  Dr. Farid did both my replacements in July and October. My life was pure misery before I had them done. US doctors told me I didn't need replacement for 12 years and refused to do the surgeries until I turned 50. That was when I was 38. I spent the next 12 years slowly grinding away the cartilage on both hips and developed grade 3 chondromalacia. By the time I saw Dr. Farid, I could barely walk without pain and the antalgic gait became extremely obvious. I am now in months 10 and 7 post-op and doing much better.   Ok, had enough of this. For post menopausal women it is worse than childbirth. After menopause the cervix closes up and becomes stiff. However, we are not offered even LA unless we ask for it. How come, when having a colonoscopy it is presumed that pain relief is required & many options are offered? However, a similar invasive procedure is expected to be endured WITHOUT pain relief? It is presumed that women (due to childbirth) can endure horrific pain. Let me tell you that my recent (attempted procedure) was the worst pain I had experienced in my life. It felt like the Dr was attempting to insert an instrument into my uterus via my poor shrivelled cervix that was red hot & covered by glass pieces. I would like to see any man have an instrument shoved up his penis with no anasthetic & be happy to leap off the table and go home. I nearly fainted with the pain, was pouring sweat & it was very traumatic.

  I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago due to adenomyosis and endometriosis. My monthly period became a week long battle of extreme pain… it was similar to back labor and cramping during childbirth. I could literally feel my uterus contracting like it did when I was in labor. If you have never given birth… it feels very similar to passing an active kidney stone. Imagine just taking ibuprofen for labor or a kidney stone and still be expected to do your day to day task like you don’t feel like your organs are being ripped out of your abdomen like the Mel Gibson torturing scene in the movie Braveheart. To make matters worse, when I had cramps it made me have to use the restroom every 5-10 min. I would have constipated diarrhea and every drop of urine that hit my bladder called for emergency release. The doctor said there was a lot of endometriosis which made my procedure last 5 hours. He removed it from my bladder, intestines, and peritoneum. Which explained why I had to pee or poo 50 times a day when I was menstruating. Up until a feels months ago I had little to no female pain. I would occasionally feel a cyst burst on one of my ovaries (thank you Mirena you POS device that causes life long ovarian cyst issues for its users even after removal) 3 months post hysterectomy was glorious… to be honest I didn’t even realize how significant my pain was every month. It was like I had a new lease on life and I was ready for adventure! 3 months ago…. I started having weird period like cramping for 3 days during my cycle when I would normal have a period…. Ugh! I’m going to track it for a few months and keep a journal… hoping the endometriosis hasn’t grown back….
