Cool and fun for the little ones
Nice
Spins like a top 🤣
Nice lil project, Chris
What an amazing idea! Looks like it was a winner 😁💙
I like this Chris...what a great toy for the little ones. Many years ago I made wood toys for "The Toy and Joy The local fire department ran it. Any way after a number of years of bringing them over they no long would take home made toys they had to be store bought. If I can find the plans for my favorite I will send them to you. It was a clever ladder toy. Take care, Gary
@@ThePapa1947 yes! Please send the plans! That would be awesome! I really do love making toys. Maybe I have a little elf culture in me.
Very cool Chris.👍 I always love hammering pegs into holes.😊😊
@@copperowlwoodturning5929 right? Who doesn't love a good hammer opportunity. The hammer is actually one of my favorite tools, it can be used to break apart or bind together, same tool, same motion. It's perfect.
The frame is made from White Bimba and is very dense wood. The pegs and mallet head are pine 2x4. And, the mallet handle is Apple Wood. I only put a CA finish on the handle. Nothing else has any type of finish.
Great job and an excellent learning tool for spatial awareness and problem solving.
Yes, I didn't know all those words, but she is very observant and watches everything. She figures things out and does not give up easy. It is amazing to me how we can see those traits even at this early age.
great video, look forward to the rest of the build.
Thanks so much!
That’s beautiful! Glad she likes it. Cute little one there. The box too.
Well done
Hi Chris, Lovely little box and aa great save on the lid fit. Ended up with a really nice pop fit. She looks like she loves her new box. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
Hey cris this your nibor that first letter that starts with j I’m on vacation with my grand parnts place in Florida I’m back on toesday and I’m subed I was wondering if I can get a shoutout?
@@Linda-y7u Hey Buddy! A shout out short will be up at 9am! Watch for it! Thanks for watching!
Very nice Chris and it looks like the little one likes your work.
@@ThePapa1947 thanks Gary! She is so fun! She loves everything I do. It is so much fun.
Lovely box Chris and what a cute Toot! 😃
@@WeeVal Thanks Val! She is a peach.
Be sure to watch all the way through to see her reaction! She loves taking tops off and putting them back on. All day! Thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel! Colossians 3:23
Carefully puts pacifier down to play with new bottle... so cute!
@@ncoimpact1425 yes! Thanks for watching till the end!
Love working with cherry, great in the wood stove when its cold. Nice work my friend.
@@bobbynash282 yes, I save all scraps and most shavings for fires! So nice. Apple, cherry, the fruit woods are very nice. Thanks for watching!
Dont use it for nature, itsjust reintroducing microplastics which is exactly what we're trying to avoid
I actually only did it once. I thought I could use it as an adhesive, but that didn't work either. So, I am being totally serious, what are we supposed to do with all the Styrofoam? I hate when they use it for packaging and never know what to do with it.
@@BAILEYWOODWORKS I have no idea, I was scrolling through videos trying to answer that question myself. How does it feel when it dries?
@@AceOfStars0 it is like a hard plastic. Sometimes clear, but usually with some airbubles. But, it is about 100 times smaller.
@@BAILEYWOODWORKS maybe you could use it as a shrinkydink
Challenging
Looks great Chris. Nice spalting.
variants of this stuff are used in ballistic body armor. very cool video
Thank you! It is easy to machine, but with a metal lathe I could get better definition. With my wood lathe it is hard to get a smooth curved surface. And, there is NO sanding UHMW! Thanks for watching!
And how expensive is it? Plastics here cost a fortune. Amazing to think plastic used to be thought of as cheap and nasty! Cheers Chris.
@@MarkMcCluney I will have to look into that. This is an off-cut from work. I don't really recommend it though, very stringy. And the strings don't break like resin. Very tough. Could be grabby maybe.
I have a cut-off that is 2" x 2" x about 5 feet long. I could buy that for about $120.00
That sounds like a good price to me. A lot of years ago, when Kath and I still made science demonstrations and theatrical props, we dropped in on a company in Belfast who supplied plastics hoping that they had a scrap bin. A very nice lady found a piece of Lucite about a foot long and maybe an inch in diameter - they wanted thirty five pounds! The best part of fifty dollars, I guess. And that was about twenty years ago! So much for plastic being cheapo! Well, your stuff looks like a better option, I'll have a look round for it here. Thanks Chris, this has been an education! Cheers mate.
Beautiful grain, thanks for sharing
Thanks Allen!
Love me some apple wood too. Very nice bowl. Great job.
Thanks Doug! I love when I find these old pieces. Sometimes people put them in their landscaping, but after dark they are easy to acquire.
Gorgeous Chris! 😃
Thanks Val!
Love the bowl. That carnauba wax does an amazing job. I use it on my guitars, along with some lemon oil.
The car wax is so easy to use and is a LOT cheaper than "woodturners wax". Be careful though, I bought some green stuff that stains the wood. The pink seems to be ok. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful bowl, Chris. 😊 I love the old apple too.
Thanks Rob! It tends to cut very smooth also! I didn't have to do a lot of sanding.
Gosh, that's a ton of work compressed into fifteen minutes. And my heart sank at the dihedral angles part - I thought you were going to have to start all over again. Phew! And I love the Yellowjackets-style music; that took me back a bit! Cheers Chris, this is really coming along.
It is fun doing it piece by piece. I am sure there is a better way and I plan on learning more as I go, but for now I am have a blast! It just builds anticipation for the final assembly!
I enjoyed it at the time. Been to many years to count now lol. Even tho lm only 64 now wow am l that old now. Youve got better glue, sanding ect. Should be much easier now. Great work , enjoy it while you can.
It is a lot of tedious work. I think I will learn more patience and to be more detailed. Thanks for watching brother!
Looks good.
Nice
Okay how many times do you cut and glue
more than once brother, more than once...
Interesting
Brilliant hack and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Bram
COOL, my wife loved the music. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY @
That's cool brother

I tried to do this before and seem to have failed. RC planes and helicopters are my other main hobby. I never did any free flight, like this model, but I did control line and RC planes back in the 70s and 80s. Then I rediscovered the hobby in 2013 with helicopters and have been flying again ever since. You should be able to modify the tail on this model to make it RC if you want. Good luck! George
Ok. I have a question then. I thought it said free flight, but there is a motor. Does it just pull the plane straight? What is free flight?
@@BAILEYWOODWORKS, sorry, we've been traveling. Free flight is where the plane is launched and flies on its own with no control from the modeler. Normally the rudder is slightly offset to cause the plane to fly gentle circles so it isn't so prone to fly away. Also, there are indoor free flight contests, where extremely light, rubber powered models are flown inside large hangers or stadiums. The planes are extremely slow flying.
@@santageorgesworkshop4058 I have been watching some KZread videos. Not sure this one will ever leave the ground since it is just getting my feet wet. Next one will be all in though! Thanks for watching!
Wow, this is a pretty big thing. Be sure to build it somewhere with doors big enough to get it out. Cheers Chris, I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of this.
Good point! I may have to build it in the Garage! Then I plan on sending it to Satellite City for display. That will be a big box!
Sounds fun.
A long time ago, sadly l was very much into gas powered planes. I built myself a few, bought a few. I always loved it. My best was a P38 lighting. Still interested just life got in the way. I'm very interested in this plane of yours. I ll be here to follow along.
I may be messaging you with questions then! Thanks for watching Bobby, and do not hesitate to offer advice!
This is going to be fun! I love a good challenge and this is a big one! Stick with us and add helpful comments so we can build something we all are proud of!
Satellite was/is an incredible freeflight, I can help if needed
A brilliant idea and a great job! cheers Bram
Thanks Bram! The wood was great to work with.
Very nice Bailey!
Thanks Doug, this is the first time for me turning Birch.
Nice use of some Birch counter top!
I always try to give something back when someone gives me wood. This was a good kitchen accessory. Thanks for watching Gary!
Nice work, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Allen!
What a great piece well done.
Thanks Alan!
That's great Chris! 😃
