I read Tarkovsky go on beautifully about Mise en Scene and you relate a chessboard to life and honestly outdid so much of his writing - what a seriously good thing to keep in mind to be more honest with oneself, and know ourselves better insofar as to how we reflect truths about ourselves back at ourselves through mundane behaviours - to be more conscious about the environment we prefer and create, such thing’s as why we do or do not do this or that - so on... idk, I’m going to really keep this in mind**yeah, subbed🤟🏻🤟🏻
Top comment of all time <3 I am definitely not worthy of 'outdoing' tarkovsky, (but it's a dream I'll aim for haha). I definitely want to make more psychology-based videos. Time's been stolen hugely the last year or so but fingers crossed I can make some more like these before too long! Thanks for watching :)
awesome!! pls let me know the lenses used in this video??
Thanks!! Lenses were: a sigma 24mm 1.4, 35mm 1,4, and a contax zeiss 50mm may have also made an appearance. I don't remember using a 100mm macro as most of the shots are gimbal shots, but I do often go to that lens in nature shoots. I believe there are two probe lens shots too, being the mushroom bark area
@@aramatkinson super, thanks for the info☺
@@symons4242 Any time!
This is truly phenomenal. I just ordered the cart and am getting started shortly.
Good luck!!!!
Hi Aram ... I had talked to you a few days ago and that I had submitted 3 query letters for 3 separate shows. 2 are for HGTV and 1 for another concept. The Q. How long does one wait or should wait for a response? Can I send a follow up letter asking ... Hey hello ... I was just making sure that you received my query letter or something as simple as that. Unless you have a suggestion or an opinion on this? Thank you ahead of time! Sincerely, Rick
Hi Richard, It depends a little. If you sent a cold query, absolutely chase up. They will be receiving quite a few cold enquiries so you'll want to try and stick in their mind (just making sure you aren't sending 'unsolicited material', i.e. your first email if it's cold should be asking permission to send them a pitch deck, rather than sending them the pitch deck). If, however, they already had asked for it and you were sending them the proposal, then I would wait a few weeks. Execs usually have a lot of shows and responsibilities going on simultaneously and will look at your proposal when they get a chance, but pressuring them will probably just annoy them. I've had an exec take a month or longer sometimes to get back to me, and they're always apologetic/grateful for the patience and come back having read the proposal.
@@aramatkinson Thank you Aram, I really do appreciate your assistance . Also no word yet about the children's feature that was sent to Nigel. Time and patients right. Lol Thanks again, Rick
@@richardfortin2232 Time, patience, and a whole stadium full of resilience against the many no's for the few yes's lol.
I used to be a part of a think tank for the Toy & Game Industry a lifetime ago ... so I am fully versed on the no aspect of things. It is sad though because there are many good things that will never see the light of day. I wish we had a genius to see the rights from the wrongs. Lol
Mr harry potter??
I wish I could talk to you because I might be going in more blind than I thought. I am a Cnd and going to MEMinc. To sitch I know Scott but very indirectly so wish me luck. Most of it does deal with HGTV
Good luck! Can't say I have much experience with unscripted TV, but I imagine much of the pitching aspects would be the same, focused more on 'access' to the people/world/locations etc. Hope it goes well!
Actually listening to you has helped and I narrowed down the query letter for my particular tv situation. I have one down and 2 more to go. Oddly enough I wrote a children's animation feature and Nigel Lythgoe is about to receive it because a friend pulled a favor. These are interesting times. Again wish me luck. Lol
Doesn't sound like you need luck! Fingers crossed all you will need is a congratulations! Exciting times indeed :D
Beautiful! You have the gift of empathy and an attendant respect for the audience and it shows!!!
Thank you! Very kind of you to say :)
This template would be perfect for the production company I work for. I saw you're about to release a new version of this. When will the new template be available for purchase?
Hey Bruna, So you can pick it up for a discounted price right now from our crowdfunder as it's one of our rewards. I wll create a clearer walkthrough video of it in the future than the one that comes with it right now, but if you're comfortable with notion you'll quickly find your way around! www.indiegogo.com/projects/green-grass
I keep seeing these scaffolding platforms as the framework for DIY carts but it costs a stupid amount of money to ship them to Australia! Unless I'm really bad at google, these don't exist in Australia at all!
It wasn't super easy in the UK either, had to do a lot of digging to find one, think it's mostly an American stocked scaffolding platform. I think now there are some good cheap alternatives rather than buiding your own, when I was building it the options were all twice as expensive as doing this, but I believe some have got cheaper now (at least over here!)
Very inspiring Aram, I downloaded and watched it all during a flight! Thanks for sharing this with the world and congratulations on securing full funding for Green Grass! 🙏
I hope it was followed up by a more action-packed film! Can you share where you were flying to???
@@aramatkinson haha somewhere in Eastern Europe but I found this as a great way to catch up with videos! 😀
Great watch, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jay! I look forward to watching you do your talk at kingston 10 years from now!
Haha I remember that skill share job!
Skillshare's the best <3
Looking forward to the series :)
Hey James, it's a one-off video tutorial that's available as part of our crowdfunder (links in description if you're interested!)
You started off well, but having a channel with a high SEO score can really help boost your subscribers and views. Can I send you an SEO audit report that will help you?
Hey Radi, I appreciate the outreach, but I'm ok thank you. Have a good one though!
This is brilliant, Aram! I'm blown away by your creativity in sharing your story and through the crowdfunding video. I wish you all the best with the film!
Thanks Elliot!!! I've been of KZread a while but I've seen you've been putting some things out, I'll do a good old binge when I get a moment!
I'm impressed that you did the edit and sound design yourself, fairly compelx for a one man post-production process. This looks like a premiere pro edit by the fonts which surprises me a bit since i think that program is torture to use. Good work on keeping the tension high and incredible acting. I would love to see this turned into a show. Also the shots are beautiful and well planned, shoutout to your storyboard artist and AD for that. Overall a very impressive production I'd say, you gave a bunch of people something great to add to their portfolio's!
Thanks for the kind words! Edited in resolve actually (I agree about premiere being...challenging). No storyboard artist, just some very badly drawn boards by me and the DP haha. I long for the day I don't edit/sound design. What a joy that'll be to have someone else do it, always loved it whenever I've managed to bring an editor or sound designer on but sadly didn't have the time or money to on this one. Thanks for watching it and leaving your input :)
P.s. incredible work by Oli, agreed! And my producer did a great job doubling up as an AD. Big love for her work
@@aramatkinson Resolve supremacy woohoo!
@@thatoneguyatschool8453 😂Long may it reign!!
Congratulations! Pretty cool!
Thanks! Still a long way to go though 🤞🤞
Congratulations Aram! You are so talented! Well done!
Thanks Ana! (i am going to take the compliment this time unlike usually haha). Lots of hard work going into this project so glad it's paying off! Hope you are well.
Great stuff. I've been struggling with a rock-n-roller cart for the past year and it's just too small and too wobbly. Planning on building one of these before my next shoot. FWIW, using a chemical de-glosser will save a ton of time and make your paint adhere better. Rave on!
A chemical de-glosser, that sounds like something far better than what I used. Out of everything I would change about the cart, it is the paint and also the stick on foam for the front-facing side of the top shelf, good to know I can fix one of these problems!
@@aramatkinson I'm thinking about water pipe insulation to wrap the frame too - at least on the verticals. I tend to bump into things on set. We'll see.
"I tend to bump into things on set'' sounds like there are some stories there I'd enjoy to hear haha. Pipe insulation sounds like a good idea. Bubble wrap probably best avoided unless you have a vendetta against the soundie.
This is beyond amazing Aram.
I can assume you are mostly referring to Kelsey's incredible camera operating for the opening shot ❤️
Great work Aram! Donating now! 😊
Thanks Andi!!!
Thank you very helpful video. I'm actually preparing an idea currently to pitch at the Screen Forever conference in Australia. At what script draft stage is it good enough to pitch?
Depends on the place you are pitching. Some want a full script but usually it's enough to have an outline, but always worth checking! Even if a script gets greenlit they will be wanting to work with you to develop it further so it's never a 'final' draft if you know what I mean!
Thanks for making this, still an issue 2 years on 😢. I was just honestly shocked the other day when I thought," maybe a production cart could fit in the budget", only then to be immediately traumatized by all the price tags. I saw DSLR video shooters attempt, and if I'm honest it look kind of flimsy. I don't know if I can find scaffolding like this, but I'm sure it's weight rated way above some of the other options.
It's the nature of filmmaking I guess! "What's that, a spanner? £20. Oh wait ...a FILM spanner? *£2000"
Wonderful, I have been trying to get my head around how to build something like this in Notion and you have already done it! well done the system looks great and I will buy it from you and spruce it to others.
Thanks!! I'll be releasing a new version on the 4th but anyone whose bought the old version will get the new one free as well 🙂
Is the template costomizable? I really like the way you have it, but there is a few things I would like to do to make it better for my production. I really love the style tho. You absolutely killed it!
Hey Jaden, It absolutely is, however, I am launching a new version on the 4th! So if you hold off, you'll see a much improved version :) (ofc I'll leave the older version available if preferred).
Man, you're so underrated! your videos should have more reach
Thanks Ahsan! I've admittedly been inactive for a while but planning to change that soon once life calms down a bit next month!
So genuine and touching thoughts..... kudos for the insights
Thanks Ahsan! (Sorry it's taken me a while to see this!)
Clever!
Please, sell me one! Thank You!!😅😅😅
Hi! Awesome insights! Thank you very much! Still happy with it? Did you change something? Can't find your specific cart but there is a very similar available on Ebay Germany over here. What specific wheels did you purchase? The link in your description is not working anymore. Keep up the good work and thank you again! Cheers from Berlin
Amazing build, thanks for sharing!
Your missing a V12 engine for your cart.
next version, I'll add it to the list
Amazing footage!! This is the kind of video I love to shoot! what lenses did you just? do you use prime, cinema, or zoom lenses? thank you!
Thanks! I used...a sigma 24mm 1.4, 35mm 1,4, and a contax zeiss 50mm may have also made an appearance. I don't remember using a 100mm macro as most of the shots are gimbal shots, but I do often go to that lens in nature shoots
@@aramatkinson Thanks for answering me, I just bought a camera and I didn't know what lens should I buy, but I do know🙏
This class is awesome! Thank you for helping me make the switch
Thanks Derek!!! Glad it has helped :D
@@aramatkinson as someone who’s been using Premiere Rush and Pro since forever, I was kind of tired of paying and found your tutorial on Davinci on Skillshare and really liked it!
This is an underrated post
nope.
Would love an update on this cart! If there’s any modifications or structural integrity issues. I’m most curious in the stability of the wheels. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Hey David. I've had no issues. Admittely, I mostly just use it in a studio like environment now, I haven't taken it out anywhere for a long time, but that's more down to a career move I've made. But it's held up fine. I do think Adicam's cart is has less sway in it and is a bit more easy to transport though.
1 year later this video is perfect timing for my needs. Thank you
Really good video matey!
Great shots!
Thanks!
It just means you wrote the woke- est story , not necessarily the best story.
this is insane wtf, please keep going, motivation for all of us watching
Definitely still going! Can't slow down in this industry, hopefully one day this full script will get a commission! Cheers for watching
Oh lush.... This takes me back 😀

It really can! Such a strange phenomenon
Congratulations! That's amazing and inspiring
Thanks Ali! Hope you've got some writing of your own to get going :)
I am a beginner , didn't even use premiere pro Can I hop in ?
You can certainly try, although some of the things I talk about are quite advanced. But you can definitely try :) I'm planning on doing a complete editing beginner course in the near future though so that might be more useful! :)
Seem really hard to push and then look at it tilt???
Great stuff! subscribed!
Cheers Fred! Keen to check out some of your stuff too :)
I've just stumbled across this idea and my mind is racing. I don't suppose you still have this setup? I'm trying make an art-department/props+armourer standby cart and need to work out the clearance between the vertical posts to see if I could still access my milwaukee drawers.
I do still have it yes! :) That sounds like a great reason to have one. Useful having a rolling step ladder height access as props department! Tell me exactly what dimensions you need (if its lengthways or depth ways, from inside of post or outside) and I'll measure it on the weekend when its back in my hands.
@@aramatkinson Amazing! Thank you!! Ideally the interior distance between the vertical poles, width-wise. so opposite to the hinge-wall. I have a sneaking suspicion that although access to the drawers might not be impeded, actually getting them into the frame could be tricky. Shame no company seems to sell them off the shelf for me to investigate. Also, the wheels on that website are bolt fittings, are the ones you used tube + pin?
Video quality is elite, thought you had like 100k subs before I actually looked off the video to see. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man!!!! Ha, I wish it was 100k, that'd be nice. I'll take 855 for now though :) It's 855 more than I had when I started!
