Might just change mine as I really like the push to do the span seems like a pretty good mod. Fantastic demonstration, the Icom 706MK2G in my Gas 2.4L 2007 Sonata NB can whack 20dB lower ignition noise, but not all the time, it needs some user threshold adjustment. Your excellent Video here is the ONLY real demonstration applicable to my Jewel of a TS-440-SAT radio I got on ebay, for $280 USD last March!!! I bought it from a merchant with tons of more expesive used ham equipment, many photos and honest that it has no dial light, and (still) doesn't transmit. But NO pesky PLL SonyBond cement caused PLL dots issue, but I am not chancing that going mobile and humidity causing issues. BUT I thought it did not have an NB feature at all, which would be great on 160m 22kHz interference at home. So I have it on 1795KHz AM Wide BW and the buzzing hum is S9 + 10dB, with ATT OUT. My 440 shows NO response at all, to pressing the NB button, but this is not ignition or injector noise, which you so aptly demonstrated. I heard the slight delay as the circuitry homes in on the noise level, and likely the AGC is responding to the noise reduction. No clicking was heard either. Hopefully the NB turn on wire is broken. I bought a used TS-520 NB board to add to my R599, which has even better crystal filters and with 10x all filter and audio caps, sounds very warm thru a B&O S-45 speaker! Thanks to the ebay aggregator site PicClick.com which I scoured for and immediately purchased every available 440 filters and accessories, and did the Blue White Dial LED mod very successfully. Also, since TX mode lights RED OK, but never shows any RF output, or increase in the 13.8V/2A Receiver current drain initially, now it hits 10A in TX, and the back heatsink gets hot because the FAN never kicks on. Going to DISCONNECT the main 13.8V wire to the PA board, AND reroute the Driver input coax to the SPARE jack on the rear panel, to check the Driver board output (if any) on a spectrum analyzer. No worries, Mate, I also bought a spare PA Board, It's RF transistors used on ebay, AND some imitation Toshiba finals that are well rated by CB Amplifier repair guys. Now I have all the filters, Voice Annunciator board, Serial Interfacing IC's and the front S Meter/Display LED mod is magnificent. The 440 also has an excellent Biquadratic OP AMP based AF Notch Filter, I thought didn't work - just turn the NOTCH control very slowly to find the notch. Better than my ICOMs', because it isn't DSP, nor LOCKED OUT in CW mode. You can tune out an adjacent CW or carrier signal very effectively, with the great 500Hz CW filter in or out! Go and look at the wonderful reviews on eham dot net, the most loved feature is NO MENUS, high 200W input, and excellent Kenwood sound from Bluetooth if plugged into the Earphones jack. Now you have given me something else very important to investigate, the apparently excellent Noise Blanker! 73.s from the USA, Hilary W4HDL

Hi. I recently purchased a used FT 2000D, which the previous owner has made this mod, so I got a cable coming out of the back of the 2000, with an SMA connector at the end. I already have the RSP Duo, but I do not have a clue how the two units will work together. The IF from the 2000 travels through this cable to the one input of the RSP Duo, which is connected with the USB cable to my laptop. So far so good. What frequency shall I use on the RSP? The same as the 2000? Will this frequncy change as I change the frequency on the rig? For the moment I do not have the connecting cable from the Yaesu to the laptop. Any advice and explanation would be more than welcome. Thank you in advance for your time and answer, 73 de SV1SLB

Hey There Lovely conversion. I looked around and found 1 other tut but it involved cutting into the original wiring and this was a perfect solution. easy fitment of the socket and clean interface with the speaker. I will never understand why people mod radios or any electronics and just hack and butcher wires and switches into place. if it made it look better externally or if it made the radio more functional i can understand that. personally your method for this is 100 percent the cleanest and best way. Cheers Dave Sydney Australia
