I'm glad they showed the reality of how a family will actually act. From the outside someone who has never having been through this someone might say you're over reacting, but if you're in the thick of it the feelings might be a little different having to go through this is tough.

So what do you do??? Call the hospital? Your gp?? Someone please contact me, my Grandmother died of delirium, and now my mother seems to be showing signs of it, and I don't know what to do. Can I send them to the hospital against their will since they're not in their right frame of mind?? I have no one to help me take care of her, and I'm TERRIFIED, and feel helpless!

Mom has dementia but ok to go out. Went into hospital..got a UTI there...and now after 6 days she is so much worse ...she is quiet

The only real trauma anyone should complain is about is combat related ptsd. what are veterans see is worse then any other trauma that exist.

These are all good techniques, but my mom refuses to allow me to speak. If I try, she just screams over me, sometimes becoming violent and is always verbally abusive. There is no talking to her. What else can I do besides talking to her. She's always telling me to Shut Up and Go To Hell whenever I attempt to speak. She doesn't even know what I'm about to say...she just screams. She also seems to enjoy seeing me cry after she's beaten on me or has been verbally abusive with me.

How about this idea: write positive notes and place where she likes to be or go. "Hi mom. I love you." "Hi mommy. I remember when..." "Dear mother thank you for being a great mom." "Hi mom. I miss you. Can we go for a walk sometime?" If she rails back just smile. If she says did you write this? Just nod yes. Non verbal communication is key imo here. Presence. No words. Smiles. A soft touch on her back if she permits it. I sense you are giving your all and feel nothing is right. Hang in there. No doubt it's really hard not receiving affirmation of any kind. I'd feel same. Other ideas for dressing might be to hold out choices and motion which do you want. I knew a lady who could not tolerate noise and literally spoke in whispers. It's not you.

Don't be her victim. Try what I've said. When or if she yells try placing your hand on your heart and nod your head. Then leave the room. I feel your goodness from wherever you are. This was 5 months ago. How are you?

If big boy is not hungry, skipping a single meal never hurt anyone, and as for pills, How many children when you ask them what they want to be when they grow up?, Answer, “A pill popper…” Pill mills need your diligent popping to keep their obscene profits rolling in but you don’t… But the brainwashing is strong, besides the drugs actually make things worse in the long run but noone seems to notice or to be able to pay attention for that long and get caught up in the drug habit cycle, in fact, don’t be surprised if drugs actually make dementia worse in the long term. Plus if someone is on hospice why not let them get off the drugs and be at peace, Even the blood pressure lowering drugs can actually cause dangerously low blood pressure if they are just given every day w/o checking their blood pressure Before drugging them, if their blood pressure is low and not “high”… Drugs are not your friend, prescription drugs prescribed by doctors is one of the leading causes of death for a reason, but noone seems to notice, noone seems to care…

I came back stateside to my next duty station...I was having trouble sleeping and would get scared from sounds. I asked my new XO who was I thought caring...he was a West Point desk jockey with his "Fire Guard" ribbon. He told me to grow up and act like a real solder??? I was a 101st Airborne Sniper in Vietnam. I learned that day, NEVER tell anyone about the war. It's not glorious ... it hell. I often sit alone at home for days, often not even eating... I'm waiting to join my buddies. I marched one time in 1983 on ANZAC Day while in Australia, as I moved there to be a teacher... the war got the next flight from Chicago and followed me here. The VA rated me 100% disabled, but I live alone. This is an old video...there are no "Mood Stabilizers" that work as over 70 have been tested.... The VA doesn't help, if you believe this woman,I got some prime swampland for sale!

My dad's freind had PTSD he served the marines from 1982-1995 especially during the gulf War he only told one story idk all of it but he said he was walking to an observation point he had 28 other guys with him and he heard a click and then just explosions he lost his arm he was knocked out but he was still able to hear a little he said he heard gunshots and yelling to get down when he got out of it he tried to crawl behind a tree he just saw a little before he blacked out again he saw 2 Iran tanks and he woke up patched up only 5 guys survived he said

My partner got delirium 2 weeks ago and she is still recovering at home. It is so scary. She is getting her sleep and taking each day by day. I got her interested in learning to play piano something she wasn't interested in before. I want her back.

I might have read you comment incorrectly, but if you're implying you're depressed because your PTSD is affecting people around you, don't blame yourself, please. You're the one that went through trauma, it's not your fault. The people around you that love you are probably only affected in the sense that they see you go through that and feel sad that it happened to you and that they can't change it nor save you from having PTSD. Please don't feel guilty for that, it's not on you.❤

my great grandpa was in war in Vietnam he was a genral he seen a lot of blood and his friend all of his close people and he was been shot in his right shoulder when he was in camp thats when he had ptsd he died in 2008 rest in peace my great grandpa

You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but a delirium is that times a thousand.

I'm so anxious, tired and worn out. My mother just came home from the hospital after her second time catching Covid and trying my best. I wanted to extend her stay in the hospital but he swore you can't keep people in the hospital for being delirious and once she got home she'd bounce back in a few weeks. This first week has been rough.😰😩

Appearance without substance. Everything is a hallucination. So this moment right now is a hallucination. It's always been a hallucination. That's what reality is. In psychology hallucination means perception without any input or data. So traditionally if you go to a mental hospital and you're telling them that you're seeing monkeys running around with stripes and polka dots, they'll say you're hallucinating.

Had a buddy of mine that was in Afghanistan and on 4th of July when someone lit off one of the mortars without saying something first when the explosion shot up the first thing he did was hit the ground with his hands over his head… he went from mid conversation with 4 of us to that in a split second. That hit my heart a lot different. Bless all of our veterans and especially those that have experienced combat and are struggling with PTSD and other things.

I knew someone who was in the Korean war. He saw it all too. He was the guy in the front with a radio. Its very real. He would tell me stories. His way of dealing with it was the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

I used to have the same bad dream when I was little, I use to dream about me sitting in a Tan color tank and out of nowhere I explode seeing myself and my other crewmates die, know I'm 14 I don't have much bed dreams that I use to.

Father served in Iraq. I've seen 1st hand these things. Granted his attacks aren't as severe, but the signs of his anxiety were clear.
