Hi Tiwana 👋Very grateful for you to explain it all. I was under the impression that Day Player was on the same lvl as Extra's, meaning you're not allowed to put it on your resume, is this true? Than a question out of curiosity, are you allowed to put music video's under TV ? or is that not done either and better under "new media" (as in KZread and web series) ? Thank you for any reaction in advance :)

Glad it was helpful! I pulled this from Backstage "A Day Player is an actor hired on a daily basis and not on a long-term contract. Day players usually live up to their moniker and are usually only on set for a day or two. They only have a few lines, which places them in the space between background actors and the main cast." It's my understanding thyme term was most widely used in Soap Operas. I believe they call it co-star or guest star now. Music video would be its own category, but most theatrical casting directors are perusing actor resumes for training, theater, film and TV roles. However if it were a widely prominent music video and role you can add the credit under its own category on your resume. But from my understanding casting directors want to know or see in your reel you acting scripted lines.

Agreed 100% Acting is all about human emotional expression and no computer software program will ever replace it. We all need to “just calm down” on this topic. If studios want to try I say let them, THEY WILL FAIL MISERABLY, people will not pay money to see it in our lifetimes.

I don’t think there is too much to fear considering costs, a small actor is much cheaper than a lot of technology, time and effort

  • @actinglessonslearned

I thought the same, until recently, when the producers requested to scan background actor’s images for A.I., pay them one flat rate, then use their image on anything, without consent, in perpetuity with no further pay.

Yet, when AI art is putting small and talented artists out of commission, everyone wants to have the attitude that it’s “revolutionary” and “artists need to adapt to times to keep their jobs” You will realize whats at stake when AI tries to replace you.

I hear you Grimmo, I’m not a proponent of A.I. taking jobs, at all. I’m concerned for what the future holds for everyone.
