Started with a video showing a small custom change to a 2016 Triumph Bonneville T120 where I changed the custom exhaust for a more brutal sounding Gasser Customs exhaust, so that others could compare the difference. I then started the very detailed log a a Honda CX500 Cafe Racer project.
My aim is to deliver regular videos of this project, as well as other items of interest to do with motorbikes. I will throw in the odd how-to-do video as I go along, and if the stars align, I may also post some videos of things related to my real work and name tag - The Odontologist.

Whats with the awful soundtrack. Has someone died?
Was that a comment or just your arse cheek flapping? Is this a smart- arse comment or was yours?
❤
It's the small details that are so helpful. This series is my favorite. I have 6 more cx500/650s to build. There are 51 various bikes in my shop to build. I think I will rebuild all the CX motors together, since now becoming so familiar.
I'm in the midst of rebuilding one of 6 CX 500s. I'm using a two part paint, a hardener and base so to make the motor impervious to gas. I did initially vaporblast the motor in one piece before disassembly. After disassembly, I re-vapor blasted a few parts before painting. Vapor blasting is an essential tool in my shop. This video is a great help to us learners.
How does that float bowl test work? Id like to try that on my gl500
Колосальна робота виконана майстром своєї справи😮,бажаю успіхів надалі та здоров'я і миру.❤
How do you get the airpressure in the forks? I dont now how to mesure the airpressure or even how to fill it?
7:15 before the end- what is that white plastic tube? It look like something you put in the Fork?
@tman4923.Pre-load spacer made from pvc pipe.
@@TheOdontologist ah you dont put any air in the fork? you have this instead?
Like watching paint dry
And yet....you did. Now go watch your own paint dry Jorge.
This helped me. Thank you.
Nice video! Now I have the same build. And I'm just fixing the rear wheel. I didn't notice anywhere in your video that you addressed the geometry of the rear wheel. My procedure was the same, but I have a problem with the fact that the rear wheel is a bit slanted. Can it be compared somehow?
Very good, thanks.
super helpful, used it to replace my indicator on my 2020 bonnie t100. same set up
Can you tell me your to find the copper threaded connector amd the temperature sensor for the radiator ? The two connectors you showed at the end of the Video
great vid.. Can you confirm if that MOSFET reg is genuine? seem to get a lot of phonies. Also what size wire is needed for battery to ground connection? cant seem to find anything - just 6mm2 needed for positive side. cheers!
Same for negative would be a wise choice. As far as reg/rec...I genuinely purchased it. How would one know if it is genuine? And what does genuine really mean? So I can't answer your question.
Thanks for the video and all your hard work.
Excelent job!...can you say to me ..the pait?..what is it??tankns and salute you from Uruguay!
Gracias @1975jmb. The paint is Caliper Black gloss spray can paint. I can't remember the brand. Saludos.
thank you, first youtube video I've found that shows a rebuild on the Honda TRAC fork system! Nice work! Were you able to find a rebuild kit for the TRAC parts?
@stevefletcher2334.....Partzilla online
Do you know how I locate the rev counter. I have a motoscope that needs to be connected to the rev counter. Thanks for your time
On the front wheel and fork. Your set up may be different than mine so you have to get creative.
@@TheOdontologist thanks for the reply. I meant the wiring but I think I found the answer. Great work and I love watching your videos
Hi. I did the same thing on my cx but i noticed that you can move the pointer cam without unscrewing the main bolt. Thoe this thing is normal? thank you
Thanks for the video, Greetings from San Diego,California
I love the island music. Joking aside, you made that very simple. Thanks
i would like to have the dimentions of the flanges front and rear weel or an adress where i can buy some, nice video!
Hey bro! I have a 1983 model cx500 I was wondering where the best place is to order a coolant system seal kit is ? Do you know what the biggest/widest tyre I can run on the back is as well?
nice video. My jets there is no numbers on them ;)
Looks like you've also my favourite sports car in your collection TR5 or 6 Pi ?
That was a great video well explained I'll be pulling my cx apart this weekend to do same job thank you mate 👍
Thank you so much for your excellent video and instruction of the cx triple-quad bypass. I completed the quad bypass on a CX650C and it turned out excellent. Also eliminated the exhaust H-Box and replaced the carbs. Runs and sounds great. Thank you again.
Goodjob
Thank you for doing this series. I watched your videos a few times before doing my 650T and the information was exceptionally helpful!!
I find 0:07 your videos, very informative and helpful but I do have one question for you, as I am also in the process of rebuilding my carburetors. Like you I would also like to do away with the original screws and fit Allen bolts can you remember what sizes you used please. Happy new year
Hi Podgy. You can get screw sets on ebay for about $50 AUD including shipping, but this link will give you a link to the sizes. Use antiseize if getting stainless screws to prevent galling. Cheers. www.cx500forum.com/threads/screw-size-list-for-carbs.15052/
Just replaced mine with no problems following this video so thank you for posting
Nice video. Think i will do this on one of my hondas 👍. Any updates after 4 years on how it worked out?
Runs like Swiss clock.....or like a Japanese Honda. Its especially useful when idling on very hot days.
Bonjour, ou je peux trouvé ce kit jantes ??? S'il vous plaît, merci

I have a similar issue, although it’s my right cylinder that’s not firing. The bikes wiring was torn apart, but I get spark in both cylinders. The carbs have been cleaned and synchronized. But the right cylinder only runs for a little bit when it’s cold. After a few seconds it chokes itself out and the right cylinder is dead. If I really get on it, the right cylinder will start to fire, but only at the top of the rpm range and not very smooth. Any ideas? Compression test went well, 151psi in the right cylinder, 149 psi for the left cylinder.
What’s up with the welding?
What a wonderful sound, why my family just don't understand me
I got those on my thruxton 900. The bike became a monster. Sold it unfortunately when i was moving countries. Came wait to get my hands on one again!
Quick question. On the introductory picture there is jets a jet needle an idle air screw an emulation tube and a cirletrical double sided tube looking thing. What is the name of that double sided tube looking thing ? What does it do? And most important, where does it go? I ask because I have just one extra part. That part. Thanks.
If it's the small silver tube you're referring to, it may be the slide jet needle. Look at around the 13:30 mark and slow video down in settings.
Where can I buy the Larry's book?, Thanks
I should hopefully make light work of removing this on my CX650 Turbo when I do it. I have a great electric Dewalt impact gun which apparently makes it so much easier without having to remove the clutch cover and locking the drive. Wish me luck. ☺
Another tip I picked up. The way you put the flywheel on with the drive gear.. Makes sense to take it off with the drive gear too would you agree?
Those pulse generators don't need taking off if I'm just changing the stator right? Edit : just watched again, the flywheel is attached to the pulse coils. Ready to drop my 650 turbo engine
Very clear, thanks. About to drop the engine in my 650 turbo as the stator ac outputs are 7,7 and 5v! Really not looking forward to this so wish me luck 😂
This video series is definitely getting some love on the Silverwing 500/650 Facebook group. Without it, I don't think I would have considered even attempting to do this!
Can't take the rear cx650e drive shaft out
Not too sure what you mean exactly, but drive shaft that goes from rear of engine to final drive can only come out from swing arm after engine is out, towards front. Check this video....kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaucmLWDo9eaY8Y.html
I cant remove my rear drive shaft out after taking off bolts from each side
Thankyou for your video this will help me out
