👎 for putting ads in the middle of a video. We pay for KZread so we do not have to listen to ads. So you get a thumbs down for putting an ad in the middle.👎👎

About 30 years ago, I attended an Aimee Mann concert in San Diego even though I was suffering from a raging case of the flu. She was that important to me. Still is.

Finally an interview that lasts long enough to get into the deep mind of Ben Edlund. He is too deep for main-stream commercial media, but bless him for hanging in there.

Im excited to listen to this, ive never heard it before. Joe(the character) may seem at first foolish, naive, unconcerned.. especially beside the very concerned Sarah.. what i came to love about him was his deep appreciation for everything around him. Humble things or activities become so special and savored. It makes me appreciate the gentle repetitions of my own life. Im so bummed season 3 was the last one.

What an interesting and telling interview. I wonder how that impacted the interviewer when he asked if he knew to ask him that. Like he answers with well, I am a professional, and kind of scoffed. I wonder what he meant by that? Was he asked a lot about that maybe? Or maybe he was always afraid someone would bring that up? It seems obvious as a question in retrospect. There are a lot of aspects of BMSR that have that hippie flower acid washed lyrics kind of vibe. Maybe this is what lead to the Tobacco project in general, him not liking being shoe horned in that psychedelic genre. As musicians I think we all struggle with that, people need to know where to put things, and that is inevitably going to get you grouped, while some might hate labels, or feel like they are different than the rest, but at the end of the day it is the sales clerk stocking the album and telling the customer what it sounds like, that makes that call. Thanks for sharing.

"There's an aspect to the ostensibly jaunty, cheerful piece of music that then suddenly starts to turn melancholy but w/ a much heavier lyric on top." If "A Good Man Is Hard To Find" were a song.

Randy is the man. Well he may be a fool but he's our fool went to the park took some paper along and that's where I wrote this song... every time it rains I tell myself that I don't mind it at all, but I do... Sail Away... Marie... Can leave her hat on. It's money that matters...the amazing dancing 🐻

I recently started to listen to her again after over a decade or so, I hate when people say she writes depressing songs and to be all happy and whatever, she is an artist a true one, her work is her life and its really helped me through a lot of moments even on a regular day her voice, words, and music soothes my spirit. So is wonderful

Man Jack Handey is a real genius because I tried writing my own Deep THoughts called "My Own Deep Thoughts" and they not super deep...maybe a couple of inches. ANd def. not as funny. But I do think Jack is some kind of spirit animal cousin of mine because we think about the world the similarly. Like if I saw a person falling from a skyscraper, I wouldn't think "Hey free dummy", but I would htink well hmm, there's an office space opened up with a good view now.

Growing up in the greater L.A. area I had the pleasure of going to 7 tapings of the Tonight Show. The ABSOLUTE best aspect of the 90 minutes were the commercial breaks when Doc and the band played/jammed. It's a shame that the band was rarely allowed to perform on-air. The Tonight Show band was fabulous!!
