I barely started making game - previously I was "just" an artist for many, many years. I know very little about coding but thanks to people like you I was able to made quite a few things already. Hope you will share more of your knowledge ;) And good luck with your game!

A sad side of neurodivergence is perfectly captured... feeling panicked, struggling to do things that are easy for everyone else, and social consequences of a failure to relate to anyone else.

I have an idea for the specular highlights; specular highlights usually only show up when the normal of a surface is about halfway between the viewer and the lightsource, but there's no normals here since this is a 2d game, so to simulate normals that are cohesive, since the caustic pattern is made similarly to specular highlights in real life, you could take the perlin noise of the speculars and subtract a copy of it translated up a bit to only leave the bits of water which would've been "facing you", and use them for the speculars idk if that made sense I'm pretty tired right now but it could look cool; I'm pretty new to shaders though

i would think that attacking animation at the end, you could solve the "bunching" really easily by adding a collisionshape to each of the gnorms and then it collides with that area2d shape you used for pathing, or atleast a duplicate collision shape, then they might have some "movement" around the monster but never colliding

I am really glad you didn't go with the multiplayer idea, games like that are pretty common but the game you made now is very unique! I also thought the monster would be after the honey blobs in the end Very nice game :)

I only have 2 complaints about this game after completing it: 1. if you make slight adjustments to be more on path, it will slow you down. When you get slowed down, you get in the question mark area, making you need to cut corners. Then of course cutting corners while in the question mark status makes them alert instantly. The best solution I could think of is just making your movement speed a tiny bit faster during the question mark status, or even just increasing your movement speed all together so the player can get out of the phase easier, but they will be getting into the phase a lot more. 2. This is more of a lack of knowledge thing but I kinda lied when I said I "completed it". What I mean by this is that when I got to the hole, all of the keybinds that were used did not let me in. I got to that hole like 8 times and each time I tried a different keybind and even my mouse once, but got caught all 8 times because it just wouldn't let me finish the level.

I think the ending cutscene should be an implication of how the monster eats all of the gnorms, so the player can get sweet revenge on the little buggers!! (for all the pain they caused them)
