I wish they'd fix the stuttering in this game on PC. I have it on PC and on PS5, and the PS5 version is much smoother. There is a stutter every time you go into space, and you can see it in this video too if you look close. On my PC is far worse. I've tried the "stutter fixes" that have gone around on the internet, but they generally dont work all the way.

If you get a captain for your freighter you can just tell them to follow mission coordinates. This will allow you to walk around the ship. Also the game start you've picked is for more experienced players. You were near an equipment base at first and could have bought better engines, shields, software and a captain. The game won't tell you that. Also freighters are quite slow. Starting in a fighter or scout is preferable, at least for me so I can start working on my empire and not wait for autopilot to deliver me from base to base. If it goes for factions, borons are a different faction than you are, they won't come helping you. If you see an enemy, you first need to know if you can attack them. You can only do so if you kill people from factions that are hostile to whoever controls the system you're in. You've opened policing, that's late game, when you have your own sectors. You can ban certain goods from going through your sectors, so your other ships/captains in those sectors will scan non-faction ships and tell them to jettison contraband. The same thing can happen to you so it's good to know what's banned and where. Travelling mode for freighters takes a long time to start, so for short jumps use your boost - TAB. Also depending on the steering mode you have, when you're in a highway, moving your mouse to the side may detach you from the highway. I switch to keyboard mode always when in highways. One last thing, it's good to have an empty weapon group, so you can switch to it when not fighting. It'll stop you from firing randomly at stations and other things. At first it doesn't really matter but when you're in an Asgard or similar class ship, you can blow even large ships with one hit and the other factions won't like that much. Edit: also you're playing on a laptop so you may not have a numpad. You can use it to control the camera:)

QOL gameplay tips: 1. Those small cargo drones that were red were smuggling drones. You lost standing with the faction because you accidentally hit the station! 2. Shift+1 for travel mode. Shift+2 is short range scanner. Shift+3 is long range scanner (also needs to press and hold R till the pitch is going high, then release it). I think Shift+4 is SETA, whch is unlocked later in the game and allows you to speed up the game time 3. To stop a ship when exiting the highway, press backspace! 4. If you buy a docking computer MK2 you don t have to play the docking minigame later 6. Deactivate travel mode before turning!

They really need to fix the LOD issues as you fly into a planet. I get it - that's computationally very difficult given the procedural nature of the geometry and instancing of other objects ON said geometry.... but still.. it takes away from the transition into the planets.

Yes, thats feels not okay. This is something that really shouldn't happen. My only negative feeling about the game probably stems from this. It gives a bland sensation, as if you're not landing on the chosen planet, but on something else laid out in front of it.

@@robingood21century I get slowdowns during the Star loading scene and also on entry and exiting planets. Just general stuttering from 60 fps to 40ish. Annoying. Just general stuttering across the game.

I'm getting split of second hikkup at times when leaving planet or entering atmosphere. I think this is engine related. I have a very fast SSD, 4070 TI Super and 7800X3D CPU.

I just picked up this game last night just before the sale ended. Having a fun time just exploring around and working on my small base on a nice tropical planet I've found. I hope Star Citizen's future exploration can learn a thing or two from NMS.

They fixed argo raft cargo problem yet ? Argo raft was my worst buy ship with currently buggy cargo space. Go for Freelancer Max instead

Yes ,learn to land outside the main rappel area in the valley if the flat places are already occupied. Fine that c2 has some drawbacks (here its size)

this game is SERIOUSLY MASSIVE, it genuinely already has a more evolved quantum and quanta that is planned for SC, no joke (among many other things like base building, crew etc etc etc). i really recommend to do tutorials and check the video from youtuber carbon cola called, x4 foundations review, to understand a bit of how immense is this game 🙂

Ooh, honestly I would not have started with timelines. Based on what I've seen, it's not really all that representative of what you'll be doing in the main sandbox. It's like saying "I'm going to play Star Citizen", but then firing up Arena Commander. It's a little arcadey and not really representive of the main experience. And from what I hear, many of them or so difficult that they act more like challenge modes for verterans than they do tutorials for new players. As someone who plays both Star Citizen and X4 (I've been playing the X series since X2: The Threat), I would probably recommend new players start by playing the game as either the Argon Freelancer, or the Terran Cadet. With the Terran Cadet start in my opinion, having the better introduction path for new players. I hope this helps.

Exactly... starting with Timelines... not the best option in my opinion. Of course, your mileage may vary. Thing is that there are many, many, content creators on KZread, as well as those in forums who have said the same thing. Timelines feels like a completely different X4 in many ways, which is kinda sad, seeing as how many new players will probably do as this gentleman has done, and quickly think that the latest release is "the version" they should play. It is just not a good new player experience.

@@olegchernyak1741 so I can buy x4 with all the dlc without selling a kidney, and have more fun than constantly respawning and riding the train and trying to get off the planet in Star Citizen and then after a while, out of nowhere, the ship flew up into the air and all over again: getting up, the queue, dressing up, shopping and I'm trying to take off, but I'm not sorry yet because now the server is screwed up, so again XD cool game, this star citizen one for idiots XD

Timelines is a special DLC. Its separated of the main game (the sandbox). You can unlock stuff here for the sandbox while you progress in timeline (but its not needed for the sandbox game. its more additional stuff). The sandbox mode you can start by selecting "play open universe" or something like that. And it would be a good idea to play the tutorial. For the open universe there are multiple start. As starter your should choose one which game start type is at least "guided" to get also a bit of hand holding (play start "sandbox" - is without). Terra Cadet for example is a nice start. X4 is not famous for its presentation (its not looking bad), its famous for its real time simulation of each ship and real time trade. Everything has to be produce and moved to build stuff in stations. Edit/Additional info: In the sandbox each game will be unique because the stations on the maps are randomized. the sectors are the same and the main stations like start shipyards etc are also fix - here some more detailed info: www.reddit.com/r/X4Foundations/comments/13fqffo/comment/jjwoe2y/
