    Sucks about the rut. Next time once stuck you can try standing the bike up on the rear wheel with some throttle and pulling, usually you'll get better footpeg clearance in a wheelie, even if not moving! If nothing else, getting it standing vertical lets you wobble it side to side to grab the sides of the rut and launch out the top/side. Or when entering the rut, trying to loft the front end through the deep parts and stay light on the the bike, but above all keep the throttle on and a little more momentum than is comfortable, especially when you can see how the rut tapers off on top from everyone else's footpegs grinding! I like your approach the lap after though, staying out of them is easiest of all :D I'll see you out there with mine shortly!

    @@edfessler is that really? I've never driven it and I'm planning to buy it. You honestly really didn't find controlling things on a screen in a moving car distracting at all? When I look at my phone while driving I completely lose awareness of everything around me and I'm petrified of what's going to happen if I get that car. And solution in my mind is to set everything up before starting the trip.

  • @edfessler
    @edfessler2 күн бұрын

    @@raspas99 No, it does not bother me at all. Even in a regular car if you change the radio station or adjust a control you have to look over to operate the control. Also most all cars have some sort of screen now. The only thing I would change in the Tesla is to have a stalk on the steering column for windshield wiper control instead of on the screen. It does have a button for a single swipe, which is helpful. At that point it has a quick popup that allows to quickly change the setting, aside from the regular setting on the main screen. Aside from that, one very positive thing is that almost any function or control allows you to use voice commands, so in many cases you do not have to use the screen at all. And of course if you have it on Autopilot or full self driving then you are at much less risk to use the screen for things.

    6.5.24 Looks like another mudder, maybe should have passed on this one. Do you stay overnight at the track or do you make the drive in the morning? Do you have to get up early? How many miles are you willing to travel? Good start, like to see the Stark beat the gas bikes on the start. Great video recording. What power level were you using in the mud? Only 4 guys in the old guy class. Do you make back you entry fee? Do you prefer a tight or more of an open course riding the Varg? 3 tip overs before lap 2 completed, is the Varg getting heaver? Do you like not having to change batteries like in the KTM? Ed, you got yourself stuck really good again. Use some muscle and lift that Stark Varg out of the rut. Good placement of the camera to watch you get unstuck. You were sitting there for a long time. I see why this video is 2 hours plus. It was nice of those 2 guys to help you. In my opinion I think you have the best video. Front, back, track map and positions.

  • @edfessler
    @edfessler10 күн бұрын

    Yes, it was definitely a mudder. I had a technical issue the week before the race. My phone had a software update last week and it caused me to not be able to connect or upload data from my GPS watches. I think the new version of the Zepp app that is used to get the data has a bug in it. A friend of mine helped me and it took us 3 days to find a work-around. Customer support for the watches was zero help. After all that work to get them to function properly I was more motivated to actually go to the race and use the equipment. But I think I am going to make sure my next race is a dry one! I got up in the morning to go to the race. Usually I am leaving about 6 or 7 in the morning. But since we had all the rain they let us know they would delay the race for 2 hours, so I got to sleep in. I like races that are less than a 2 hour drive, but on a rare occasion I will drive about 3.5 hours. This race was particularly exhausting. I’ve recently been told I have exercise induced asthma (I think I have always had it). I kinda put some things together after I realized that when I sometimes get altitude sickness when I snow ski, the symptoms are the same as what I sometime experience when motorcycle racing. By the time I drove home I was really feeling terrible. I was using 35 and 40 hp for the race. For muddy races sometimes 35 hp is better for more control, but on this race I tried both and did not seem to have a big preference. Only the Expert racers sometimes race for money. I have never made back my entry fee. We do this for fun! :-) The Varg did get heavier in the race from all the mud accumulating on it. I could tell when riding it. Of course any motorcycle racing in these conditions including gas bikes have the same issue. It is nice not having to change batteries. At my previous race at Lee Farms I only beat the next racer by about 50 seconds, so if I had to swap a battery I would for sure have dropped 1 position. I think the Varg foot pegs were dug into the side of the rut when I got stuck. There was no way to lift it out for sure! Going backwards seemed to be the best way to get it out. Thank you for the compliment on the video. I usually try to think of something new to add to the video, but I think it is enough work now that I am at my limit. :-)

    5.10.24 Ed, were you tired, worn out on lap 3? Do you get up early and drive to the event or do you leave the day before and stay overnight? How many miles are you driving? This event was a long time riding event. The Varg held up good. Were you riding at 45hp and 100 regen? Were you shifting the Varg between modes? Nice post race interviews.

  • @edfessler
    @edfesslerАй бұрын

    Yes, I was very tired. I got up early and drove to the event. It was a little over 2 hour drive. What make the race very tiring was the mud. Especially the areas that were sloppy wet with a rut in them. Just trying to guide the bike through the sloppy mud would wear you out. I was riding the Varg at 40 hp and never switched. It might have been better to bump it down to 35 for the muddy conditions. I may try that if a race is really muddy again.

    Thanks Chuck. I had 2 cameras on tripods and one camera operated by a friend of mine. She did a good job on the starting line. Conditions were extremely slick in some areas. Very tiring as the race went on. I’m not sure what happened to Bill T. There was not a difficult hill or anything where he pulled off. I am guessing maybe mechanical trouble. Bill T, are you reading this and can enlighten us? :-) I was the only Electric Bike again. Maybe one day another Electric Racer will join me! I am not 100% sure when my next race will be. I just did races 2 weeks apart and with taking 3 to 4 days to create each video it is a bit much on the time commitment. Maybe a race 3 weeks from this one. I’ll play it by ear.

    5.2.24 Ed, you smoked the gas bikes off the start, that back looking view was great, but then let a few by on the first turn. How are you liken the Varg? Heavier than the KTM. What power is the Varg set for 40hp? Are you using front and back have brakes yes? Conditions look good, no mud to deal with. Can go a lot faster on the flat open ground now. I like the narration of the action. Do you have the 80hp model? Were you the only e bike there? Seemed like people were liken the Varg. Good after race interviews. You made good use of the battery. When is the next outing?

  • @edfessler
    @edfesslerАй бұрын

    Hi Chuck, Yes, I was aggressive off the starting line, but backed off in the first turn. Since racing this bike is still pretty new to me, I figured that I was not going to be too aggressive. I love the motorcycle and really enjoy riding it. It is heavier than the KTM electric that I have been riding. It does not feel heavy when riding it, but if you fall and have to pick it up, you’ve got to put some extra effort into it. It is taller as well, so it is not quite as nimble as the KTM Freeride, but in most other ways it is better. Better suspension, power, range. I was running the bike in 40 hp mode most of the time, which is mode 3 on my setup. I have recently been riding the bike in 45 hp mode when I ride in areas that have very hilly terrain. It seems to be a bit better to just have that extra power quicker in the throttle turn for the hills. Both front and rear brakes work well and I am using 100% regenerative braking, so that helps with left hand and arm fatigue since you are just adding some braking power to what is already there. I have the 60 hp model. For me 60 hp is more power that what you could ever use riding off-road, so the 80 hp model would be a waste. I was the only E Bike there still. One day maybe someone will join me. :-) There was a lot of interest in the bike in the pits and sitting on the starting line. Next race I am planning on is this weekend, so sometime late in the week I hope to have another video if all goes to plan.
