I have CaribSea Golden Sunset in a 125 gal, a 75 gal and a 55 gal with Black Diamond blasting sand and then a 20L with aragonite. I'm on the verge of trying pool filter sand on a 20H which is a designated grow out tank that's loaded with Mbuna Kenyi juveniles right now . The blasting sand took about 15-20 mins to rinse out (I would fill a five gal bucket bout half way and run the garden hose in it till the water runs clean). The CaribSea took about 5-10 mins to wash out and the pool filter sand took about 5-10 mins as well to wash out, For the price of the pool filter sand and blasting sand (around .20-.25 cents a pound) I would definitely go with those two again, but the CaribSea is around $1.20 a pound these days so I don't think I'll be going with that any time soon. I wish I knew about the pool filter/blasting sand trick years ago as I've spent more money to put pet store brand sand in my 125 gal than I spent on pool filter/blasting sand on all my other tanks, I don't have a one I like better than the other it's all just the price for me now.

It always interests me that captive snakes dont like grass, plants, anything to climb on to curb boredom. That they just like to sit in little huts with a tub of water. In the wild they travel & search for food & encounter vegetation, the sun etc but captivity they must have no desire

Wow did I make a mistake. Don't know how I could do this but forgot to rinse this stuff before throwing it in as a cap for dirt. Do you think the filter will eventually remove the dust out of the water? If not I'll have to remove all of it and start over. 😩

Sorry to be extremely BLANT. 1) As slick as this looks, there will definitely be a spill, chickens do not eat with forks and knives with all table manners. 2) because this feeder has plenty of food inside, that is an invitation for rodents and other little birds to pester the chicken. 3) This long pipe seems to be awful long, that would not fit inside my coop. 3) the inside of the pipe is dark for the chicken to see because she puts her whole head inside and the shoulders block light. What I did for my Rhode Island whites, KISS. Keep it Simple & Sweet (not stupid). I have 2 feeders. One is 1½ Gallon with 4 holes. Because one hen is a bully she wants to eat alone almost and chases away the others. So I got this 2-gallon pail from the hardware store for less than $15.00. including lid. I made 2 holes; in the middle, I glued a separator so the 2 chickens could not see each other while they fed and there was no pecking. The 2 docile hens will stay in the Airbnb coop, and the other quarrelsome and feisty ones will be moved to the little Alcatraz coop which has plenty of room for 2 hens and a cozy and ample egg nest and good run. I used a utility knife and a file. The End.

Chris I know you built this a few years ago so and I think you might be able to provide some updates on how this is working. My main questions are: how well is it stacking and holding up? How did the heat tape idea work out was it hot enough to go through the PVC. Trying to see if I 1/2 inch PVC is enough. Thank you
@Chris_Graham26 күн бұрын
i have three of them stacked still since this video, and all three have been transported from NJ to SC without issue. Still using the heat tape and it does create enough belly heat and the female burms are about 12' long now and feeding on large rabbits and digesting great and doing well.

If you had used a heat gun and a thin putty knife to break the seal, then lifted gently on the frame you wouldn't have cracked it. Silicone will be a real headache the next time you need to remove, reseal the hatch unit. I would have used marine grade butyl tape - I've used marine grade butyl tape on deck fittings, hatches for decades - never had a leak.

Omg, your first decision (roof idead) was way better, are you gonna put AC for the hot summer months if not that's gonna be a Dutch over, the smells is gonna be bad for the ducks & whomever gotta clean it, also yah will smell those fumes walkin in & out of that area 😆😂🤣 Add window on top of the doorway, keep original roof options & add chicken wires on sides of new roof (better alternative as planned in original idea). That little 2-inch opening you got there isn't gonna ventilate shit 🤣 It's covered by two areas of wide & covered wood, amazing work, but would you wanna live in it with no windows, AC/ventilation & a bunch of other ducks & their hot shit, pee & breath all over you 😆 add original idea 😂Can you add dimensions & supply list of your original idea 🤣 Great Job, stay blessed, thx 🌻

Nice video dude. I’ve been wanting to build an 8’ x 3’ (or 4’) x 6’ pvc enclosure for my Tiger Ratsnakes. If your putting Burmese pythons in there I would only be concerned with bottom panel and the weight of the snake. To me it just seems like there should be more support underneath. Otherwise I really like the set up. Thanks for sharing.
