HEAP of JEEP

HEAP of JEEP

The new home for HEAP of JEEP. This is our best effort to help all Jeepers learn how to fix up and deal with problems that you will encounter from owning an old Jeep.

Our Current Jeep is a 2002 2.5l Wrangler (manual)

We don't cover everything, but there's a good chance that if you're having problems with your Jeep, we might have run in to the same problem. I do my best to give a "how to" description, but I'm just a backyard mechanic who likes working on Jeeps, so sometimes I just don't have the knowledge or experience to give a real detailed video. In that case, sometimes its just helpful to see how someone else approached a repair, and it can give you an idea of what you might face when you attempt it yourself.

At 6:56 you grab a hose with a white cap. What is that? Doing an engine swap and your videos have been very helpful. This new to me jeep is my first and it has an aftermarket cooling system. That hise is on mine but is not attached on either end ti anything.

He has some good points. The standard has lowered so much over 20 years. I was at a local store yesterday. Its hot and im buying parts . Would you believe 7 people in there and not one person to ring you up at the register. I left 80 dollars of merchandise right on the counter and walked out

Every time I have used them staff is clueless and parts were wrong or fail out of box. Not too different from any other place except, they feel you should be privileged to be there. When dealer parts are cheaper lol.

What are your thoughts about installing the exhaust manifold and intake before installing the engine? I can imagine, maybe, the engine to the transmission bolts are easier to get too?

In Nashville, they were great but where I live now (Ashland City, TN). They were horrible. I stop using O'Reilly's about 3 years ago. They lost my business.

Hey man, I’m sorry that you had a problem. I worked for O’Reilly for over 25 years and I try to give every customer the greatest service ever. I started auto parts and I was 15 years old back in the early 1980s and I’ve got a lot of knowledge I’m sorry you had that experience but O’Reilly was the best auto parts store there ever was.

Excellent video! As with all the electronics, people probably know that the life span of the electrolytic capacitors is greatly reduced especially when higher temperatures are involved...Naturally these 30year old ECM's need those caps replaced in order to function at their optimum performance. Simply by replacing an old ECM with another "new" one from a salvage yard might buy some time but it will not solve the root cause of the problem. Thanks for sharing!

Great review. Sounds like this OBD scanner is just as good as others that cost 2x or 3x more money. Have you tried other more expensive OBD scanners... like BlueDriver for example... ?

RIP-OFF O'Reilly I bought a battery from O'Reilly today, I was told over the phone that they would "PAY" me $10 for the old battery, which they did and then the receipt showed that they then "CHARGED" me $10 to dispose of my old battery. Don't let them have the old battery, take it to the scarp yard and get paid for it. Then their receipt shows they charged me $3 for a "FREE, THREE MONTH BATTERY REPLACEMENT". FREE seems to be the new "F" Word. O'Reilly came into my small town with much lower prices and a smile, until they ran both of the old well established independent auto parts stores out of business, now O'Reilly's is showing their true nature.

Not gunna make an argument occur, but do research auto parts stores and see what requirements they have for being hired. If there’s 0 skill required you may assume there is people who sell you parts that don’t understand basic mechanics. I myself don’t have the knowledge but I am very aware and state I am not the most knowledgeable, however if you can help me then I can help you.

Thank you. This appears to be my problem as well. I just picked up a crank no start 1991 jeep. I checked my pickup coil and the cream shaft position sensor. They all test good. Jumped the fuel pump relay and I hear the pump. Now I just have to find since capacitors. Now that radio shack is no longer

old gaskets get stuck because you dont put any oil on it. that was your first mistake. how could you not smell and hear the massive amount of oil coming out of your engine during the post oil change start up. there is no mistaking a double gasket. you know immediately.
