Can anyone explain to me what a Hobo is please? Google seems to liken them to a “tramp”, but this guy doesn’t seem like my interpretation of a tramp! Great video by the way, thank you 🙏🏻

Hobos were people who traveled and looked for work. Tramps travel but don't work and bums do neither

Very interesting! Interview format is odd, but I got the message. If I was 10 years younger and single, I would live this way. Unfortunately, my wife won't let me leave, and I'm an old man. This guy is living the life in my opinion. Stay safe gentleman.🙏🇺🇲

Excellent interview. It's nice to hear from someone who is actually living the hobo life. One question I wish you asked was about the type of footwear works best.

I wear combat boots as they help with ankle support and both of the pups don't seem interested in tearing them apart

Very informative and helpful video. I like how you get to the heart of the modern hobo lifestyle, but bring special attention to the parts of classic era that survive to this day. The breakdown of the gear he deems to be essential to him and how he washes laundry were especially interesting.

I live near Ssn Francisco. I have 2 friends who worked for H.O.T. ( Homeless Outreach Team) and both say anyone who sleeps on the streets there, tramp or hobo, usually u Ends up dead from drugs or a 5150 homeless who wants what another person has. Street stabbings is common. I would prefer small towns as well, you get more hospitality

Great interview. If you have him back questions like what are the top five pieces of advice to a new hobo would be cool. I noticed in the picture of the Road Runner and his dog’s part of his kit is an Israeli paratrooper bag so the haversack/ Musette bag tradition continues.

I'll be doing a gear overview eventually. The bags are pillow cases tied together. We call them swag bags , term used for the swagmen in Australia. Right now tho I switched over to a Czech M85 rucksack for now.

I am not a hobo, most of the coin laundry’s i visit i find liquid bottles thrown in the trash, have some small content of soap in them and a faucet i can use to fill up with water and swish the soap together and pour it over my clothes to wash by hand. Normally i have a small travel size liquid laundry soap container with me. I like to rinse out large capacity laundry soap containers with the builtin faucet to dry out before filling them up with oil or shampoo when business were in lock down or power outage effected availability to shop I could store my essentials in these containers. And the faucet replaced using a funnel to refill a smaller shampoo bottle. And easy to dispense coolant or oil into the resivoir of the radiator or valve cover. Even storing dishwashing liquid. Great for rinsing hands under cold water from the repurposed laundry soap container.
