A journey through hollow state radios and their repair, broadcasting of yesteryear, aviation memories, tales of employment at Boeing, owning a Motorola Two-Way Comm dealership, and finally, sub-contracting to NASA, PBS and ABC.
...and what it's like to have lived with MS for 32 years!

Esta rola la escuché con Herbie Mann, pero me encantó la versión de Barrabás
I saw this when i was 2 and i loved this song. My fav song.
Thank you so much for preserving this cheerful slice of greatness. Best game show theme ever and Garry Moore was awesome, along with Bill Cullen and Miss Kitty Carlisle.
Bob Cowsil and the Cowsils singing the theme song.
A parody of parody, what do you call it
Banda sonora de mi infancia volver a oir esta bella canción es como regresar a mi infancia esos días en mi ciudad jugando con el viento corriendo por esas calles polvorientas al ritmo de barrabas
This feels like the oldest thing from 2016
I went on a field trip in Elementary School in 1969 to see this show in New York. They taped two episodes. Great fun for us .
My son used to dance to this when he was 2 😂
This should've been shown on Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
Wow !!!-thanks for posting-looking for it
You're quite welcome! I only knew of Barrabás because of living in South Florida, near Cutler Ridge during the late '70s/early '80s. They were popular among the Miami Scene.
what a classic song😊
Be sure to receive Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as your Lord and Savior so that you can attain eternal life. Ask him in prayer to forgive you of your sins, and that you believe that he hung on the cross, died, and arose the 3rd day.
Is the backup singer homeless?
I remember this commercial.
Weird Al was too nice to sue them for stealing his song.
Hebiemann was here :)
Hope that you enjoyed the HiJack adventure
Don't remember watching the show in syndication, yet somehow I remember this theme song very well--and love it!
What exactly is this? I hope that doesn’t sound stupid hehe
Sorry, your post never alerted! It's essentially a different type of tuning eye tube.
And it was co-written by long time director (starting with Cullen Price and ended in 2000 with Barker Price) Paul Alter and Charlie Fox (wrote love boat, happy days themes)
This commercial was just a distant memory in my head for like 6 years until i finally found it here
Honestly I was looking for this commerical for a while, It was in the depths of my mind since I first saw. I always thought this commercial was a Oscar Meyer commerical and was actually sung by Weird Al lol
The song which inspired Alex to perform "My Pepperona", was The Knack's "My Sharona". It seemed to have received constant airplay throughout the entire summer that year, (1979). For some reason, stations in Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties paired the song with "And The Beat Goes On" , by The Whispers. Many credit "My Sharona" with inflicting the fatal wound necessary to "kill off" Disco. Cheer's, and thanks for the comment!
@@AMStationEngineerIt was an almost exact rip off of Weird Al's My Bologna.
@@zoetercy9208 Google "My Sharona", by the KNACK. They own the ASCAP, preceded Weird Al by more than 1½ years.
@@AMStationEngineer Why are you deliberately avoiding the obvious? Yes, Weird Al's song is a Knack parody, but, this, my friend is a direct rip off of Weird Al....processed meat, accordion and all.
Weird al on a 2 dollar budget be like
What is now in syndication, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune taking up a full hour, it was for most of the 70's What's my Line and To Tell the Truth. Best game show ever. Sadly, the new version on ABC that airs in prime time sucks.
This is totally parodied by Weird Al’s “My Bologna”.
,,, "both", were parodies of "My Sharona", and performed by "The KNACK", in June, 1979. The KNACK was lead by Doug Fieger (on rhythm guitar), who just so happens to be attorney Jeffrey Fieger, of "Greta Van Susteren" fame. (Fox News presented her news analysis shows in "Hollywood Squares"/"Brady Bunch opening title" format. You'll likely enjoy Weird Al's appearance on the Tom Snyder Show, on whom's show "Another One Rides the Bus" debuted circa 1980. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y3udtdafoJm-ZJs.html Soon-there-after, "Another One Rides the Bus" received "mundo airplay" on 1540 WKBW, Buffalo, NY.
When I think of the first song I remember as a small child, it is this one. Born in 1971 and can for sure remember hearing it in 1975-76.
Escuchar a Barrabás, es relacionarme directamente con mis tías Maternas y sus amigas, cuando por 1974, hacían sus fiestas, y éste tema la rompía. ¡Todo un clásico de clásicos de los 70's!!! Cordiales saludos. Luis Puntriano III Callao - Perú 🇵🇪 Sábado 04 de Marzo del 2023. 08:41 Hrs.
Se baila a ritmo BOOMPEN!!
I have Been looking for this bot a long time
In retrospect as my father said, switching to color was not that difficult from a technology standpoint. NBC (the network I dislike the most these days and forever will) was the first color network for all shows. Correct as one post below pointed out, CBS and ABC were slow to follow.
I'll reply later this afternoon, thanks for the comment; we're both on the same page with that opinion. All the best. Cheers!
Shut up Meixner
Demoré casi 10 años en saber el nombre de esta canción y grupo musical, aún no existía la app shazam.
Who’s still watching in 2023???
Usually, it's fossils like myself... Have a great 2023!
after about five years since after i heard this song, i laughed. I first heard this at a movie theater when the commerfcials were playing. I was with my mother and vividly liking it. I have thought about it a few times throughout the years but then i decided to search it up. and there it was - the holy grail. "My Peperona" is a a jingle for the ages. I wish they still make funny commercials like these, but nope. This world is falling apart regardless (Bike-lanes, homelessness, though they are alleviating that.)
This fucking song still haunts my brain.
I miss this commercial!
If Weird Al ever saw this guy, that would probably be the greatest “Son, is that you?” moment of all time.
I'd say it's a safe bet they know each other. Alex and his band regularly play to sell-out crowds at many venues east of the Mississipi, especially at Oktoberfest celebrations, and German/Eastern European music competitions, along with state, county, and other municipal fairs. His schedule usually stays booked well over a year in advance. Cheers, and have a great holiday!
p-p-p- PLAGIARISM
Hell yeah dude this guy rules
this has been stuck in my head for 6 years straight
When I was in second grade, a huge blizzard hit my area, snowing me in on my birthday. On my birthday, I remember seeing this commercial, and thinking it was so funny, that I went back and recorded it with a small camera on my toy watch. The watch broke, but seeing this took me back.
Carnac the Great asks if this was "in Jan/Feb 1977, with the location being Buffalo County, New York, USA?? In lieu of remuneration, Carnac requests that you send a brand-spankin' new jar of Duke's (Real) Mayonnaise to Funk & Wagnall, and demand they fix that damn leaky porch roof, because Ed's hangnail came down with "das Klappen unt der Texas Two-Step", after last week's 'reading'...
LITERALLY HAVE THE SAME EXACT STORY LMFAO
La Evoluvion del Grupo Los Brincos de España con Fernando Arbex a la Cabeza que luego se transformaron en este Grupaso de Musica Afro-Beat Funky considerado poara muchos uno de los mejores grupos de los 70s.
This was the Evolution of the Group Los Brincos from Spain with Fernando Arbex as a Leader, then they became in this fantastic super Group of Afro-Beat Funky Music considered for many people one of the greatest music grup of the 70s..
this is the best version of My Sharona not even The Knacks themselves can top this
Actually, Weird Al's, My Bologna is the best one. ....and the Knack's themselves had it released by Capital Records.
This commercial use to make me laugh when I was little
A great song of my youth days. Just remembered the song and searched. Its awesome
My uncle Wayne Bowers was on the show circa 1976-77 as the truth teller. His unusual story was having nearly 20 brain surgeries after a benign tumor was discovered near his cerebellum. His illness was detected in the early 70’s. So this type of surgery was primitive and experimental at best. He was never expected to survive. But he went on to live a full life. I would be thrilled to find his episode someday. I stayed home from school just to watch it. I was about 8 or 9 years old, and never forgot how excited I was to see my uncle on TV. Unfortunately, he passed in 2016 at age 68. RIP Uncle Wayne, I love you!
1975 SPAIN great memories of the boga boga disco, Torremolinos
Saw them in Miami, and arrived early enough that we watched them arrange their set. We were lucky to have good music (then); today, there is no music. Cheers!
One of my favorite childhood memories of the 70’s watching it on KOMO (ABC) and KIRO (CBS) in Seattle back then.
I have so many questions
I JUST realized this song is a cover/parody of My Sharona.
It's a cover/ parody of Weird Al's, My Bologna.
I just bought a package! 😂
