Did you have any problems at all with bolting the torque converter to the flywheel
First time working on a vehicle and I am trying to figure some things out and this video really helped me. I am rebuilding my dad's transmission so that I can have a form of transportation and I just want to say thank you for the assistance I tried just going by the book but this was way more helpful than it proved to be.
First of all, thank you for posting. The before and after sound comparison... You had the oil cap removed on the before footage and the oil cap on for the after footage. So right off the top of the bat, it's not a apples to apples comparison. An engine makes considerably more noise with the oil cap off. Number one. Number two, the proximity to the engine when take before and after sound samples is rather significant. The before sound clip is nuch closer to the engine, the after sound clip is further away. Somethings for you to think about if you decide to make a follow up video. Attention to these sort of details and specific data is important as there a lot of skeptical people out there when it comes to additives as a good majority of them don't live up to their claims.
I did a trans all by my self. I cut a piece of plywood the size of the bottom of the trans.Drilled a whole in the center of it. Remove the center bolt or screw from the floor jack. You will have to drill 4screw holes in it. to fit it on the Bottom of the plywood.then screw the plywood on to the jack.now put the jack under the trans. Before removing the trans brace with a ratchet strap.transmission will go no wear.
Also in the future get you a setof Flex head wrenches. For the starter removal use a 1/4 inch Ratchet or A flex head wrench.
Next time disconnect all cables from the side of the transmission it makes removal of any bracket much easier. Trust me.
The audio engineer needs to be fired
Two nuts!!
Nice rachet!
There's a spring that's supposed to go on the outside of the transmission of a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 40 four-wheel drive play videos of 42re transmission but I'm not sure exactly where that spring goes do you know?
Where did you purchase the rebuild kit?
I'm having a hard time putting the overdrive back into the transmission it won't go all the way in. There is about a 1 in gap that still need to go in and I'm banging it with a hammer but no luck I think it's getting cought on a bearing but not sure. Please help
My torque converter is only lining up with 3 of the 4 bolts the 4th bolt has an X above the hole where it won't go in??? Please enlighten me
good work bud 👍 followback.
I can't imagine having jeeps like this with no rust. I live in northeast and I look at my jeeps and they rust more haha.
Im about to do these myself. Thanks
Need a link for the other two videos
Thank you for this video, helped me a lot to fix my spark!
This is an interesting and well recorded install guide. I have just completed much of the refit as to a jeep xj and I have some final assembly as to lines and wiring. Thank you for the video process as I can have a look at best methods as assembly.. I have found this transmission to be sturdy and trouble free for daily use in my Jeep. McGary
I always just chuck my torque converter on . Never had a problem
Your jeep is so rust free, its amazing. Good video thanks Haas.
This is immensely helpful! I just picked up a '98 with a trashed trans. Have an ax15 waiting to go in, but gotta get this old girl out... Showing the full length with all the small struggles with fittings, etc is an amazing help to someone thats never done this before.
Thank you, this video helped my fix my sons truck. We just built a 408 Stroker in a 95 dodge ram and now this thing hauls ass.
The Wrench Socket sizes were a Super Plus, Thanks for making this Video
Iv watched a lot of videos but couldn’t find this particular video How to set fuel sink on a dodge 5.3-5.7 Never a how to Thank you sir This was great an simple Thank you Now I can finish setting up my 2001 318 I got it close but not for sure the cookie ( me ) comment about idle control solenoid The throttle body sucks a lot of air ,,, keep ur finger out of the vacuum hole That’s how I messed mine up Couldn’t get it to idle take pressure off gas pedal Go dead every time Breaking, steering gone Even just letting up to slow down I didn’t know it’s adjustable an had to b adjusted to suit the engine an vacuum Just throwing this n People
Yes a fancy wrench Mine is home made Most all my specialty tools are home built
Those under dash distributor is a real pain to get to
If u have to replace air idle solenoid They aren’t set they screw in an out I found that 7/8 inch from base to end of The head works fine Could be another 1/8 less Or 5/8 from base Note. U might want to put Teflon on the threads, no lock tire It has a spring in it But sometimes it will back out closing off vacuum
A 3/8 inch gas line about 4” long works really great installing plugs
A hand held starter jumper switch wire works wonders
Nice work
Yep very informative thanks.
Just got it out and on the ground thanks 100% to you. Any tips on getting the transfer case separated from the transmission? All 6bokts out but it's not budging one bit
These videos are very well done, showing and explaining all details I am getting ready to pull the 42re from my 95 today and feel a lot more prepared now than I did. Thanks for putting these out
Sounds like hype to me … ! …
wow your zj has like no rust... amazing. great video. i use break clean and spray that return connector it gets all the junk holding the clips from releasing.
good video... but the sound keeps bouncing. Thx for sharing
Yeah I hear you. I had some issues with the microphone. I did allot of work to even it out volume wise, but when you upload it it runs it through another compressor and the difference in amplitude is amplified. I may re-record the sound, I haven't decided yet. Thanks for the helpful comment though.
great video!!nice ZJ, im rebuilding a np242 for my 98 5.2!!
