What settings u use for ace pro?
As I mentioned in the video, I shoot both cameras with recommended underwater settings. That's 4k 50, standard profile
Nice video but music volume is so anyoing
My bad!
thank you for the video. i have a question, for the best underwater setting with an action camera, what kind of tray and dive light do you recommend? do you have a single hand tray (with dive light connector) that you can recommend?
I'll link the action cam tray I have, it's great www.backscatter.com/Backscatter-Wide-Double-Handle-and-Tray As for lights, I'm currently working on a review of the lights I currently use, which pair really well with action cams. Will be out soon 😁
Beautiful
Thanks!
So awesome mate! Stunning work once again! Keep it up!!
Thank you 🙏🙏
great review. please make the background music in the future 3 times less loud
Noted with thanks 👍
Thats a cool video i wanna ask permision to take a few video for my credit opening, i will put the source, can i?🙏
Sorry, don't allow any use like that 🙏
I moved from the Gopro 10 to Osmo action 4. Apart from the lack of third party lens support for Osmo 4, that could make you stay with Gopro. I find the Osmo better colour and easier to use. The Insta 360 is a 8 bit colour camera, it can not compete with colour grading compared to a 10 bit camera. The Osmo 4 in shallow water using standard colour is good and I use for entry and exit shots. Anything under water that's deeper then I use log. In the video above, its not clear of the settings. Correct colour settings have a significant effect. The sample video doesn't really reflect my experience with the Osmo 4. I'd say the Osmo shots on the sample video seem lack luster. compare to a video on tube here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWmo1ZV9Zdm7crQ.html
Lack of lens support is killing me. I also had the GP10 before. Thanks for sharing your experience using the OM4! They are honestly both great cameras. I'd love for the Ace Pro to have 10 bit & log support, but not so much so for underwater. Let me explain. We tend to choose LOG for a couple of reasons; Either due to the dynamic range of the scene we are trying to capture or to give us a more neutral starting point in post. When it comes to dynamic range, on average there's about 8 stops underwater. A far cry from the 16+ stops we capture on land under various lighting scenarios. The standard (or similar) picture profile on most cameras will capture 8+ stops. And while LOG does create a more neutral image, it doesn't pick up more colors than other picture profiles. Comes down to how (or how much) you like to grade in the end. However you can run into banding issues even when shooting in 10 bit, but that's mostly when visibility goes to shit in the deep. As I mentioned in the video, I shoot both cameras with recommended settings. Rec.709 lut on the OM4 footage. Neither camera receives any color correction except for the few times mentioned. Could I push this footage more in post? Oh absolutely. Both cameras! But in the interest of a comparison video, I wanted to do just that, compare.
This channel deserve 10x the followers!
You might be lost sir, but you are quite right 😁
Did the dive site was 313 Wreck in Koh Tao? I went there on beginning of May and the ship mass, barracudas kinda spark my memory.
That's right, good eye 😁
@@AquaticImages if I ain’t see your series in Koh Tao I might not have confidence though😂
@@WT.Mean1539 haha nailed it!
Wow! What an eye opener! Thank you so much for this very valuable information! And despite what you may think, people do use Nikon for shooting video, like I do with my W300. :)
Haha sorry, was meant to be a bit of sarcastic humor there 😅 Nikon is alright!
@@AquaticImages I was so traumatized that I had to call all of my 14 therapists for counseling. They all told me to crack open a beer and read my Bible, which I did. I read the Nikon W300 User Manual until I cried myself to sleep, but only after ordering some white balance cards online. May Nikon Bless you.
@@nicodemuspapadopoulos4708 😆😆
When the thumbnail shows a different island xD
Haha true, but they're close neighbors 😁
Great footage! What is the best time of year to dive there?
Thanks 😊 I find each year is different. Generally we say mid Nov through to mid Feb, but some years the whale sharks and mantas show up in March/April so you never know. Jan/Feb is generally super nice tho
@@AquaticImages Thanks for reply ... I am highly considering to dive this area.
@@underwatermarvels3206 bio diversity & dive sites are amazing. Prices good too 🤙
Lovely moving pictures!
Thank you kindly hombrero!
very nice footage !
Thank you 🙏😊
What is the title of the background music? It made the video even more majestic than it already is!
Couldn't agree more! It's a track by Scott Holmes, unfortunately I can't recall the song title
hello,Is the visibility of seawater unrelated to the new moon and full moon while diving in Similan?
Many things can affect visibility in Similans. I'd say the moon is more likely to cause currents, especially leading up to and after full moon. This can in turn bring in murkier water.
So so nice 👍👍👍
Thank you Jen for choosing to do training with me 🙏 Had a lot of great dives 😊
How about using a red filter?
At the time of making this video, there was no red filters available for either model which is a shame. There should be options for red filters out now. If you are taking either camera scuba diving, I would get a red filter. In the shallows doing snorkeling and duck diving, I wouldn't bother. Hope that's helpful :)
I will take responsibility and explain the true difference of this cameras and which camera should you choose for uw videos based on your needs and skills: Ace pro has better colors out from the box, basically if you are not into color grading and want some decent footage ready to share, just no questions go for Insta 360 ace pro. Action 4 has a huge benefit for content creators who are more in control of the image colors, as action 4 offers "10bit d-log" this monster is for you, but as this person you already should've made the choice :D also in action 4 you can lock shutter speed manually to follow 180 degree rule, this might be useful for achieving cinematic motion blur. I personally moved from gopro to action4 recently and action 4 d-log videos in DaVnici Resolve just impressed me with the color range i can work with.
Thank you Danny for your comment. Just a few corrections based on my use and experience; - Ace Pro does indeed have better colors out of the box, but also better colors in general, especially at depth. Shooting in LOG isn't going to magically bring out colors that the camera never registered in the first place. On land however, I completely agree that shooting in LOG & 10 bit is highly useful, however underwater there isn't much need for the extra dynamic range to begin with. - You can use manual exposure on both cameras, making it easy to follow the 180 degree shutter rule if needed. However doing so on action cameras isn't always recommended. Action cameras rely on electronic stabilization, which in turn need higher shutter speeds to function optimally. So if you are capturing footage with lots of movements, typical of underwater, letting the shutter run high will probably give you better results. Cheers for highlighting this for me, there's always things I wish I had included in the video after the fact haha.
beautiful !
Thank you! Koh Tao is nice this time of year 😊
lovely stuff
Well thank you 🙏💙
feel like this review is slightly biased. mostly because the vid provided for the action cam seems much worse compared in other vids and the affiliate link for the 360.
No video is provided, every shot in this video is captured by me. I also explain in the video how I capture it, using the recommended settings for both cameras. The end comparison result is for you to visually judge. You don't have to reach the same conclusions as me. However, if I went back to reshoot it, results would be the same.
@@AquaticImages the acepro is the better camera no doubt. but your vid just makes it feel like you are putting the osmo 4 down for the promotion.
@@tymon5349 I see. Not my intention
Did you need the dive case or just used them as is? Thank you
@@Sheeeerkhan I always take action cameras as is with no housing when going for snorkeling, as I won't go deeper than the maximum rated depth of 10 / 18 meters when doing so. However this will in theory facilitate your cameras death quicker haha. Constant exposure to salt water does no electronics any good, even if it's rated for it. Going scuba diving I always put them in the housings however!
What about the Sony Alpha 1?
In my later years I've come to the realization most cameras do better with red filters on than not for most situations where you wouldn't use lights
thank you for this complete review
My pleasure 😊
This is a smooth review!! Loads of good information here! Now...I'm in the market for reading tablets. Can you please make some review videos on those?
Thanks hombre 🙏 Maybe if they start making them for underwater I'll review 😁
Gh4...no filter?
Glad to see someone still rocking the classic cameras 🤙 Yeah, slap a filter on it 👌
Very helpful and good practice for in or out of the water!

Im currently looking into locations to snorkel off shore and diving sites that are not too widely known. Were you near Koh Tao etc. or closer to the shore of the main land?
This is Chumphon Marine Park, on the mainland. Good for snorkeling at the right time of year but not well setup for non-native speakers yet
@@AquaticImages yeah exactly. Did some research and finally found something on the different sites/islands there are to explore. Any suggestions where to book a tour? Online most of the tours are more expensive than usual but that might just be because it’s less touristy
@@ark4048 haven't done any snorkeling trips there so can't recommend I'm afraid
Hi, you mentioned third party straps for the avanquatro. Can you tell wich ones? Because i dont like the originals too.
Don't have the link anymore, but found some on eBay

Excellent advice and thank you for sharing. Love the short Titan Triggerfish segment as it adds just the right touch of humor to your presentation!
Thank you! 😊
A great video! I'll check out the chumpon soon when I'm on Koh Tao in February. You shot very nice underwater footage, I'm looking forward to more! I will also try to get such great footage and continue to watch your channel and learn from you. Best regards from Germany.
Nice Patrick! Just FYI this is Chumphon Marine Park, located on the mainland. Not to be confused with Chumphon Pinnacle, a dive site near Koh Tao 😊 Anyways have fun!
What about the batteries?
