Can anyone explain to me what a Hobo is please? Google seems to liken them to a “tramp”, but this guy doesn’t seem like my interpretation of a tramp! Great video by the way, thank you 🙏🏻
Hobos were people who traveled and looked for work. Tramps travel but don't work and bums do neither
Very enlightening vid
maybe roadrunner can contact the Whitehouse and get hobo joe to get on the road with him! and with luck we would never see joe ever again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Y'all would never hear from that old creep ever again
Very interesting! Interview format is odd, but I got the message. If I was 10 years younger and single, I would live this way. Unfortunately, my wife won't let me leave, and I'm an old man. This guy is living the life in my opinion. Stay safe gentleman.🙏🇺🇲
Excellent interview. It's nice to hear from someone who is actually living the hobo life. One question I wish you asked was about the type of footwear works best.
I wear combat boots as they help with ankle support and both of the pups don't seem interested in tearing them apart
This hobo is an actor
No, he's the real deal.
Very informative and helpful video. I like how you get to the heart of the modern hobo lifestyle, but bring special attention to the parts of classic era that survive to this day. The breakdown of the gear he deems to be essential to him and how he washes laundry were especially interesting.
I don't see how you can hop trains with two dogs. Not easily.
It's not easy but it definitely can be done
Iv done it with three dogs actually
Excellent video James, really enjoyed listening to the interview with RR, such a humble, down to earth man. Great job to both of you!
Thanks so much!
Well done, great video.
Thanks!
11:05 saw your cat or neighbors cat lol.
Yes, sneaking around the Mulligan...
I’m curious to what’s he do with the dogs while any of these said jobs. Just leave em tied to some random tree or something.
My stipulation when offered these jobs is they have to be with me on the job site or on the farm and ranch. Otherwise I probably won't accept them
I live near Ssn Francisco. I have 2 friends who worked for H.O.T. ( Homeless Outreach Team) and both say anyone who sleeps on the streets there, tramp or hobo, usually u Ends up dead from drugs or a 5150 homeless who wants what another person has. Street stabbings is common. I would prefer small towns as well, you get more hospitality
Absolutely.
Great interview. If you have him back questions like what are the top five pieces of advice to a new hobo would be cool. I noticed in the picture of the Road Runner and his dog’s part of his kit is an Israeli paratrooper bag so the haversack/ Musette bag tradition continues.
Hi😅😅😅
Enjoyed it bro.😊
Thanks!
Very interesting video I didn’t know there were hobos still left awesome 👏
Glad you enjoyed the interview!
That's my favorite hobo series video. Good job and thank you.
Sure would been nice back in the day for Hobos could have had video cameras on them just imagine to see what they experienced everyday thanks for the video
Back in the day people would often sketch things they see You might probably find lots of journals that are illustrated this way
i live in southern Minnesota will be in Britt at convention in August
Can't wait to see you there!
If you're worried about small items too, you could probably do that end tuck with the finished roll too and snug it with the 2nd hitch inward. Great ideas and technique! Your cans are rolled up in there, & you don't feel them? Hello to the modern guy. Hope things are alright for ya.
а у нас за поездки на товарнеках посадят
Interviewing this guy is about as real as one could get. Anyone who is preps should take notes.
👍👍👍🇬🇧
Good subject, but your editing is mind-numbing.
Well I don't have a staff or any formal training so I do the best that I can on my own. Thanks for watching.
@@WayPointSurvival Your normal videos are best. Simplicity.
Wow, very cool interview. Thank you for taking us on your adventure. Through life through history and on the rails, thank you. And God bless.
They look like brothers 😂😂
This is an informative interview. I have wondered what the Hobo life might be like today.
How about crapping? Dig a hole ?
Thank you everyone for the kind words and the support. Thank you James Bender for the invite it was an awesome time to be there and i hope me and the pups will be there again eventually
🎉great video! Subbed to your channel. Cant wait to watch your stuff. Im always curious how you guys survive. You must be in top physical shape walking 20 miles a day
@@bsd9230 just beware my videos do have swearing and such in them but I'm planning on privatizing those videos. I been working on keeping my mouth clean so to speak
Well done, boys!
New subber.. from near stonehenge, England ..🫡
Brilliant. I'm so very impressed and even emotional. What a lovely soul.
😊
Thank you for such an excellent video. Really enjoyed it.
Not saying any of them are not informative just this cool one

Believe life is better having a job and being responsible
That’s a nice hat.
Awesome video sir. Great knowledge from the young man. Thanks for sharing.
Great interview
I know a fellow who has now passed away that hichiked all over the states. But this was back in the 70s. He died in a trailer fire in Florida. He always loved Florida. Sure miss him .
Being homeless is being free, freedom. We all usually working 40 hours per week to pay for the apartment rental and that's it.
Im with Your friend im built for cold the heat messes me and makes me feel sick i loved winter back packing earliy spring and fall. Idk if it was heat stroke when i was younger but im also very light skinned and burn quite easily too. When i was working i was a concrete foundations/ carpenter but i would still burn ontop of my light tan at times.
wow! a true mgtow man, happy trails guy!
Thank you 😊
Very nice video, great interview. And thanks for all your videos and hard work. I do watch them all.
In the picture of him with his gear it looks like an awkward carry setup. It may be OK, I can't tell. It would be great to see exactly what he carries and how.
I'll be doing a gear overview eventually. The bags are pillow cases tied together. We call them swag bags , term used for the swagmen in Australia. Right now tho I switched over to a Czech M85 rucksack for now.
Sound like awesome guy love his stories so cool. Keep smiling God bless him.
Thank you 😊
Way too cool🎉
Awesome man looking forward to this video.
I am not a hobo, most of the coin laundry’s i visit i find liquid bottles thrown in the trash, have some small content of soap in them and a faucet i can use to fill up with water and swish the soap together and pour it over my clothes to wash by hand. Normally i have a small travel size liquid laundry soap container with me. I like to rinse out large capacity laundry soap containers with the builtin faucet to dry out before filling them up with oil or shampoo when business were in lock down or power outage effected availability to shop I could store my essentials in these containers. And the faucet replaced using a funnel to refill a smaller shampoo bottle. And easy to dispense coolant or oil into the resivoir of the radiator or valve cover. Even storing dishwashing liquid. Great for rinsing hands under cold water from the repurposed laundry soap container.
