that it will one day happen
There is certain something about seeing Scotland from the water. I do love going on wee boat trips.
Yeah, seeing the world from the water does give you a different perspective on things.
I love Killearn it’s somewhere I go all the time❤
It is a beautiful wee place.
you staying off the swally then theses days ben
Excuse me?
That looked really enjoyable. What a fun day! What better way to enjoy an ice cream cone
It was definitely a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. An ice cream always goes down well.

Excellent and interesting video. I didn't realise that the new bridge was so close to the Riverside Museum. I'm hoping to sail on the Waverley when it visits the Thames later in the year.
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video and I hope that you will enjoy your trip on the Waverley. Seeing the Thames from the water will surely be interesting. Yeah, the new bridge is really close to the Riverside Museum. When it’s open, it will certainly make it easier to see the museum and the Govan Old Parish Church in the same day.
@@AScottishOdyssey My dad was born and raised nearby in Johnstone and he used to tell me about the old Renfrew chain ferry that crossed the Clyde near there.
@@ThamesShips Yeah, the chain ferry is no longer there, but the foot passenger ferry is still there. It goes from Renfrew and Yoker.
@@AScottishOdyssey I believe the old chain ferry is now moored in Glasgow on the Broomielaw and is used as a nightclub and entertainment venue.
@@ThamesShips Is that the casino next to the bridge into Central Station?
Everything always looks better from the water.
I agree with that statement
You had a lovely day for it, and the scenery was looking magnificent in the sun! Thanks for this x
The weather was glorious. It was the icing on the cake. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video

Which Friday?

I am beginning to think that the Midge is the flying vector of the Haggis. As it grows and matures it turns into the hairy animal we all know. I am not sure when it derives it's long and short legs for running around hills but it must be during the change from flying to ground based phase I presume. Never heard of this place LOL.
You sound like you have one hell of a beastie on your hands. Yeah, Duncarron does seem to be a hidden gem.
It's a fascinating place to wander round. Thanks for this.
I’m glad that you enjoyed it. It’s certainly a hidden gem
@@AScottishOdyssey for sure x
I might have to go back when there is an event on.
@@AScottishOdyssey I'm sure you'll enjoy that.
They do look fab.
Berwick on tweed 😂😂😂
What did I say?
Seems a great place to visit 😊 and very interesting. Have a good week
Yeah, it’s a lovely brewery. The staff are great as well, and really know their stuff. I hope that you have a great week as well.
Camper vans sound like an exciting way to explore Scotland.
It certainly would be. Just be careful on the smaller roads
It's a lovely big beach. I think the stones are a nod to Angus and its Pictish history. Thanks for this.
Yeah, I do love it when you get a beach that is an open expanse. Yeah, the stones being a nod to Angus’ Pictish heritage would make sense.

Thank you for showing this nice beach 👍
You’re welcome, I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
is there a youtube video on monday at 6am a scottish odyssey?
There will be
Good video but it would of been interesting to see what the giant panda enclosure is looking like these days since they’ve gone back
I have to admit, I didn't know which ones were the panda enclosures.
@@AScottishOdyssey it’s up the top of the hill, as you see the koalas on the left keep going and there’s a hill climb before the dinosaurs - the pandas were on the right they should be a wooden statue of a panda still there.
@@Narrowsplice I think that thy were working on some of the enclosures, when I was there.
INCIDENTALLY ITS NOT WHITE SANDS UP THE ROAD ITS SILVER SANDS.
My mistake. I should know better, I’ve been to Silver Sands.
why was there no youtube today a scottish odyssey?
Because life got in the way and I wasn’t able to go out and film.
Another great video. This looks like a great way to explore Paisley.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. Yeah, it is a great way of seeing the town.
I had heard about this. I’ll have to try and get the wee booklet for it. I’m sure that it will be an interesting way to explore Paisley.
Yeah, definitely get one of the booklets. If you contact PaisleyFirst, I'm sure that they will be able to send you one. I'm sure that you'll enjoy the Buddie Walk of Fame.
@@AScottishOdyssey I’ll definitely look forward to it.
Glad to hear it.
Where is the mention of the Battle of Roslin 1302? A win for the Scots! .Tich
There is only so much that they can mention at events like this. They were probably trying to give an overview of the Bruce’s life and deeds.
Now that was an interesting video. I learnt something today, thank you.
Thank you. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. Every day is a school day.
It's good that these people are being recognised in their home town. Great video Claire x
It is great to see them being celebrated. Hopefully the walk of fame will prove popular, grow and celebrate even more. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video
@@AScottishOdyssey I definitely think it'll keep expanding - at which point you'll need to go back! x
A sequel.
Great video! Keep them coming. I also live in Paisley. Why not ask Sandy Stoddart if you can have a look round his studio at UWS? An interesting guy and a world renowned sculptor.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. My channel is more tourism focused. I'm not sure if visiting Mr Stoddart's studio would fit with that. I'm sure that he has a lot of things on his plate. It would be interesting to know if he ever opened his studio for an open day.

What a wee hidden gem. I never knew that was there. It is finds like this that can really make a trip through Scotland. It looked like a really peaceful place to explore.
I hadn't known that it was there, until the day of the visit. I'm glad that I did pull in and went for a visit. It was really peaceful, and I would recommend it.
Thank you for filming the video. Millport looks idyllic.
It’s a lovely wee place. I’m glad that you enjoyed it
This looks like it was a brilliant event, and so much fun.
It was a lot of fun. It was nice to see so many people out, enjoying this event.
Wow. How did I not know that this place existed? I will have to go up to Culross for a visit. I do love Fife, so I do love being in the area.
It's definitely somewhere I would recommend visiting. I really enjoyed my time there.
If I had known that this event was on, I would have been along at it myself. There seems to have been a really good turn out for it. Hopefully that will bode well for possible future events.
There definitely was a good turnout for this event. I hope that will be a positive sign as well, for there being future events.
@@AScottishOdyssey It's good to hear that they had a good turn out. I'll keep my fingers crossed for future events.
@@scottishlassie7230 Same here.
This looks like a brilliant event. I agree with you. I hope that this becomes an annual event. It would be a great way to celebrate the Bruce's connection to the area, as well as bringing people into the Maybole area.
I agree with you, on both counts. Fingers crossed it will be on again in the future.
What a beautiful place to explore. I've been to Culross as well, but hadn't realised that this castle was there. It looks like such a beautiful place to explore, and that Cullen Skink looked very hearty and filling.
It's definitely something of a hidden gem. I would recommend visiting, the next time you are in Culross. I'm sure that you will love it.
🎉🎉🎉
It's a beautiful place, and I can totally understand why people want to get married there.
