    Hi there - I got the GTechnique Ultra ceramic coating done on my Model Y (Bought Feb 2024), however, I am not satisfied with the windshield and was wondering if I can apply CarPro FlyBy Forte 2023 on top of it?

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing3 ай бұрын

    @user-yd3jh1pt1i - Firstly thanks for watching! Coatings are fickle - some layer well, others do not. If you opt to coat G-Technique without removing it first the results will be a gamble! In addition to this our experience of FlyBy Forte is that in particular it does not layer well. We would advise to remove the G-Technique prior to coating with the CarPro. Use a good abrasive compound to remove the G-Technique. We would also advise you watch our “Biggest Glass Coating Mistake” video. Instead of using microfibre towel to remove the contaminants, consider using the Iron X Snow Soap (1:8 dilution) as the contact wash over the Iron X and leave it for a few minutes, essentially extending the dwell time, then rinse the snow soap.

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing5 ай бұрын

    @jagayong9333 - First thanks for watching! It’s a good suggestion however, in certain scenarios mechanical action removes more contaminants than chemical action alone. Using a microfibre to remove embedded contaminants such as ferrous contamination is one of those scenarios. However, using a pressure washer rather than a hose would also assist! Hope this helps. • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing5 ай бұрын

    @hugomaferreira - First thanks for watching! Citrus decontaminants are generally more aggressive than snowfoams. The addition of citrus in Avalanche dilutes it so although it has some effect it’s not as pronounced as citrus by itself. Avalanche is an OK product at best - Bilt Hamber snowfoams are a better choice as the ‘wetting’ agents in Bilt Hamber are much more effective! Hope this helps! • @VProjectUKDetailing

    @mojkanayt7758 - Thanks for watching! One of detailings rule of thumbs is to achieve your desired results whilst being as least aggressive as possible! Whilst we can achieve great results using D300 our go to combination for softer paints would be Menzerna Super Finish 3500 with a Rupes Yellow pad! So the Meguiars D300 might be too weak? But I guess it's a good polish, even for an amateur who has never done polishing? So a polish with less abrasiveness than 3000 will be useless for polishing Korean lacquer? And what if I just want to lightly refresh the paintwork because it is in good condition, what would you recommend? @@VProjectUKDetailing

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing7 ай бұрын

    @mojkanayt7758 - No! D300 may be too abrasive! No - at times we have used water only as lubricant for super soft paints to achieve great results so 3000 grit or less could be effective! D300 is a fairly forgiving polish so a good choice for beginners! For a general enhancement it depends on paint hardness and defect level but again in general 3500 is a good choice for soft paints! 👍🏽🚗

    Why not simply use plain water to remove the residue? I.e - spray & wipe with water. (ideally demineralised). That's how i do it. (I use ONR - haven't tried Feynlab yet). ONR doesn't leave much, but it does leave enough for me to want to "rinse". It's largely due to the fact i have a black car. (although the glass also benefits from rinsing) ONR can be buffed away without water, but I feel that it's easier and gentler when using water.

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing Жыл бұрын

    A_NI_MA_L - Like a lot of things in detailing there is often no straight forward answer. Too many variables to answer that question - polisher type?, pad type?, ambient temperature & surface temperature?, paint hardness?, detailers technique?, polish type? - the list goes on 🫣. No two vehicles will be the same either. You should always fully decontaminate, measure paint thickness before starting, do a test section, then measure paint again to see how much you are removing! Then if acceptable levels of removal are achieved at the same time as getting the level of correction you want then in general it should be safe to continue with the rest of the vehicle. Hope that helps? (Or not - LOL) 👍🏽💯🚗

    Greg Sullivan - Firstly thanks for watching and your kind comments. You can use your 5mm offfset. Larger offset means you correct better and faster but you can most certainly use what you have. Buffer trails are less of a risk on glass as it is much harder than paint/lacquer - so it really depends on user confidence. 1 to 2 inches? That's completely meaningless. 2 inches might be 260ml on your snow-foam bottle but it won't be 260ml on that hand-pump and it certainly won't be 260ml in something like an MJJC Foam Cannon Pro. It all depends upon the diameter of the container. PIR is a much more precise means of determining how much detergent you are putting on the surface. Even then, different foam cannons will produce a different density of foam which will affect the dwell-time and effectiveness of wetting. I would say that try to hit the right ballpark figures and then tweak with experience.

    Am I an idiot for putting PBS Beadmaker on Kamikaze Zipang? I'd been searching for the best sacrificial coating and decided on Beadmaker, but hadn't considered the interaction between it and the existing coating...

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing Жыл бұрын

    @Engineering Works - Firstly thanks for watching. First you need to consider why you opted to use Zipang in the first instance? Was it for the protection?, the looks?, or the hydrophobic properties? Essentially - if it was for the protection only - then no you are not an idiot for using beadmaker. If it was for the looks and/or the hydrophobic properties then layering it with beadmaker is counter-productive as all you've done is cover Zipang with beadmaker so what's the point of having Zipang? Most manufacturers will create sacrificial coatings for two reasons - one is to protect the ceramic coat while it cures and secondly to boost the coating rejuvenating its properties. KC is no different. For Zipang we would recommend Overcoat as you'll be safe in the knowledge that it is compatible. However, if you wanted Zipang for paint protection only then layer it with whatever your sealant of choice is. Then it's just trial and error to see what works well inc. Beadmaker. Hope this helps. Weird, because rupes announced that just the blue and white foam had changed structure, but the yellow had kept exactly the same characteristic because already excellent before, and that it had simply changed only the color (darker) and the shape to tell them apart?!, so weird that it's firmer, or does the new curved shape play a role in the feeling of a bigger firmness?!. Otherwise for meguiar's microfiber pads I agree, they are excellent pads, even the DMF5 (finishing) are excellent for correction on softer paints, or finishing on harder paints. Today inexpensive pads that impress me are the SPTA. The SPTA flat beveled edge where the hex-logic curved edges, and even the new flat curved edges (identical to the new rupes) do an excellent job for foam, and their new microfiber versions (grey = cut, white = finishing) and wool (purple = cut, beige = medium cut, orange = finishing cut) D.A professionnal polishing pad range works very well too! . At the moment I like to use the SPTA orange wool professional polishing pad, it cuts and finishes very well in one step! It looks a lot like the rupes yellow wool pad but much cheaper!, moreover the quality is really there. Just like the SPTA purple foamed wool pad (nano/polyfoam), which in my own tests worked exactly like the lake country foamed wool pad purple, but cheaper, so why wouldn't I do without it 😁 Attention the rupes, lake country are excellent but expensive for my taste, the only expensive pads that I buy are the meguiar's microfiber discs which remain almost unbeatable in microfiber pads.

    Abdul Beany - Thanks for watching! Yes - safe for use on paintwork, glass & plastics. Just dilute to the required strength and make sure you don’t use it in direct sunlight or allow it to dry! If you’ve not already done so please check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗

    Will a wax applied by hand be okay after clay mitting?

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing Жыл бұрын

    @hardleyvries2146 - Firstly thanks for watching. Absolutely fine! However after any form of claying we would always recommend machine polishing first to refine the surface to eradicate defects caused by claying! The general rule is no machine polishing = no claying! If you’ve not already done so please check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽😷

    Hello! Is the Rain-X Windshield Washer Additive compatible with G-techniq or Carpro Forte ceramic glass coat?

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing Жыл бұрын

    @andreszeledon1834 - Firstly thanks for watching. It’s a great question. The answer is not in compatibility but in ‘layering’. It’s a topic we cover in many of our videos. Essentially if you add Rain-X additive it will gradually coat/cover either the CarPro or GTechniq coating. So essentially - you may as well use Rain-X coating in the first place and just boost its performance with the Rain-X additive. It is compatible - however in our experience AngelWax is the most similar performing product to CarPro which is why we opt to use that i.e. it will still coat and boost the CarPro or G-Techniq but as they’re similar it’s the best combo! Hope that makes sense!? If you’ve not already done so please check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗

    @@VProjectUKDetailing Thanks man! you do have a new subscriber right here.... So, you prefer to boost your windshield coating (CarPro/GTechniq) with AngelWax. What is your preferred product to use in the windshield water reservoir?

    From what I have read from other people who base actually used this product is that it streaks bad. I am wondering if that degreaser or detergent that they use is what causes this. Also if it would contaminate the wax or ceramic coating causing premature failure in the wax or Cermaic coating. Have you has this issue and what are your thoughts. My last question is since this is an Anti startup product, I would assume you could use this to also prep or clean your panel when preparing for painting??

  • @VProjectUKDetailing
    @VProjectUKDetailing Жыл бұрын

    @btbd2785 - Firstly thanks for watching! Some good points well raised - the only time Gyeon Prep would streak is user error - most likely due to over application and/or using on a non cool panel. If used correctly it will flash leaving negligible residue behind which will not affect waxes, sealants or ceramic coats. Yes, it can be used as pre-paint prep however we would opt to use a dedicated pre-paint prep product if we were decontaminating prior to painting. Hope this helps!? Hi! I have the Rupes Nano mini polisher and i also have the same problem... the 3mm dual action attacment dont speen at all. So i dont use it. I thouth thats mine have some foctory defect but as it seems flex have the same problem. Also the Ruppes tend to stall a lot. I have to take a close watch on the rotation marker. Usualy when i polish headlights i gave this priolem (not ot flat surface) Thanks for the video

    @Nisotovski - Firstly thanks for watching! Yes these polishers just have these issues. The 3mm dual action attachments are designed to be used with sanding pads therefore don’t work well with compounding/polishing pads. However, in the case of the Flex the rotary attachments work a treat. If you’ve not already done so please check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗
