Working to blur the line between livin’ and livelihood. I’m way too comfortable turning a coffee shop into my personal office, and it’s not unlike me to get a wild hair and drive across the country. Whether camping, backpacking, fly fishing, or surfing - I’m here for the simple pleasures and cheap thrills.
Here, I’ll be documenting an experiment in owning less and living more. This channel covers various topics related to full-time vehicle dwelling in a Toyota Tacoma with an OVRLND Camper. You'll find a series of How-To’s, Tips, Gear Reviews, Q&A’s, and Trip Videos.

Great videos! New subscriber :) definitely looking forward to your 'what I (perhaps) would have done differently' video now 3 months in
Thanks Patrick! I should have that one out next week 🙌
Muy bonita, ligera y funcional, excelente trabajo
Thank you!
Wasn’t sure where you were going with the Rose, Bud, Thorn thing at first… but kinda dig it now! How far off are you from monetization? I assume you’re just waiting on the watch hour metric at this point?
Haha oh man RBT is a classic. I can’t take credit for that one. But yeah exactly. Watch hours are about 500 shy. A small pitfall of keeping my videos shorter. So close though. I’m stoked
@@HeyJonMoore that's huge progress for a young channel, congrats! Have you considered experimenting with a longer form video to see how that impacts watch hours?
@@Western-Wild thanks man! Im definitely considering it but I don’t want it to be fluff. Im going to try to make some longer ones, hopefully packed with value
Mine was build #502. Love my camper. I did industrial 1/4 in cork wall. After almost 1.5 yrs, no mold.
Nice dude! Thats OG. Stoked to hear you still love it after all this time 🤙
How is it for noise? Does it stay in your rig when you sleep?
Good question. It does stay in the rig full time - the sound doesn’t bother me whatsoever. Seems like it only kicks on once or twice a night. (Maybe more haha but it doesn’t wake me up so I couldn’t say)
@@HeyJonMoore Good to know. I've been using a Yeti with the freezer packs for a while now (but I only do weekender or longer trips, not full time).
Great video What are you doing for power management
@@smorrow0816 thank you! I actually have a video about it. You can check it out here: An Easy Off-Grid Electrical Solution kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6KbqauGkbinhdo.html
Been enjoying your channel a lot!
Thank you! I really appreciate that
Great channel music content keep busy and keep us up to date
Thanks Kellie! And will do 👍
You be basic man. Spice it up.
Haha fair feedback. I do keep it pretty simple
Love the music and content your a keeper John. I’m a full timer. Beauty balances
I appreciate that!
Just bought one for a transport to my rv from grocery store. Super back up 12 volt fridge gives me headaches. Glad I found your channel
Awesome and thank you!
It's great to see things working out for you! Hope that continues. Love the 70's style music you had playing!
Thank you!
Nice update. You’ll love Billy Strings. I saw him a few weeks ago opening for Zach Bryan and he was awesome!
Oh man! Can't wait
I admire and respect you. I would have packed it in at the first bug swarm. 😅 Keep up the great videos!
Haha they're not as bad as you think. Thank you though!
B-12 pills keeps the mosquitos away
Nice. I'll have to try that
Great insights! If you're ever in Oregon and want to get into some fly fishing or backpacking, hit me up!
Absolutely dude 🤙 will do
That '70s music for the intro had me looking around wondering if I'd been transported back to my youth :-) It sounds like you're in a unique position to have friends in the area that allow you to be available to a beautiful location such as the Sierras. If all my friends were in Kansas I'm not so sure I'd be digging it quite as much which makes me think that it's something people need to consider if you're going to rely on friends. Looking forward to the next videos on what you would do differently. Thanks for taking time out to share this with us.
Haha yeah that song was a great find! Man, I am super lucky to have friends who live in beautiful places and even luckier to have to freedom to explore them myself. I never want to take that for granted. That said, maybe even Kansas has some hidden gems haha the people definitely help make the place. Thank you for the comment!
What a nice change of pace from work life. I’m sure your channel will take off soon, it’s such a pleasure to watch. It gives many folks the opportunity to “camp and enjoy the outdoors” who can’t physically do those kinds of activities. I love hiking and backpacking and look forward to more of those vids coming up soon. Keep up the good work, and for sharing your personal experiences.😊
Thank you Susan! That encouragement means a ton. :)
@@HeyJonMooreone thing I notice with solo camping KZreadrs is they get a little lonely. I encourage you to meet up with friends, family, and acquaintances as often as possible to keep a balance. ❤
@@susans8539 Absolutely. If anything I feel like I've been seeing my friends more often. Haha still waiting to find those other wandering gypsys though
Love to see you thriving out there! Been wanting to head to the Sierras as well with my ovrlnd camper. I know the bears around Tahoe are pretty bold curious if you've had to adjust your camp style to address that risk or if it's been a non issue. Thanks for sharing your world on the road. Super inspiring !
Thank you man 🙏 And yeah I would highly recommend exploring that area. You know, I saw all of the signage and even saw a mom and cubs at one point. My only adjustments were making sure that I kept food tidy and put away, and I kept some bear spray in the camper. Never had a real issue though.
Bugs and heat are my own personal nemeses so I feel your pain on those thorns. As an almost 69 year old, 19 year RVr downsizing and a resident/lover of NW US/NW Montana ... hope you get to Flathead Lake which is in my back yard. Northern Rockies and the Flathead are different than the Sierras/Lake Tahoe ... both have their own beauty and plus/minuses :) . Cheers and looking forward to future videos.
Wow! 19 years! Way to go! Flathead Lake is officially on the destination list. Thank you for the recommendation and comment. :)
@@HeyJonMoore To be clear, not 19 years full time ... 19 years RVing. I've done trips from overnight to 7 months and all in between over those 19 years. Also to be clear ... I am NOT a camper/back packer .. I am an "all mod cons" kind of RV traveler but I appreciate all forms of RV travel!
Nice update Jon. Excited for your video breaking down your lived in experience of how the camper set up is working out
Thanks brotha! Should be coming out in a week or two
Looks delicious. I think I would at more seasonings to the beef as it cooks to add more flavor, but all in all, it looked quite tasty. The chuck box is very functional and seems to hold quite a bit. Is that your design? Maybe you should patent it and sell them for additional income. 😊
Yeah, more seasoning is fair feedback. It is my design but I don't think I could charge enough to make them. It took me way too long - hourly rate would be pennies haha. Thanks for the comment!
One chuck box stew for me, please!
Coming right up! You gotta finish your mountain bike race first though! haha
I'm digging the chuck box. The stew looks good too.
Thank you!
You’re making me hungry
haha Good! It's working
Hi
👋
Couldn't you find the right lengths of the various cordage that makes it level and just lock it in somehow? This would give you much better load capacity and repeatability.
Maybe, I'm not exactly sure what you mean but sounds like you might have an idea for an improved design. 👍
I'm a trucker and have been thinking of starting a channel about cooking good healthy food on the road. My first thought went to cowboys and how they cooked on the trail. This might be exactly what I need to make. Brilliant idea
That sounds like an awesome idea! Would love to see something like that. Good luck on your box build
Super functional! Awesome.
Thanks brotha! Appreciate you 🤙
Great chuck box, and video too. I can't find the cut list...can you provide pelase?
disregard...found it
Cool! And thank you 🤙
Looks awesome
Thanks dude!
Been watching on repeat the part of the other video where you feature the simple table. Picked up those exact biners last night. Lit-rah-lee just walked in from taking some measurements in my truck and this video drops. Thanks for the inspo!
Haha hell yeah! Starting to read minds over here 🙌 Good luck on your build. Holler if you have any questions :)
Multi functional. Perfect. Good details on how to upscale if needed. TY! Happy 4th.
Thanks dude! Happy 4th to you too! 🤙
Awesome video buddy, the fly fishing intro was perfect
Hell yeah! Thank you!
Crushed this one. Love the personality shining through! More please
Ayy thanks dude. Appreciate you 🤙
Great life! I’ve done it 5 summers in a row! Can’t stop, Won’t stop! 💪 Keep at it!
Right on! Thanks dude
Cheers to getting out there.
Amen 🙌
What a rad box my dude!
Thanks brotha
My buddy has the same unit. I have a dometic 65 (dual zone). It’s almost too much fridge but, if I were to recommend anyone, these units are the bees knees and I’d buy one if I didn’t get a smoking deal on my Dometic
Ohh another note. They’ve got a voltage draw meter on it which I absolutely love. My dometic will shut itself off at low voltage safety but would be nice to know what my battery sits at on the fly
Right on! Stoked to hear that dude. Appreciate the comment
I enjoyed the vid man, great work, truck looks awesome
Awesome thank you dude!
Might have convinced me to go the fridge route
Dude.. it’s made a huge difference. It’s been a few weeks now and I can say I’d never go back to the cooler for anything other than a weekend trip or packin cold beers
Great video Jon!
Ayy thanks Birddog! 🤙
Another great one man. I dig your approach here. Get the nicest one you can afford, couldn’t agree more. Cheers!
Ayy thanks brotha! Oh and congrats on your film showing. That looked rad
@@HeyJonMoore thanks man! It was pretty cool.
I used the same fridge in my bus for almost 3 years. It's now my beer fridge. I ended up putting in an inverter and put the original beer fridge in the bus (dorm fridge style). The Euhomy is awesome.
Nice! Man sound like everyone has had great experiences with this thing
@@HeyJonMoore yeah its a solid buy at that price for sure.
Been using the exact same fridge for about a year and half now. Runs like a champ.
Hell yeah. That’s what’s up
ive been using the amazon special for 2 years, works great. minimal power draw and hasnt let me down yet. yeeeewwww
Yee yeeee! Man stoked to hear that
Great timing, I'm looking for a cooler/fridge. Good run-down on what you get for different price points. I've been traveling in various ways for a while now and always have Adam's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter with me in the largest Costco tub size. I've never refrigerated it, and my containers don't have a refrigeration label that I can find. My point, you might be able to replace that space with something else if there's something else you want to bring along. Looking forward to your next video.
Awesome! Yeah, I just keep it in the fridge so the oil doesn’t separate and require as much stirring. For now I have room to spare in there but I would definitely take that out if needed. 🤙 thanks for the comment!
Where do you keep your dish cleaning supplies
I keep that stuff in the cab of my truck. Just a scrub brush and biodegradable soap
Nice Box! I'm working on mine now and came across your video. Can't wait to use mine, these are such a great simple idea!
Thanks! Yeah, they’re a game changer
Good video, Love the idea of the chuck box. Good luck with your channel
Thank you!
Love that i came across your channel. Continue doing your thing and enjoying the moments of life. Cheers friend!
Thank you! I’ll keep on keepin’ on!
