  I stayed at Hotel Primavera, it's right downtown in Liberia across from the church. It's 2 star but very cheap, and they lock the entrance at night. maps.app.goo.gl/6g7seVArzU4hRTwU8 If you're looking for higher end accommodations there's hotels in Liberia but I haven't stayed at them.

  This hike is silly and it's on private property that's why you jumped the chain at the very beginning. Just swim there from Playa Ocotal in 5min. Lordy...KZreadrs. You are total Gringos so the beach is made for you.

  Planning on spending the winter months there again. San Jose, Cartago, Jaco, Quepos. Always stay at the Best Western in Jaco for a week or 10 days.

  what's the situation for restaurants and bars? How would this rank for a family with small children where walking long distances in the heat are troublesome.

  There were a few restaurants around Langosta, but of course downtown Tamarindo is about 1 km walking. With small kids, might be more comfy having a gold cart to boot into Tama rather than walk often carrying stuff for the day. I'd definitely say the beach at Tamarindo is better for the small kids over around Langosta.

  I agree, the way Tamarindo is configured is frustrating for me, especially passing through. With a rental close enough to walk I'm sure it would be no issues.

  If you're into surfing and getting 'massages' then I'd say Jaco. If you're into nightlife, easier surfing & swimming I'd say Tamarindo.

  I have the Mini Pro 3. There's no flying at night, and several sites in the country where no flights are allowed. Registration is required for non recreational use.

  Great content! How safe are these areas? Any street crime ?? Are there many expats? These small villages you're traveling through... do you find english speaking at all or is spanish predominantly used ?

  I feel really safe throughout CR. I'm sure there's places in Cartago and everywhere you don't want to go at night, but aside from that it's chill. As for English, in tourist areas there will be a lot of English spoken. In a lot of small towns there's way less English spoken, but I'm often surprised as I jumble with my weak Spanish and the person I'm speaking with just goes "listen I know English just speak that" LOL

  @@paulreportingliv yes but i think they're changing the law next year so anything with more than 50cc or 500watt is a proper moto. That will require inspection and license. But for now the one in got is considered a bicycle

  With no traffic, probably about 1.5 hours. But lately, there's been a lot of traffic due to a major bridge being closed further south. The road from the Liberia Airport can be almost standstill. To my knowledge it can be another 2 months before the bridge is reopened.

  Oh cool. It's actually incredible the difference a small drive can make here. This market is only 45 minutes away from Dominical for example. And 45 minutes north you're in a national park that's actually cold.
