Which part of the Pismo was it? When I was camping at North Beach campground there last year and drove to the actual beach, they were charging $5/day to enter and making sure that everyone is out by the dark. Or perhaps it's a different part of the beach? Would be really helpful if someone posts google map GPS coordinates of where exactly the camping is allowed.

Be aware of several bad apple Calif State Park Rangers /Cops from Oceano to Hearst Castle ....I am all for law enforcement we need to keep the order but some take it to far and there are 2 I know of Officer " K " and " B. They are well known by those that work in the parks as they also have received tickets and threats of tickets from those 2 They will get you in their ticket book anyway they can it's money to them and power. All I did was drive into the campground looking for a spot to camp in the open 24 hours campground .Ranger B.E watched me drive in at 5:15 am pulled up behind me so I stopped he asked for my Drivers license and reg he ran those for 15 mins then came back and said he was going to write me a ticket for non payment of camping fees...$95 bucks...I received paperwork in the mail stating I could pay $233 and do a no show for court date which they set for 4 months off. They just hope you will be long gone and pay the big fine. They both need to be set down behind a desk with no ticket writing ability or I see a Harassment Lawsuit in their future and Calif will have to pay and that means the taxpayers...There is a shortage of Park Rangers is the only reason they still have jobs...
