Are they considered a horde army? Looking for a medium to somewhat low model count. I'm wondering Sylvaneth, Soulblight, Slaves to Darkness or Seraphon. ALso interested in Ruination Chamber? Am I correct that a lot of cursed city models are useable in Soulblight?
Liking everything, with two exceptions. I wish bloodreavers still had murder rolls, and I wish bloodwarriors had....something else. Maybe an extra rend or something.
IMO, Nurgle looks amazing with some super fluffy stuff thats equally ridiculously strong & I'd absolutely love the faction Except, (almost) army wide 4" makes actually building a cool list out of them borderline impossible, very few list archetypes are viable because you're forced to find ways to circumvent the fact that 90% of the book can't play the game till turn 3
Massively disappointed in the changes, there's barely any healing in the army (doesn't make much sense, many armies have much better unit/model return as well as other tools over us), points are super high, and worse of all the mechanic is pretty boring in the sense that it doesn't change gameplay much, it's just a restriction. I hope people getting into the army really like Nagash or running lists with 20-30 Kavalos.
In the current 4th edition, you wouldn't want to use katkros's warscroll command on mortek guard, unless you are planning on redeploying/ counter charging them in the opponent's turn. They'll ignore all modifiers to save rolls if they don't move in the opponent's turn because of shield wall. Is it worth giving up being ethereal for a +1 to save, when you could use the command on a gothizzar harvester instead?
Slight correction I believe. The -1 to hit is army wide, but the 5+ crit is just for 1 unit
Yeah that is indeed how it works, I wrote it correctly in the text but just had a listen through again and I wasn't clear in explaining it! :)
@@TheSixMachine yup exactly, great review though! I’m gonna try a vanari heavy dawnriders list soon
My custom kitbash Primaris Lemartes is 100times better than GW’s one…
What happened to Garreks reavers? Magores Fiends? Korgus Kuhl? Valkia the Bloody? Where did all the abilities and weapon profiles go? Damn a lot changed since when i last played in 2nd edition.
Bruh I really don’t get your logic AT ALL, and neither does any other KZread review of the Courts tbh. Goremane and the Herald are AMAZING. They’re dirt cheap, cast on a 3+, and can’t be countered/dispelled. Even Priests only chant on a 5+. Not to mention there is NO RANGE requirements on ANY of their abilities. WTH is wrong with you?? Listening to you dump on them is just abysmally painful and I knew then and there you have NO idea wtf you’re doing with this faction.
I dunno, they are cheap for sure and maybe I was a little harsh. They're certainly not unusable, I just really don't like the fact that rolling a 1-2 on them makes them basically worthless for a turn, sure the priests still need that 5+ but as it builds you can a bit more reliably get to that 5 or 10 value even if it takes a bit longer, and things like the Cardinal get to have that option for prayers to chant in addition to the NDP generation from rousing oration in both Hero phases. I just personally would rather go for them over the Herald, I could see Gormayne being good as a caddy for sitting on the terrain and just throwing out his judgements boardwide from there and he could definitely be a solid pick if you had that in mind for him. The Marrowscroll, I do like his Fight First I just feel like he's quite easy to counter-play if your Opponent knows what he can do, especially if he's sat next to Ushoran or some Knights. I suppose giving him the Charnel Vestments to make him a Priest does add some more value to him too!
so i’m not sure if it’ll be any good but i really try to paint few models to a high level for any army i play- so my current FEC (aside from the painted up spearhead) is Ushuron, 12 morbheg knights, an abhorrent (trying to decide between the gore warden and the archregent), two varghulf cortiers, and a terrorgheist. So far i’ve only played spearhead. I’ve painted up 4 full AoS armies since fall 2023 and still haven’t played a full game lol
For gormayne I am just looking at like a 3rd Ed prayer
Thanks for this, I'm just now getting into FEC, and this is extremely helpful.
How will you be playing your Flesh-Eater Courts in 4th? Will you be going Cav/Knight heavy or will you drown your opponent in serfs?!
I have to admit while I love the character models the upgrades for Death Company feel a bit lazy. That said I also have a ton of firstborn Death Company stuff in my bits box plus a brand new unopened box of them, and some built ones I got as part of a massive job-lot. So I'm probably just gonna get this box for the base minis then cannibalise all the better firstborn pads and guns and stuff and kitbash em onto my new Primaris guys. Might also see if I can use the spare DC dreadnought bits from my Librarian dread kit and somehow splice them onto the new Brutalis version to give it a bit more personality.
Yea me too
Cool stuff, but it will be impossible to get in my part of the world. Very nice stuff though.
Im looking forward to this box. Love Lemartez and Astorath. I really hope the Death Company Intercessors get a buff.
i hate it . boring and bland . its the same boring primaris design . the upgrade sprue is trash boring uninspired . the dreadought is the same boring primaris dreadnought but with an X . the old kit and old upgrade sprue is lightyears better than this.. the only good thing is Astorath the rest is trash . i dont know why would i buy this instead of the old kit and upgrades that was full with artistic ornate designs . i can kitbash better than theese . idk why would i buy primaris when they keep staying this boring . they had a chance to do something and they chooe to be boring . well... the more reason to buy firstborn kits .
stay mad
@@pooddly9637 people allowed to have opinions and preferences . whats the problem ?
This is probably a stop gap for later. 🤷♂️ I, too, enjoy kit bashing. 😇
but is it boring?
I mean...I'm mostly Dark Angels too but Lemartes and Astorath look so cool. Also shoutout to YT for putting this video in the recommendation section...for this video 😛
Being interested in starting a new wolf army I have found the video really helpful for what units to be looking at after I have built the combat patrol, thank you.
A couple of things you missed out on: champions in units get +1 attack so the Bladelords get 6 attacks, and Ellania and Ellathor's profile says you add the battle round number to the damage on Altairi, meaning in battle round 3 it's dealing 5 damage per wound!
Yes I always forget aboout the extra Champion Attacks! That's a great catch, and thank you I had completely misread that about Altairi, that really does make it scary indeed! They're still pricey but have a load of Rules going on, so I definitely think they're worth a spin to try out! Thanks! :)
Gothizzar Harvesters feel just... Massively overcosted? One got obliterated by a unit of 20 blissbarb archers.
I think the problem with them is that GW always struggles to point things that can return Models, because it can either make it's points back really quickly if you roll well or end up doing nothing and just being a complete waste!
@@TheSixMachine RAW, the Gothizzars also run into an issue where against big units, they don't even get the bone tithe points-- If you take away daemonettes from the back-- Outside of the Harvester's combat range. I think it should just collect from any unit it's in combat with.
Im enjoying these long-form review videos :)
Thank you I really appreciate that! They're so much fun to do, if a little draining having to write and edit them after work! xD
Are the Lumineth going to be as scary as they were in the early days of 3rd Edition? Or where do you think they'll slot in competitively as 4.0 gets underway?!
wait for oder fation ;]
Tha.k you for the review. I started BoK at the end of the 9th WH40k as I owned the Khorne's combat patrol but hadn't played a lot so I am not verry familiar with the rules. But what I see and I am asking if it is a way is a combo of Khorne Legion with 1 or 2 Blood master, 1 or 2 units of Bloodletters, and some units of Bloodbounds. If it work as I think it could make a chain of fight before your let you opponent even use a sword. What do you think ?
What I take from it is that Death Watch have had to be sacrificed to pad out this chimeric monstrosity. We will have to wait on the release to see how this thing is going to work fully. However currently it looks to have no real tanks and limited tough/heavy hitting units. Mainly just a mad pile of kill team boxes piled together. If that is the case... The Death Watch died for this? Almost feels like it was made to make other things e.g. Knights have an easier job of subbing in some units for easy objective control. Or Giving the guard terminators...
Thanks for your effort!!!! I just got into AoS two weeks ago and picked son's of behemat and trying to learn as much as i can. Little worried about the Manifestations, other armies can just cast every turn for free since i already have low modle count
No problem at all! I hope the video helps! I know precious little about the Sons to be honest but yeah manifestations are an issue all round at the moment, I fully expect them to be nerfed in the near future, so even if they cause you problems now hopefully it'll all balance out soon! :)
Coteaz looks like a lieutenant of a unit, not a main character.
Wow 2k pnts of kill team I’m sooooooo hyped
Some tech: Harold + BattleLeader with Black death yields 4+ dev wounds on vehicles and monsters with the teeth+claws.
Oooh yeah that's a good catch! I like that, they're just so flexible I love them! :)
I like how inquisitor models are going to be leaders in there own faction now.
Which Detachment do you think the TWC work best in, and which Characters do you tend to run alongside them?
great content
Thank you so much! :)
In what rules update did they change the Hive Tyrant's 0 CP stratagem to -1 CP? I cannot find it anywhere.
It's on the official website for rules changes :) any army which had a unit that allowed for a free strat is now -1 cp to strats. So 1cp strats are still free but it prevents players from abusing the rule and getting 2cp strats for free
Thanks! :)
Pretty much my exact sentiment. I actually work for GW and was very disappointed when I first saw it on the shelf. Less so now, but it does feel neutered compared to the previous one. They have however damaged the previous one via attachment rules for the Warboss... I do really like this set, as i love the Snaggas, so i will go for it, I'm just not in any hurry.
With rotigus it looks like its says to target both friends and enemies units not one or the other which is huge.
Yeah that's my reading of it too, so unless we're mistaken it's hugely powerful! Potentially armywide healing and enemy armywide damage is so good! And with his +1 to cast it's basically on a 7+ which isn't guaranteed but isn't an impossible spell to get off!
@@TheSixMachineIf you play this guy I think you want to build around using this ability so you’ll probably want to cast it during your opponent’s turn as well
Nurgle rot!, I mean rock!
I just want to say how much I appreciate this battle report. Easily digestible for a beginner. Personal preference, obviously, but I really appreciate the lack of cringe humor, funny voices, screaming, etc. It makes most channels unwatchable for me.
We're glad you liked it! We do try to put in a little humour as/when we can because we don't play games in a super serious way, but we like to keep the videos as... 'watchable' as possible without any over the top cringe! So thanks for the feedback, we'll keep them coming! :)
I'll add more deeper thoughts of certain units: GUO's spell may seem lackluster but the ability to cause Infect a enemy unit before the Nurggle army rule kicks in, means that the infected unit that's close to GUO can spread right away, increasing infected units and dealing MW earlier. Horticulous Slimex has the ability that can place 1 Tree ( maximum 3 ) per turn and can still continue to do so which makes him bring back Beasts and Trees infinitely, causing lots of roadblocks for enemies and more ways to infect/spread diseases.
No, you are wrong about horticulous. He can only put a tree down if there are less than three on the table. If a tree gets killed he can replace it, so over a full game he can put more than three down. I have seen other people say the same thing you said so people are repeating it without looking at the faction card. My printed card is the same as the online card.
@@walterdimmick653I’m pretty sure this is what he said. You can place 1 tree per turn up to a maximum of 3 in play.
Each beast can only be brought back once. Still good!
Not to mention with the new manifestation spell lore you can use the spellportal one to infect a backline unit too
I had same thoughts about GUO cast, but than o realize, that with good player it is not speeding up infection, it's only make him pay 1 cp on rally.
I'm a 40K player that just got into AOS and I really like the nighthawk but did they lose the ability too haunt terrain?
What do you make of the disgusting forces of Nurgle in AoS 4.0?!
Go, custodies box construction team. Got a love, GW, ability to throw bunch of crap in a box to make you buy it. This is their way of discount in anything that has to do with the death watch that’s filling up their shelves.
Old Coteaz is so much better. Why is the eagles wing glued on to a rock lol
They better make it stand on Coteaz shoulder
It's weird. Like, I'm not even going to say I think the new model is amazing, it just...it doesn't bother me? If that makes sense? Maybe I just don't feel all that much of a connection to the original lol
I never felt a huge connection to the original, I just can't look at the new one and not see like a toddler in his first big boy pants, it looks like a teletubby to me and I can't unsee it xD
@@TheSixMachine Like I said, I'm not saying I like the new model, I just more...shrug? I don't really have an opinion either way I guess lol
What do you think of this new Codex, and do you like the new Model for Coteaz, or is the old one better?!
I'm not sure how this is going to run as a standalone army. none of the "Agents" kill teams that are known to be in the codex seem viable for carrying the army in any capacity, Transports and light infantry with no Anti-tank is a recipe for disaster. At least based on rumors the primaris kill teams from the Deathwatch won't be included.. Which would leave only the Deathwatch Veterans for carrying and they are not exactly capable of that.. too squishy and not quite a serious enough Anti tank threat unless their thunderhammers get within melee range.. which leaves the Corvus Blackstar doubling as transport for veterans and anti tank but not a serious enough threat to carry anti tank either. Which only leaves Allying in Imperial knights If they are planning to give access to say imperial guard tanks and such to fill the mechanized role then you might as well play an imperial guard army instead, because as an imperial guard army you can still bring along upto 2x10 Deathwatch veterans along with a watch master and artimis to lead the veterans and if they give the blackstar dedicated transport you can fly them in to bulk up your infantry, 10 battle sisters with 2x immolators to transport them, or a huge 10 man brick of grey knight terminator instead of the sisters to deep strike a menace. Why would you need or want to play agents when you can bring 1400 points of Retinue/Requisition units IN ANY imperial army.. Plus you could drop in an imperial knight and just about hit 1900 points or 2000 points.. its ridiculous. im not saying someone should do that but it feels so weird that you could play battlesisters, but then include everything but battle sisters and make a full 2000 point army from outside units. Not to mention potentially killing off deathwatch for this mess is a disaster for deathwatch players that wanted their own codex Also the new model seems easy to kit bash and fix, looks like it should be easy to move the hammer to his right arm so it has a similar pose as the old model, and then with his left hand reaching out like that you could put in a large enough Deamon head that hes just ripped off a Daemon body. Move the Eagle and position it on his back so its like the eagle is leaning forward getting ready to take off with its wings out, and then for the eagle base remove the flight stand you could do what ever you want with it, it could be the corpse of the deamon missing its head, or just leave it the pillar or scrap and have the model follow him around or be more creative with it or heck give the bird an inceptor flight stand really anything.
