dilliot2k

Hi! I'm Dillio, and this is my KZread channel for all things music.

Whether you're a hobbyist, an aspiring producer, or a professional musician, I'm here to help you make better music, understand your equipment better, and solve problems for the everyday music producer and artist.

I love making videos that teach people how to get their ideas out of their heads and into their computers-and then out into the world where they can be heard by everyone who's ready to listen. Of course, it's not all about the gear: there's an art to producing good music that goes beyond just having the right equipment (though that helps!). I've been making music since I was a teenager, and I'm still learning new things every day.

DillioT2K is a place where we review software, equipment, and offer tips on how to get better at making music. We'll also be sharing great content from independent artists and producers-including interviews with some of us who are out there doing it for ourselves.

Apples and oranges. It’s all about how you freak these drum machines: People putting too much on names instead of making beautiful sounding music.

I bought my Integra-7 from NYC's very own Armen's Music Shop. I actually traded someone else's Roland FA-06 (he owed me money) and paid a few hundred for the difference, and I absolutely love it. I hooked it up to my Akai Force now. I think some sounds do not like how they sounded years ago when I was running it through my MPC Live. Like my electric pianos sounds flat in the audio or sum'n. IDK, I might have to figure it out.

integra 7 can cover sounds from late 80s to now. the Supernatural tones alone are worth it even without all the legacy stuff. its a Roland Cloud in a box.

So If I get a Fantom 7EX and layer it with an Integra 7, would you do work with a setup like that? Or should I just stick with the Fantom 7?

  • @dilliot2k

The sound quality from a module is IMO superior to any plugin. Plugs may have more updated sounds but the richness, depth and textures of the tones and reverbs can't be beat.

I don't quite understand how you're using the bass sweetener. It looks like you're playing it on the and of four, but maybe it's quantized to land on one with the first bass drum hit.

Summer 2024... One aspect of the latest update has really upset me! It's a breaking moment for my relationship with them, a 20 year relationship... For the better part of 5 years, I churned out music and did NOT upgrade the version that I used. I was very happy with what I made. I found out very quickly that instruments that were available to download in mass quantities, like instruments upon instruments within the online aspect of the Directwave plugin ceased to exist after a particular upgrade. Numerous project files of mine have dozens upon dozens of instruments that were free and available to use at the time, but have ceased to exist after upgrades... The latest change that has upset me so much is in a new aspect of the "view playlist". When you go to the horseshoe "snap to grid" emblem, there are options for how to space the particular tracks that you place within the playlist. There is a "none" option that has up until now always provided seamless, uninterrupted satin-like movement and tracking of files. Now, after the newest upgrade, when you select "none", the files are moved in increments, which makes working with files that you've recorded in real time very difficult... Give us the true "none" option back, or goodbye forever, because you made your entire interface worthless as a result of that one small change!

I thought it was dope! It’s an album I’d buy on vinyl. Lots and lots of old school hip hop samples and references to old hip hop songs in her lyrics too. I feel like this is something to see performed live. I felt like it was live when I listened. It almost felt like a score. It’s interesting because Dre is known to use musicians to replay the samples instead of leaving the samples on the record like he did on this album. That’s more reminiscent of his 90s (Death Row) production instead of his 2000 (Aftermath) production. Also they gave credit to every single musician in the band/orchestra that was used. I thought that was cool.

This is also a nod to past in general, when talent was measured on pure musicianship and the ability to perform live. The nostalgia is more about the music that made us and how far we have removed ourselves from real music. This album is hands down the album of the year and if you watch the Noochies Live performance my reasoning is backed 💯 Great review

I hate protools soooooo much and I hate apple even more. That will never change. Too proprietary, always changing, iLoK stupidity, the DAW crashes and takes a whole day to install or update, and they make simple things 20x harder than they should be. Nuendo and Wavelab until I die.

I play melodica, I had a bunch of them through the years but they're all too old at this point I have to get a new one.. I always use a Honner, I don't know about this brand yet. My question is: how big is the hand strap? It looks like it fit fine for you, but I saw other reviews saying that the hand strap is too small . Just wondering what you thought about that part of it. Cool video! Play that thing through an echo / delay drenched wet reverb, amazing results. Thanks!
