Could you do this with a regular av cable instead of the trs jack?
Good music 👍
This looks cool, but I think the design would have actually made much more sense if the connector was on the top of the system and the games basically just added to its overall height when attached, if possible. Then it would look like a long Famicom themed Game Boy Color almost. :D
That seems to be the opinion of most folks. It would be cool to make a version like that as well. It basically is just the original mobo cut down slightly. Most likely the designer wasn't willing to go as far to redesign the board for vertical look.
C.R.E.A.M. 💵 💵 y’all 😂
Thank you 😊
I love good hip hop and that was cool to see that in there, especially with that old Method Man pic. I definitely cracked up at that one! I also like the Contra music with the hip hop ish beat 👍🏻
I had that same dilemma at a retro game convention looking through a bin of cheap Famicom carts, wondering what they were and whether I could play them. Helped a bit when there was some pictures on the label, or maybe a scrap of English, but so many were just kanji text.😄 4:13 Wouldn't mind that one, Rockin' Katz is SO expensive in NES cart form.🤑 Been debating on getting more Famicom carts, actually a lot of places that make affordable tasteful reproductions with English patches, graphical fixes, and gameplay mods. A neat one I saw was that Chinese Famicom FFVII bootleg with bug fixes and a graphical overhaul to make it look more like the PS1 original.
Rockin Katz has gotten up there for the NES for sure famicom is still an affordable option at the moment at least. Yes the reproduction carts are getting quite good i may have to check more of them out. thank for the suggestions.
Nice to see a nudie game that isn't Majong, Poker, or Puzzle based.😁 Reminds me a bit of The Mojon Twins games out of Spain, as they don't mind getting a bit saucy. I'm pretty sure adult gamers will be buying them so no worries.😉 Yeah a bit on the high side of prices, came across Virtual War Zone a Virtual Boy physical homebrew for sale that was also quite pricey. I think given retro market sales constraints you have to offer a cart-only option, as well as a ROM file option for users that employ flash carts as their primary game storage device. Then you have some pricing gradient for an increased customer base, rather than the pitfalls of the limited run model.
Its not too bad it can be a little janky in spots but its actually pretty fun. That is a good point i think i would end up benefiting the developers as well.
Very cool kit, well done.🙂 I like that horizontal version coming up since that is more ergonomic to me. I think a right angle cartridge slot connector would be good to get rid of the sunroof lol, but somebody has to make those first. Had to look up that RGB Blaster, that KRIKzz sure makes some neat things. Looking back it is amazing how few handheld consoles had AV output ports Egs. Nomad, PSP... uh I can't think of any others.🤔
Thank you very much! Yes the kit is really nice. I still prefer the current layout. I feel the horizontal version is too small it doesn't use the original famicom buttons which is part of its charm in my opinion but I know many folks prefer the gba style layout. I agree there should be more handheld with video outs for connecting to a TV as an option. 👍🏻👍🏻✨️
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Oh I missed that point about the original buttons, I can see how someone would prefer that.🙂
Gone in hoping to see some Sufami prices (hence the title) but it mostly was Famicom :(
0:51 i thought it's minus infinity because of the intro HAHA
That Retro Game Camp store used to be a couple of houses to the right in a basement shop (I think currently there is some maid cafe down there lol) Somebody working as a composer for video games once told me that place still has some of the original chip-tune development hardware from the Famicom. Not sure if they are allowed to sell this, and what even the point is of them having it lol
Oh yes, the dungeon as they used to call it, unfortunately, it didn't survive the pandemic. It was a cool little shop. I didn't know they had sound development hardware there, but it wouldn't surprise me. Many shops have rare items like that, not for sale, just for history and more like museum like pieces. Did you used to live in Tokyo?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB yeah I thought as much! Hidden treasures everywhere. I am currently living here, but was here in 2019 as well. that's when I visited the "Dungeon"
hi how about AN-505?
As far as I know the an-505 is balanced OK
Nice browse through the shop! I am very much in minority, but I like Wrecking Crew quite a bit! Always thought it was fun knocking down walls with the hammer…!
Bjornh ! it's been a while. Yes man wrecking crew is an awesome game and has really classic cart art 🎨 I love smashing in a good wall here and there too 😀 thanks brother hope you are well
Thanks, I’ve been away from work for the whole month of July, going back to the office tomorrow! It’s been a restful and comfy summer for me. I did buy a handful of games from a cousin, played Power Blade for the first time. Really good action game with sweet Megaman-ish music!
Makes me kinda wonder if some of these stores sells homebrews or romhacks of any kind OR... chinese pirates. : P
Yes they do sell some of thoese indeed. I've also picked up quite a few independent famicom games in recent years.
Excellent video! Really nice to know what kind of games these are. Tsuppari Wars 2 is one I’ve never heard of, surprised to see a fighting game so clearly inspired by the Kunio-Kun games! I borrowed the PAL version of NY Nyankies back in the days. I found Rockin Kats to be decent, although not in the same league as the systems best.
Glad I could help! Tsuppari Wars was actually really cool and I'd like to give it some more time especially with 2 players. Rockin cats was one I never heard of really enjoyed as an average or little above average action game
Scruffy back in action get those games
Getting back into it after what feels like a long hiatus thanks brother
As a Famicom games collector, I can definitely say that "Ai Sensei..."is the rarest cartridge among these games and one of the most wanted for collector. Back in 2018, I saw "Ai Sensei" on the shelf at Surugaya in Kyoto for 7000 Yen and now, it is skyrocketing to 26000 Yen. I regret that I didn't grab it back then.🥺😅
Ai sensei is an interesting one, for sure. It seems like so much has changed since 2018 I remember finding all kinds of really good deals now it's getting harder to find them. Ai sensei's box it pretty interesting too don't you think?
Solid video Scruffy! Was good to see some lesser known Famicom games 🎮 👌 keep em coming!
Thanks mate I'm glad you enjoyed it. What famicom game was your favorite?
Thank you for another awesome video 🎉
Thanks for watching!
We did get NY Nyankies in the states, it was released as Rockin Kats on NES. It is one of the rarer NES games to own, and often goes for hundreds. The Famicom version you found is vastly cheaper.
Sweet man, I may have to grab it before it gets too expensive over here. Rockin cats 🐈 I'll have to remember that one
I’ve been buying a lot of Famicom games instead of the super expensive US versions. I got Seirei Densetsu Lickle (Little Samson) a few years ago for maybe $100 (now it’s probably over $200) which it’s like $2k or more in the US! I also go for the English friendly exclusives too which can be a lot of fun. Going to be streaming some of these games hopefully in the near future. Great video Scruffy and keep em coming!!
thats toki 5:40
That's the name-a-roonie 👍🏻✨️
The NY Yankees famicom game on eBay goes for $70-130 USD loose. In NA the game was called Rocking Cats and loose gods for around $250 USD. So $45 look is an amazing price. I’d buy it for that price if possible. Wink. Wink.
Yo that's cool it didn't come up when I searched for the nes version. That's cool just another title that is a better deal here in Japan. For the moment anyways 😃
I tried to find a NY Yankees FC CIB, $468. Yikes.
Yes it ain't a cheep one that's for sure 🤑
I'd definitely give Nyankies a try. I'm always game for a platformer with any sort of novel game mechanics. And I'd say the Bionic Commando-esque grapple in a cartoony character platformer qualifies as fairly novel. 🤔 I'd love to see more of these, perhaps even some SuFami games at some point? 😉👍 (After all, there's like a thousand _Japan-exclusive_ SFC titles alone, it's a biiiiig library!)
Yes I find this much less frustrating than bionic commando. And I will definitely explore some of the super famicom library at some point 👍🏻✨️✨️✨️

Konami released a mini version of the PC Engine/TurboGrafx in 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurboGrafx-16_Mini
The pc engine mini is a really cool classic console. 😎
Hola amigo una pregunta este mod me puede funcionar para un top loader nes te agradecería tu respuesta ?
I've never tried it but it certainly should.
I wonder if this dual analogue stick design would go on to inspire any of our more recent controller layouts?
It definitely could have. An interesting topic to look into further 🤔
The HG-938 Famicom Handheld is HD and comes with two wireless handles for TV play.
That sounds like an exciting device 😃👍🏻✨️
🔌🎮🕹️👑
i'd buy this or build it. but at this time, can't seem a way to purchase either kit or prebuilt.
I think some people have been able to purchase through buyee or other proxy services.
Its vandalism... Ugh....ugh.. My heart.......ugh
Trust me this fami gets lots of love and kindness
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I hope so.... ugh.. My heart still hurt.
@@pseudonym93 a hug for your heart💓
@@ScruffyLookinRGB My heart is a little better......Ugh...
Would be way better if the cart slot was on the backside at the top pointing down. So while gripping the unit you're also gripping the cart.
That sounds like a cool idea. I wonder if gripping the cart may interfere with the game play tho🤔
i feel like ive seen quite a few portable famicom and nes projects lately, its super cool to see peoples different ideas and designs, and i myself, tinkering on a spare famicom board on and off for about a year, so many design iterations... seeing all these is very inspiring and giving me new ideas.. seeing the parts used like the lcd helps a ton!
Are there really that many famicom portables being made? That's cool. Id love to see how yours turns out. This is the first one I've seen that uses an actual famicom and plays real hardware there are many clone handheld devices out there that do the same but this is the first one I've seen that used an actual "famicom"
@@ScruffyLookinRGB ive seen on ebay one someone made with a similar form factor, it looked like it was made off of a famicom board since theyre so easy to get ahold of and mess with, but it was made for nes carts so it had to be a bit bigger for them. mine i plan to have a removeable back that i can swap between a famicom cart slot and an nes slot! just gotta design it... i love how this one is a kit for existing famicom boards so anyone could make one, and how it has a case to follow the red and gold controller design
@@yarunibun that sounds like a cool idea interchangeable to make it NES and FC universal Would love to see it once its finished.
Darn, looks like you started streaming shortly after I finally put my Switch down and went to bed... 🤷♂ 2:40 Oh man, sounds like I'm going to have to get a copy sooner rather than later if I want to be able to afford it. 😬 3:43 I would not have expected Metroid II to be so expensive. 🤔 4:15 "something wrong with that" indeed, especially with a splotch of dirt on the label... What the heck, BookOff?? 🤨 4:55 I still need to get a boxed Kamigami no Triforce... I love getting a copy of Zelda or something, backing up the original saves with my OSCR, and then beating the game on those saves, or collecting missing items... You ever do something like that? 100% the previous owner's save on a used cart? It just feels right. 😌👌 5:55 Wow, I got a pristine complete-in-box copy of Magical Adventure 2 in an auction lot which included a cart+manual Magical Adventure 1, and the whole lot was like 5,500... I guess I really made out, considering my objective in buying the lot was mostly a really crisp complete boxed Star Fox. 😌 6:20 Oof, Rockman X box lookin' Famicom-age rough. 😅 6:41 Heh, Wild Trax... I have so many loose carts, bought them cheap as Super FX donors to make stuff like Star Fox 2... And then I ended up with a pristine box with everything _except_ the cart... So, I put the best of the donors in it and put it on my shelf. Who am I to argue with fate? 🤷♂ 7:17 2,300?!? Yes, you should! Damn, that's still one I need too... Have all the SFC FF, SaGa, and Seiken Densetsu games CiB... (Hell, I even have Hanjuku Hero...really fixin' to _complete_ that 'Square shelf'. 😉) 7:53 BRUH. You've never heard of Bulk Slash? I think pretty much every KZreadr doing retro Japanese game vids has covered it by now... The fan translation includes a full-on professional dub, due to how integral the constant voiced dialogue is to gameplay. Anyway, it's a mech piloting 3D shooter where the abilities/form of the mech are determined by which of the girls you team up with. (And that's a whole relationship _system_ as you might expect.) When I eventually get a Saturn, it's gonna be one of the first games I track down, along with Wachenröder. 8:51 At that price, I'd grab it _in case_ I got an X360 (or something backwards compatible)... Since I'm sure it's not going to be that cheap forever, and DoDonPachi is 🔥🔥🔥 9:42 My collection is tragically lacking in Kunio-kun games... 😢 10:25 Not bad prices for boxed Street Fighter II games, I would think. 🤔 10:44 *[Shakes fist at row of Derby Stallion games]* My nemesis! For a moment, I was surprised how few there were...then I remembered how many seem to get slipped into literally every auction lot... 😏 10:55 Wow, that little for Seiken Densetsu 3? (Trials of Mana, btw. SD2 is Secret of Mana.) 11:20 I'd swear these were going for more not that long ago. Have the Switch collections and remakes tanked the price or something? 🤔 11:44 lol, Yoshi's Mahjong... Hey, why the hell not? Nintendo makes mahjong sets after all! (I know, I have a set of tiles from like the '70s.) Y'know, I've still never played Yoshi's Egg or Yoshi's Cookie... 🤔 12:50 Imagine being the poor bastard who has to re-price all the retro games whenever the value of the yen gets too far out of whack... NOPE. 😵 13:40 A dirty, loose, FF1 cart...for the same price as a boxed Chrono Trigger? _wat._ 🤨 16:00 Get it! Oh man, I loved Adventures of Lolo back in the day. I need to get those for my NES collection... 😃 17:29 Well, NoA sent me a really cool patch for reaching World 9 in the watered-down American release included in Super Mario All-Stars...so yeah, I have, a bit. 😉 (God I wish I still had the patch... 😭) 19:56 I assume "FamiCom Land" is just an old reseller. I see custom back labels from used game shops on SFC games a lot. (Chameleon Club is a common one...the label has the original warning, but then warranty and contact info for the shop. They also sold their loose SFC games in a branded cardboard sleeve with a window cut out for the label... That's hella classy, and I'd like to find a game which still has it.) 21:57 That's a good deal. That's usually what the _case_ goes for...but _with_ a console? 🤔 (8,100 for an N64 with such a nice box is also pretty damn good too, ngl...) 24:36 PawaPuro! 🤩 lol, they've got most of the Wii versions there... PawaPuro Wii Ketteiban, PawaPuro 15, PawaPuro NEXT... 😂👌 25:15 Zelda Spirit Tracks 25:27 Oooo, the DS DraQue remakes... Huh, only DQV though? That's actually sparser than I'd have thought. Wonder if there's another cluster of DS DQ games elsewhere. 🤔 26:36 Didn't know there was a Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon for the Wii. 27:50 For a second there, I thought that might actually be the PS2 Rez.......peripheral. 🤣🤣🤣 29:29 Oh, nice, another Chunsoft "Sound Novel". 30:09 Adventures of Lolo! Much more fun than Wrecking Crew, tbh. Fun little adventure as always, stay scruffy dude! 😁👍
Sorry you missed the stream, man. I appreciate all the comments but it may take me a while to reply to them all. Yes Lolo is likely the better game for sure. You will have to wait for the proper video to see what one I walked home with👍🏻✨️👌Thanks for your participation man 🙏🙏🙏

I bought two 'junk' famicoms years ago. Also junk Dreamcast, Megadrive, PC Engine and others cant remember.. Oh yes, a SNES, N64, Gamecube.... All of them worked right away no problems. I think in Japan the meaning of junk is untested rather than broken.
Yes, that is one heck of a nice list of consoles you salvaged from the junk 😀 nice work. Exactly junk usually means they did have time to test it or don't feel the need to test it.
nice mod!
Thank you !
Love the idea. With over 1,000 Famicom games there’s hundreds that would fall into this category. The start of an awesome series!
JR, I'm glad to hear you say that. I hope you enjoy the next one too 👍🏻✨️
I agree!!!
"It only allows to be born in Japan" wwwwww
It a splendidly welcoming piece of software intended for the whole world to enjoy 😉
I like the finished project. But like you say, theres room for improvement.. iwould attempt to find a way to flatten the game connector so the game would just go up from the top making it all flat. The screens backlit so you dont gotta worry about the cart blocking the sun from the screen. Maybe even a way to get the cart on the back side. Maybe even a wifi nod using the nes operating system thats been being developed. Good soldering, good job, good music. Going back to my famicom disc system portable. Another week or two and i think ill get it finished. Be good
Yes that would be very cool to put the cart so that they go vertically would be a lot of work but it's still very cool. Wi-Fi mod would be awesome too . Hold Up Wait A Minute did you just say portable disk system?! I would love to see that👀🫢‼️
This 30 minute jam got me nodding my head to it
That is the homie DJ unknown you want to check out his band camp in the link below in my description he's an awesome artist check him out
Early revision Famicom? Is that the square A+B button model before the recall?
The famicom with the square buttons is the one that came out at the very beginning of its lifespan but then what I call the early revision is the one that has the regular circular buttons that doesn't have the FF on the label then the famicom with the FF on the label I call that the later version I hope that clears things up
3 years ago someone made a XL Game Man that uses the Famicom board in a 3D printed case. I import and fix Famicom consoles and made one for myself kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6uNvNmIcb3VeJs.html
Do a TurboGrafx16 or PC Engine mod next and turn it into a Supergrafx that runs Nintendo games. It might not be possible to do a project like It.
That is one heck of an idea PC engine games and NES games the almighty console😉👍🏻✨️
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Some kind of way they can run NES roms on the TurboGrafx16. They have Hucards they use called Turbo Blaster cards they port NES roms to.
