The white one was in a petting zoo. Don't know if its there to protect the other animals or as a pet-able animal but didn't seem very safe to me. It's name was Misty so I had assumed it was a female.

Hi is there anything I need to do before using alpaca fleece as the stuffing for my new mattress? I’m just going to wash and dry it and stuff it in raw I think

I love the look, feel and drape of alpaca yarn. I would like to make a vest with my yarn, would it be stable enough if I held it with a lace weight merino? Thanks in advance.

Than you very much, super informative. I am test knitting a pattern with a 70%alpaka/30% silk yarn. It is paired with a mohair yarn. If I would like to replace the mohair yarn, what would be your suggestion? I am thinking of a fine merino yarn? Thank you!

Thanks for the helpful videos! I am also an alpaca rancher (we have 10) and I was wondering if you know if the fibre (especially the better grades) can be stored more long-term in a vacuum-packed state? Is there any danger of the fibre being permanently kinked, bent or broken? Thanks! 😀

What % is a good blend alpaca to wool?

Do you have a video of how you separated the bale before you started using the hay dolly?

  • @goldenyearsacres9163
    @goldenyearsacres91635 ай бұрын

Girrr, I thought you were going to break out rge old plywood & pull strap( or chain) method. I was waiting to see how yoy "manhandled" the bale onto the plywood. It might work for a stocky man, but for a 5'5" petite frame lady, that isn't happening. So now to find a bale dolly or preferrably, something that will work with my RTV.

I started crocheting about 3.5 years ago. I fell in love with alpaca, and I use alpaca blends in sweaters.

Hi Tashia - I've recently started following you as I'm learning to process and spin alpaca fleece. I love your videos and find them really helpful. Do you know what's happened to @thelooseend? I wanted to make the picker that you linked to but can't find the website anywhere. I like the simple design and the not-so-bent nails. Cheers Cx

Plus with blocking the fibers grip each other & in a way that’s memory. Since it’s not superwashed it has the scales to block really well, Have also made 100% alpaca socks & never had a problem with them either but I also knit them with 1.2 mm needles & tend to knit tight stitches, though I do have pairs that are color work socks made with 1.5 mm needles but never had an issue with them stretching out.

Weird I’ve never had a problem with using baby alpaca with two color brioche & two color brioche cable stitching.

This is very helpful since I am about to embark on spinning for a sweater. My plan is to blend my alpaca fleece 75% with 25% Finn. What do you think of a Finn blend, and this percentage? This Finn has lovely crimp, but I haven't seen seen Finn used with Alpaca anywhere. Thank you for your podcast. I just found you and hope you are still around. I have a few Alpaca fleeces and will be using your information for a while.

This sounds like a good blend. I made a handspun Finn sweater and it has some pulling but has worn beautifully over the years, and is soft. I went with 3-ply.

I have a girl that is one year old. Born here on our farm to her momma everything has been great and normal. We just brought home two other yearlings from another farm and it made her very curious and a little more clingy to me like kinda she was checking in with me more and seeking me out more. I also try to desensitize my group with touching but she was actually seeking being pet. And it was getting more increasingly over the days then yesterday she started bumping and nibbling and then last night after chores she started trying to jump on me like she does her momma. I clearly firmly corrected these behaviors on similar ways I have seen her mother correct her so it was good to hear you say that’s what you do. But I instantly thought oh no did I over pet her!? And not I am all panicked

So in theory if you raising alpacas for the fiber too make clothes the quality of feed you feed them will determining the quality of fur the alpacas produce. ?

A friend gave me one skein of super bulky 100% alpaca 80 yards. Everything you said is so helpful but I still don't know what to do with this. I wanted to make something and give it back to her and she's allergic to any acrylic. It sounds like the best thing as a shawl but yes. Can you help

You should be able to fit a card between the licker in and drum teeth. It sounds like your teeth are intermeshing. You would get enter results with a bit more space.

Hello from Latvia! Thank you for all that amazing information. I'm just planning all things and expenses that I need, to start my own small alpacas farm (3- 4 alpacas at the beginning). So I wonder-could you say, approximately, how much yarn can get from 1 alpaca? Thank you so much....
