Once we decenter men and recognize that our ability to now access education and earn our own income gives us more power to dismantle colorism within our “race group” interactions. We can choose who we celebrate AND who we engage with on an intimate level. I’ve noticed rich melanated women winning at love and life when their focus is not blk men.

They should not procreate with colorists males and not join in the degradation of wmn with richer skin tones. They need to be honest about the very FACT that rich melanated women are BEAUTIFUL.

That’s what I had to do……now I have a new set of fresh virgin starter locs. But I love blonde but if I color again, I will only highlight my hair and not bleach all over. My mistakes learned from my last set were: -Over bleaching and bleaching too soon -Not using a neutralizing shampoo!! -Running out of Olaplex No.3 and not able to get a licensed cosmetologist to repurchase it for me.

From what I understand stand and remember about coloring is that you would've needed to put bleach on your hair after it was dark to lift the darker color out again. But if I were you, I would stop doing all of that to your hair. You're going to damage your dreadlocks! I've had dreadlocks for over 30 years. What I do is I get loose hair the colors that I want it to be and wrap my dreadlocks, so I'm not damaging my dreadlocks with hair color. But I don't care about having dark roots. But if you decide to ever wrap your hair, make sure the hair is not too heavy. Because the weight can pull your dreadlocks out. I have lost a few because I waited too long to take it down and redo it. My fault. Like 10 years ago I colored them twice and wanted to do it again, but the cost for me to do it myself or to have someone else do it is what stopped me also. It would cost me between $600-$1000 to buy enough hair, color to color all of my hair. It cost me over $350 in early 2003. My hair is much longer than that now I even trim it every 2 to 3 months. I don't like to sit on my hair, and I also don't want it in the toilet. LOL You can find people on here show you how to do it. Some people use yarn also. If you ever see someone using glue on the ends, don't do that all you have to do is fold it over at the end and wrap it and roll it. It may come out done until I totally locks up on the ends for a few days, but you don't need to burn it or glue it. You can see my hair in my small profile photo a little. It's really easy and you can do it yourself. If you really want to know let me know. But bottom line is do whatever you want with your hair it's your hair!
