Welcome to the PDFA
Discflect is a team-based flying disc sport which features throwing and deflecting a disc at or into a goal. PDFA, or Professional Discflect Association, is the governing body for the sport who will also organize tournaments via the community of players. Check out the latest action here for all things discflect.

These fits aren’t very good at all. I have seen others aiming and going into the slot during tournaments
It's a game of 4's
12:42 I know this is from a long time ago but is this legal to hit the disc twice? Even if it bounces back up?
Woooo
DINGER!!!
That’s pretty darn impressive
Me and my buddies play with a beer in our hands. We could smoke these dudes
Yo, Grandpa Rick! I'm proud of you 👏
34 teams? And this is the championship? This is the best of 34 teams? Funny stuff.
This is not the Championship tournament, this is a smaller, indoor tournament. We see a lot of 3-pointers in this series. Not sure what else they should be doing to be the best! No one is throwing slots on every throw…
How did I end up in this comment section...I genuinely don't know the answer to that question.
Not knocking these competitors, but totally agree with others: two hands is lame. Also, like most people, we play outside in the elements and it makes things WAY more interesting to deal with wind.
So sweet that the players entire extended family pulled up to watch
pretty cool game
You can’t use two hands
excellent, I have just discovered the discflect, I bought a game, I am in France, excellent that there is a challenge, I will buy several discs to improve my throws and I will come to make this challenge. For the moment, I think I'm the only French player who plays discflect with a friend, it's just not easy to send the disc straight.
One throw too late to be the nicest challenge
Are there any plans for a full video of this tourney?
Yes, Gatekeeper Media is working on a video right now for us, and they’ll post on their channel once it is done (looking at January).
kzread.info/dash/bejne/qH9l1NOqaLirnso.html SOMEONE NEEDS TO SHOW THE MATTESON BROTHERS MY EDIT OF THEM
Are there any plans for a full video of this tourney posted?

great kanjam! amazing tip game! competitive juices were flowing!
Can’t wait for the 2022 tournament!
i challenge you guys to a game i bet my life i would win
So if your down against the other team and they have 21. If you make this shot is it in an overtime or do you win?
Great question! Assuming you are the team that is throwing second, if Team A gets 21 and then your team throws it into the slot, you win the game. There is no overtime in this case.
Kiddo buddies, I get it in the slot evry time kiddo buddies
Should only be allowed to tip with one hand. And wondering whether delay is legal?
The rules do allow to deflect with either one or two hands, but there is no rule indicating you must deflect with one hand only, unless there is a modified tournament format. Yes, players are allowed time in between throws, which is outlined in the official rules at section 15.04: www.pdfa.com/rules/#throwing
@@thePDFA By "delay" I'm not referring to time between throws. I'm referring to maintaining the spin of the disc by use of a fingernail delay, as in freestyle.
Hopefully actual video of the tournament will be posted at some point.
This is a quick highlight video of some shots from the day, but there will also be a longer video coming from Gatekeeper Media as well. Thanks!
are the matteson brothers gonna make an appearance this tourney?? they are my favorite
I could turn pro rn
2 hands ain’t real kan jam
Why is it so quiet and boring there? An awesome game ruined by a tennis style atmosphere 🤦♂️
We hear ya! It’s not usually like this, that has more to do with the limited production we had for this one…but we agree that the outdoor tournament games are more fun to watch.
There's a reason sports are broadcast at 30fps and not 60fps. You should only shoot at 60 if you're going to slow it down to 30 for slow motion for your final product. Uploading video at 60fps makes it feel like your eyes are having a seizure.
Best regards to Eric, Dan, Kim, of course Josh and his Dad; good people, great players. Always made it a fun day! The last old school event was an informal get-together at Swisher’s house. It was a blast. Moving the cans back to 60 and 70 feet for some games and just letting it rip with the 175s🔥 There may be some video of that. Switching partners for a few games was awesome. Both games have their advantages. Tipping Gregg’s throws at 50 feet with a 175 always required athletic tape and ice for a few hours. Josh has the hands of a polar bear. He could tip a dump truck into the Niagara River with a Molson Export in his other hand😅
Thanks John, we definitely remember the informal tourney with the old cans at Swish's. We do have video of it we shared on other social channels a couple months ago, we'll try and add that one on KZread as well. Haha, yes he is definitely one of the best at deflecting no doubt.
This is an amazing post. Thanks for the all the memories, John (and a new one about my hands lol)!
Is there a one-handed division?
We should have more information on divisions in the coming weeks once we have team registration up. But there will be both Pro and Amateur Divisions. Teams can register based on their skill level (more on how to determine that will be coming on our website) and can play either one-handed deflecting or two-handed. The sport has always had the choice; you are not limited to one or two hands, as long as there are no double-hits or carries, the deflection is legal.
This is nice, but try it old school. 20 gal galvanized trash cans. Discraft Chameleon 175s (actual aerodynamic frisbee, not the dinner plate sold with the game). No slot. Drastically reduces “carrying”. Too bad there’s almost no video of Rochester Killer Bees, James Gang, Hammerheads, HooWah, Chronic Bucketeers, Father & Son, et al. The party and the sportsmanship were a big part of the game.
Hi John! An old school garbage can tournament certainly would be fun, but definitely much harder logistically to scale. However, we did change the rule for the sport in regards to discs. Players can now use any flying disc of any brand within the specs, which includes the weight of 160 to 175g. We tested this last year at a couple "beta" tournaments, and players loved the option to use their own disc of any brand, which would include the classic Chameleon. The 175s are much better in the wind. Here's more on that rule on our website: www.pdfa.com/bring-your-own-flying-disc/ Totally agree - we wish we had more footage of the early days. We have some of you (Tang), Killer Bees, and James Gang from 2003-2004 timeline, but almost no footage other than a couple photos prior to 2003 (which is when we started shooting video). If you or anyone else has any older content to share, let us know.
It’s like one of the commentators was given a top of the line mic. And the other was given a $20 gaming headset to talk through 😂 awesome game though
No big deal looks like they got behind 1 or 2 games and literally just got lazy with the jams and HOW can their slot shots miss so bad???
There’s a pro sport for everything
Boo playing this way is boring and lame.. no fun at all
Oh wow
Hi. In 1:20, why doesn't the player try to score?
Good question! It's a strategy - by not going for a throw that didn't seem makeable for a 3-point bucket, they caught it to stay on the numbers. This allowed them to close the game out in the next two rounds with 4 buckets (3-pointers). Had they went for the play and only got one point, this would force one of the players to throw a two-point shot (direct hit), which is more difficult and requires much more precision.
@@thePDFA Thank you! That was my guess, but in the video It looks like the player is closer to the bucket than he really is, probably. Looking forward to play this game with my students in my PE classes. Greetings from Spain.👍
How to make frizbee more gay. 🌈
Anyone using 2 hands in Kan Jam should have their ass kicked. You HAVE to have a beer in one hand if you’re playing Kan Jam.
They need a beer in their free hand
this video sucks
Popular game..24 ppl came to watch..kan jam..the sport for guys that arent good at sports..
Why tf are these guys commentating like it's golf. Pave your own way, dudes.
If you make the frisbee into the top of the can unassisted does that also count for a instant win or is the slot the only way to instantly win?
You are correct - the slot is not the only way to throw an Instant Win. If the disc is thrown into the top of the goal unassisted, that is also an Instant Win!
WHERE'S PAUL MCBETH?
get the mic out of your mouth lol
What the hell am I watching
Why is this a thing?
