    Yep everyone has nostalgia for a huge corporation that took over all the privately owned businesses sucking any soul out of the rental shops. I was born in 80, and was going to rental shops since I was about 4 and 5. I remember the Mom and pop shops, then I remember in the 90s seeing the "Wow what a difference" blockbuster commercial and thinking WTF is this,what is blockbuster. A few years later that was all there was. But my fondest memories are from the mom and pop shops from 84 to about 92, and even as a super young kid at the age of 4 and 5 I was drawn to the Horror section. I new I couldn't watch them, but I remember seeing the Nightmare on elm street box art and flipping them over looking at the screen shots on the back. Dario Argento Demons was one that always scared me, cause on the back they had the demons face bending out of the TV set. Fright night, all the horror I was just drawn to. Now I have over 12000 movies all digitally ripped into a Kodi and stored locally on raid arrays. I love horror as an adult that wonder never left. I love all movies but horror genre especially. There was a rental store on every block in the 80s, some of the ones I went to were Adventures in Video, and Video Update.

    Before 'Blockbuster' and 'Hollywood Video' hit the scene, we had smaller chains called 'West Coast Video' and '48 Hours Video' here in eastern Pennsylvania. It was those smaller video stores that helped me discover, and love, animated movies like 'Light Years' from 1987 (actually known as 'Gandahar'), and 'Warriors of the Wind' from 1984 (actually known as 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind'). I still retain great memories from those days.

    The Yomega assemblies at my school lasted from 2000 to 2002. I wanted to attend the X Games assembly at my next school but couldn't. But I was okay with it since I got to see one of my favorite movies instead.

    Hi guys, I own the Anniversary Edition. I'm thinking about getting a second one. Which one would you recommend A&A 1940 Europe or A&A 1914? How is the balancing?

  • @NerdOutWithMe
    @NerdOutWithMe17 күн бұрын

    1940 Europe will offer pretty classic A&A gameplay focused just on the European theater. If you already like what A&A delivers, then you'll like this - though keep in mind that if you already have the Anni edition, 1940 Europe is essentially just more of the same. A&A 1914 offers a markedly different experience thanks to one major rule change that makes it feel quite different. Fights are long, slow slogs mirroring those in WWI. Your troops will get locked into futile battles for long stretches. If you want something a little different, 1914 is the better choice. Just be prepared for a longer, more grueling game!

    Really fell apart for me when Becky turned, though I was already not really getting the mechanics of the invasion or even the objective of it. I know he spared her duplicate and only killed his own back in his office or whatever, but does that mean that the snatching is done remotely when the human falls asleep? So why are they handing out pods in town or even distributing them on trucks then? Also, doesn't it make him immune that he killed his clone?

    It's still a fun game, that I really enjoy playing, but unfortunately Days of Wonder has axed the website, killed off the scenario editor and didn't reprint the campaign books, that are now sold for insane prices on the likes of Ebay. Not using the occasion of the 80th anniversary of D-Day to breathe some new life into the game by bringing out a new expansion or reprint also feels like a missed opportunity to me.

    Steve Martin’s script is being faithful to the French 1897 play Cyrano De Bergerac. Roxanne is supposed to fall for Christian even though it should be obvious that the rouse is going on and Cyrano is allowing it to happen.

    Spuds playing drums was my favorite moment in the ads (which you barely mentioned). They actually had the drumsticks moving so it really looked like he was playing (although not in any shots you showed). Also the woman in the green dress in the Dick Clark interview at 3:20 is extremely familiar, like maybe she was also in a sitcom - I'm trying to place her.

    I had one. The biggest problem I saw, is that it just wasn't any fun. It was easy to do, don't know how people got hurt on them because they were so easy, they just weren't fun after about 3 minutes. It was a very short-lived toy. The pogo stick was a much better toy IMO. My favorite 80's toys were Lego, Voltron, He-Man, and Transformers.

  • @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy

    @@NerdOutWithMe Oh yea. I bought it as an adult because I never got it as a kid. I had to play with my friends Voltron. I made it the best I could out of Legos. Then a few years ago, Lego came out with a Lego Voltron, so it combined two of my childhood favs, so I have that now. Can't bring myself to open the box though.

    We Gen Xers don't know how good we had it. The kids that grow up today without internet, cable, or satellite get an absolute borefest for Saturday morning television. All Edju-tainment crap, with more emphasis on the "edju". I'll take seeing a mouse blow up a cat with dynamite over watching an antelope give birth at the zoo, any day! But Gen Z will never know the joys we had!
