Had one of these style MGW shifters on my former GT500. Literally the only thing that made that transmissions shift and not grind gears... most of the time. Looking for a Camaro, and if I go manual its getting a MGW shifter. No question about it.

Did this today and it took every minute of 5 hours. I'm not sure how they prepped the Mustang in the video, but they're swinging a ratchet in spaces I can barely fit my hand. It wasn't hard because the video prepares you pretty well, but doing it on jack stands without dropping the exhaust or driveshaft is a chore. I had to loosen the exhaust and hang my full weight on the transmission to get that bolt in the front of the bridge... and the one on the front of the linkage is no picnic either. Glad I did it, but damn... I'm gonna feel it tomorrow.

Thanks for the video. Followed exactly what the video showed, step by step and it was a super easy install. I have basic DIY mechanic skills. What made this install easy, was having the right tools, in this case, box wrenches and an extender for my ratchet. I walked in the installation with low confidence and came out like a pro, super fun install.

I haven’t done anything more than change my own serpentine belt on a beater. Having a newer mustang and seeing this video was very intimidating. I finally did it over the weekend and it was the install from hell. Most of it due to my own lack of experience. It’s 3 am rn and it’s finally installed, and IT FEELS SO GOOD. I can’t wait to actually bang some gears tmrrw. 2 days of my life, well worth it

I have a 2013 LS V6 an hate the shifting will this throw in gears better? And will it even work on my v6? 2nd an 3rd grind more than i would like an im shifting dam near perfect. I want a clean smooth shift an you guys were recommended to me.

grinding is internal and from bad syncros or poor clutch disengagement so a shifter might not solve these issues.

if you do not have a factory shifter you will need to either find a scrap yard and take off the oem shifter or reach out on the forums to see if someone that has auto swapped or magnum xl upgraded their trans has a factory shifter they no longer need.

yes same design as the 2011-2014 cars which I much prefer. Just push down over and forward. It also makes the shifter look more traditional instead of that goofy rental car push up collar under the knob.

The problem is that after you get one screw out, when you try to get the other screw out, the internal post spins.

I always like to turn the t-handle CLOCKWISE when pushing out sights so that would be left to right with muzzle facing away

Maybe it was just my 2010 SS manual and the Hurst billet shifter, but maybe that’s why the Hurst short shifter tends to feel so much more rough and vibrates and rattles as well. They give you a few small squares of sound deadening adhesive, but I have yet to try it out. Some people use it and some don’t. The rattling is starting to drive me nuts, but I might use foam in the interior, where it won’t melt like with the undercarriage. The 2-pc shifter assembly also rattles all the way up to the lock nut for the (resin?) ball shift knob. I was planning on swapping back to the stock shift knob, but that thing rotates so much, that it annoys me and would probably make me miss shifts with such a stiff shifter. There are also rubber pads to put in between the locking grooves, which is a TERRIBLE idea if you ask me; but if I ever did use red Loc-tite on the shifter handle bolts….

RUR is just the standard 1-6 gears with reverse in the upper right ...the FKIN fast has 6th gear replaced with F&ckin' fast !!! ( the actual word lol just edited for youtube )

Is the crossmember torque really 76ft-lbs for a 2019 bullitt? Feels like it’s going to strip even trying to hit 60ft-lbs.

11:57 DO NOT torque the transmission crossmember bolts to 76 lb ft. the correct spec from what we could find is 46 lb ft. If you try 76 lb ft, you will probably strip the holes right out of your chassis. ASK ME HOW I KNOW

no issues with tritium sights and it should be fine with the bullseye. worst case if their is a wide version that is wider than our standard block, you can purchase our 1 legged block

as long as the trans is not a 2018 plus GT trans the shifter should fit all mt82 transmissions.

I’m not gonna lie it took me 11 hours to install but not because of the shifter but because some nuts and bolts just got stuck and jack stands ect. I definitely recommend removing the exhaust for this install. I like the quality of the materials really premium i thought i was going to have to reuse a lot of stuck from oem but almost a full replacement which was cool. My shifter didn’t need to be adjusted which was cool

I've never missed 2nd and 4th gear now when racing the car I'm missing 2nd and 4th gear I'm not sure whats going on but not to happy is there a way to adjust it so 2nd and 4th isn't so far back? Ive had a mgw race spec in my 50 year edition gt and no issues but my shelby is a different story

@@MGWINC when a clutch needs to be done on a c5, does the lower box need to be removed? Or just the upper to get the torque tube out of the car? I’m due for a clutch soon and not sure if I want to install this right now.

the shifter will fit the mt82 trans and there are endless applications but its not specifically designed for ANY particular vehicle. You for sure would have to modify the console I would think .Thats why we have 2 length settings to offer more options.

will this fit on 66 mustang with coyote/MT82
the shifter will fit the mt82 trans and there are endless applications but its not specifically designed for ANY particular vehicle. You for sure would have to modify the console I would think .Thats why we have 2 length settings to offer more options.
