I think it’s all about preparation. I haven’t watched any of your videos because, I just happened to stumble upon this one today. From what I heard from this video you didn’t have a bathroom and that’s where the problem begins. I tried van life for the first time when the pandemic hit. I wanted to try it out first to see if it’s something I like then quit if I didn’t. I bought a small ford explorer and installed the very basic things, pretty much a fridge, place to cook and a place to sleep. After 2 years of van living, I realized it’s 100% the lifestyle I want but needs major upgrades. So I bought a Mercedes sprinter van, long body, high roof and and specifically dually rear tires so I could carry more weight. I definitely don’t want to go to fitness centers anymore for bathroom use, so I’m installing a full shower and toilet inside. I don’t want to go to laundromat to wash my cloths anymore so I installed a washing machine. I have 80 gallons of water and 30kilowatts of electricity, basically unlimited electricity and this is just the beginning. I’m basically building an apocalyptic van. Long story short, van life is all about preparation. We have both lived the van life for at least a couple years yet I have the exact opposite reaction about it from what you have. I guess to each their own.

Is selling the only thing you can do? There are colleges that offer seniors low cost fees for credit where you can earn a degree in any field. It will open you up to many more opportunities. Selling is hard. You may need to rethink your line of work. Try to find a job with benefits in the public sector for instance teaching or even sanitation that comes with a life long pension and medical benefits plus a TDA. Then you can be secure for life.

@@WillandRambo I am a man and I hate dogs but love cats. The reason I hate dogs is largely because they kill about 50 people per year in the US and severely injure over 100,000 people per year. Their victims are mostly small children. Dog owners are mostly irresponsible a holes that do not properly control their dangerous animals. In addition, dogs are dirty, disgusting, creatures that make way too much noise. I was attacked by a dog when I was three years old. My sister was attacked when she was seven and suffered injuries to her face that required multiple surgeries.

Your situation is very similar to mine on several fronts Because of my travel for work I've neglected my other business and it's going downhill I do have a van a camping van and while I don't want to live in it I would like to take it out for short trips camping and I still don't see any problem with that because I'm not living in it long-term But your points about the challenges of living in a van are well taken In my case I hope to do a lot of backcountry traveling because it's an off-road van Thanks for the video

If you do a good van fit out you can add a very comfortable shower and toilet. Cooking and food prep isnt that hard with forethought, but its not for everyone. Travelling is great but again it can get old, especially alone with no one to bounce off. Soumds to me like your not an active person.

I've been living in a truck camper just over a year now I move every 2 weeks I see vans come out for the night and then leave in the morning I don't know what you guys do all day but it's sure going to be expensive if you don't stay in one spot no eating out that's very expensive always cook your own meals I don't think there's anything wrong about living in a van as long as you do it the right way I don't like moving often because I have too much to load and unload

Thank you for your honesty, that is what I look for when watching KZread videos. The only other van-life KZreadr I watch and like is Nomadic Introvert. I've only watched the two of you KZread videos from the oldest to the newest videos. I am normally turned off with the others and stop after the first video. I am an extreme introvert who works from home and yes, van life does have somewhat of an appeal for me, but it is something I couldn't do right now because I care for my 85 year old mother. I want to learn in case I am forced to be homeless due to the rising cost of mortgages/rent everywhere. I have a beautiful 2022 BMW x4 m40i that is pretty roomy and I would live out of there since it is paid for, if push came to shove.

Not everything has to be a full lifetime commitment. You didn't marry the van life, you dated it for a while and then you move on to love again, so to speak. It was a valuable life experience in the end and the takeaway is what you learned along the way. Enjoy your life and new experiences. Keep safe.

I think the biggest negative imo is no space to stand and walk around. If you have to crawl or crouch in the interior the entire time, then it's a no go.
