TheGeekPub

Hey Guys! It's Mike from The Geek Pub. I'm a maker! From Woodworking to Electronics, I make weekend projects that you can make yourself! It's a learning experience for everyone.

I offer regular videos featuring woodworking, electronics, and metalworking that you can watch and then build yourself. Our How-To and learning videos are generally just a starting place for you to make your own design modifications and build them yourself! Mike dives into topics from woodworking, to metalworking, to home improvement. No project is too big or too small.

NOTICE: Some of our videos (such as our PVC air-powered series) can be extremely dangerous and require adult supervision. All projects are for informational purposes only. You assume all risks. Always wear eye protection.

If you build one of our projects, make a video and post it as a video response to our video! We want to see it, and we want our viewers to see it!

Wait. What? NO WAY!

The "profit enhancer" exists on pretty much every label maker now - regardless of brand. You found the workaround: print all your labels without cutting and then manually cut later.

Thanks, @TheGeekPub! Bought your plans, parts, etc. Put together an amazing table for my girlfriend. She's wanted a Ms PacMan for a long time. Nostalgia from her days of going to Pizza Hut and playing as a child. It turned out REALLY well (and gave me an excuse to buy some new tools). A couple of modifications for anyone interested. The USB speakers were no longer available, so I ended up using some BOSS B653 car speakers and a Kinter K3118. For the monitor I had read that the Dell 2007FPB 20 inch was a great monitor for an application like this. Bought one on ebay. Otherwise followed the plans closely. The one mistake I may fix is I should have used the glass as the outline for the top rather than the printed plans. The glass I bought is sized a bit bigger. That's on me for not measuring twice. 🙂 Girlfriend loves it. You made me a hero!

Just a quick Question for chargers. I'm building a 9V battery iPhone charger and I want to use a usb connector as the output. Since I'm doing it from scratch, I'm building all the parts myself. One USB connector in particular has a VCC and GND pin but it also has a D+ and D- as well as SHELL pins. What do these mean and I'm wondering if I should just ground the data pins if its just for a charger.

When making tutorials, we have to start at the lowest common denominator. In 90% of the cases its an unnecessary step. But then there will be that one guy that has a system recovery USB stick with hidden partitions on it that will say our tutorial doesn't work because his drive won't image.

I often wonder what kind of case Apple would have designed for Apple I if that was important during the company's formative years! Maybe it would have looked like Apple II, or perhaps like the other wood - cases electronics of the era. Regardless, your marvelous work is a fitting aesthetic tribute to the machine's legacy.

While having good tools can certainly make a difference, creativity, practice, and learning are key. Start with what you have, and you'll be surprised at what you can create. This could be made with $25 of tools from harbor freight.

@15:37 screwing from the inside through 1.5-2" of framing timber into particle board is not good. The screws will readily rip out of that particle board. Regardless of how it looks, always screw thin/soft into thick/hard materials, you will have 1.5-2" of screw thread grabbing in a relatively firmer material vs 3/4" of the tip into a crumbly material.
