Hi Keith, I have a 2023 GU and it handles itself very well in slippery conditions ( Recently been on a very muddy Swallowtail Pass and Slippery Araluen Rd). I've looked on eBay for the Harley rear rack, but none of the displayed options seem to be suitable. Do you ahve a link to the one you bought? Thanks Chris

Excellent! Really good look at the country, partly because of the peaceful behavior of the sidecar outfit! It seems you don't need to concentrate on the gravel as much as on two wheels; but you showed a few years back, that it's good on real bush tracks as well, better than a car (I reckon - perhaps not on a highway 😊). I suppose you've considered a sidecar dealership? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks , yeah the Ural is great for back roads and can tackle a lot of terrain , mud sand etc where I would struggle on 2 wheels. My bike is only 1WD , I cna imagine that a 2WD woud take me even further in the bush.

I just love riding my URAL side car outfit. Did some extra riding and my battery died. Was in a good mood and invited to a guy's house for a cold drink and he showed me pictures of him racing a Trident at Daytona in the 1970's. So cool. Racing against Kawasaki triples and Honda 750 fours. Never have racing like that again. Living out of a van. Familys were there ,a real good time.

Save yourself $400. Spend $25 on 16' of 3/16" (0.187") ID clear plastic tubing and some red transmission fluid (Marvel Mystery oil works too). Zip-tie a 2.5' loop to a yard stick and inject 20ml of red fluid into the loop. Warm the engine to operating temperature. You'll have two 5.5' lengths of plastic tubing to take vacuum from the 3/16" ports on each throttle body; they're the ones with the small plastic caps. If necessary, balance and set the TB's at idle with no throttle applied using the 3/32" hexhead screws & 5/15" locking nuts on each TB, matching the fluid levels on each side of the loop as you adjust to the desired idle speed. I set the idle just high enough to extinguish the alternator light. Then balance the TBs at the cable adjusters holding the throttle off-idle to around 1000 to 1200 RPM. This procedure applies to Urals 2019 and newer.

Not pushing it is the best advice! Drive it at 100 you will have problems, drive 80-90 and you will be fine. In Canada where I am most highways are 90 to 100. I can cruise in the slow lane at 80 and have never had issues with traffic or mechanical failure. My Ural just died at 230000km (2008) looking forward to getting another. The new 2023 is an actual modern machine (and the oil leak issues have been fixed this year) This one will be my main vehicle as I am now in Southern Ontario and winder riding is fun.

  • @CreakyRider
