I’m just an idiot that likes to modify everything and enjoy fabricating. I have a lot of project vehicles that I race, autocross, and off-road. I love it all. Motorcycles, Jeeps, trucks, sports cars, muscle cars etc. Now to decide what I put the LSX in……

Are you aware you can buy a direct fit cooler? Factory lines fit perfect, no cutting 😮
So you went with the stage 2, but no downpipe? Doesn't he recommend the downpipe? No hate, I'm just looking at the same tune and am curious
I have a CTS Turbo downpipe.
Irwin bolt extractor set grab one won't go wrong I've takin off rounded bolts with ease 😒,

Hi there quick question is truck has to be deleted before install connect tuner to truck? Will be waiting for your response thanks 🙏
No, you can run the tuner with everything still intact.
The only thing missing is a new engine and a new transmission.
They’re good for now.
I used to be a huge amsoil guy, huge… then the amsoil dealer died, so I bought Royal purple I do 5 quarts of Royal purple HMX and 1 quart of Royal purple HPS on my 2004 sierra 5.3 MPG went from 15.8 to 16.7, my tranny oil Avg temp was 194 with amsoil 188 with Royal purple. I’ll never go back to amsoil
That’s awesome and also interesting data. I’ve tried Amsoil in my motorcycles. I have nothing against Amsoil but my bikes don’t shift as well. I run Royal Purple in every vehicle I own. My Powerstroke, my Jeep, my turbo Mini, my R1, my Meanstreak, my Rokon, my cafe racer, my Bobber, and obviously my 5.3. Other people can do whatever they want. I’m sticking with Royal Purple.
It looks like these got discontinued, is there any other led kit you would use instead?

They looked better before.
Ceramic coating exhaust is not for looks though……....
@@recklesslyfestyle Sure it is for looks. I've had a few sets of headers coated professionally and every time it was for the looks. We're talking Hooker headers made from regular steel not stainless. But they shine not all dull looking. You're headers looked like stainless if they're a 304 there's no need to coat them they'll stay looking good. If I was trying to keep under hood temps down I'd wrap them.
I’ve never ceramic coated for looks. That isn’t the purpose of ceramic coating exhaust, it’s just an additional “benefit” if that’s what you want. I don’t care what it looked like. I recently ceramic coated my diesel downpipe and then wrapped on top of it. That was with the specific intention to control as much heat as possible.
very cool. I have a 2001 fz1. would they work do you know?
They’ll definitely work and you won’t regret it. Not sure of the bulb number on the FZ1 but it’s probably the same.
i wouldn't take a deep fryer to jiffy lube for an oil change .
Me neither.
Did you use the bypass?
The bypass?
Witch one did you order and how good was it long run I need to grab one
I bought the Tru Cool 40k. It was amazing. Even on a 100 degree day, pulling a load on long hills, trans temp didn’t get over 165 degrees.
So what happened? This isn’t the street legal version?
It is the street legal version but isn’t registered. I rode it from the vendor booth (where it sat the whole event) on sand to my Jeep and back to the booth. This was feet from the booth. You can see the SXS is still sitting on sand. They were out to get everyone for anything. 3 of the people I was with all got tickets for various things. They pulled me over in my truck also to make sure my temp tag was legitimate. Oh well, it made a cool looking video.
so not sure if you figured out the pvc heater situation yet and im also not sure its totally different from n14 to an n18 but when i fabbed an intake on my n18 i just left the heater unplugged and zipped it out of the way and haven't had any issues as of yet.
Yeah, I haven’t had any issues either. ECU didn’t seem to care even before I got a tune.
@@recklesslyfestyle alright cool beans! and i realized after i just posted that comment that i'm not even sure if i have the n14 or n18. the person i bought the car from had removed pretty much all the stickers and badges from the car. And im still very new to the mini world. or well anything aside from toyota or honda really. i know its a 2012 JCW but thats just about it and i can't get a straight answer from any forum or google search as to which engine itd have lol.
2012 is N18. JCW’s are awesome. I have the hypersport package. Which means I have all the JCW parts except the turbo and brakes. I’m upgrading both of those to aftermarket anyway, so that’s ok.
Spot the difference: There is none
It’s deeper in person. The video picks it up slightly. Not any louder though. Spools faster, so it feels better.
Hahaha, I don't recommend this, is that safe? ... Safe enough... Hahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
There’s no link for those led u got in the description

@@recklesslyfestylethank you can I also get a link for the corner lights the little ones by the high beams
I’ll try track those down. I bought them a long time ago. Back when I did the original HID headlights.
@@recklesslyfestyle ok thank u
after installing after market downpipe. did you get CEL?
Not initially, but yes. I got a tune to fix that.
I need to find one, cant pass emissions in CA with delete. Any keep their old parts?
That’s crazy. California emissions are ridiculous, these aren’t emissions related. I threw mine away.
You’re thinking of cat delete surely, noise generator does nothing
I know this is 2yrs old now, but I was curious about how Cerakote has held up? You have a bunch of good videos btw
Thank you. The Cerakote has been great. I’m actually going to be doing it on a downpipe for my Powerstroke next week. That temp gets a lot hotter, so we’ll see how that holds up.
@@recklesslyfestyle thanks for the info. It's hard to get good firsthand long term data on durability. Also having a hard time getting an answer on if it reduced radiant heat/underhood temps when used on exhaust.
It’s supposed to…. but I’m not sure. Maybe this time I’ll get some temps before hand. Not sure how helpful it will be with 2 hot turbos under the hood, but I can try get data.
@@recklesslyfestyle ok. Thanks I appreciate it.
That sounds way better! About time you got that fixed.
🤘
Might be a stupid question, but I see the purple wire for ignition but where did you put the black ground wire?
Mine didn’t have a ground wire. It’s grounded through the OBD2.
Awesome thanks a lot🙏
At the end of the video, a car pulled up behind you (blue with a white door) then it vanished haha. Nice work!
He’s very sneaky.
if you were just replacing the gasket, do you think it would be necessary to remove the fuel lines? or could you get it off just enough to replace the gasket
You have to remove the hard line. You would damage it if you tried.
What muffler ? And what rear lift kit?
Thrush welded muffler and Iron Rock Offroad long arm kit.
I'm looking to add just the blanket. Is that going to give me ongoing error codes? I have BimmerLink/Code to cancel it out but don't want to disable anything or have to keep clearing codes every time I take the car out. Do I need the O2 spacer if I'm not replacing the down pipe? Can I fit the factory heat shield over the blanket? Thanks for your patience, I'm new to this!
The blanket takes place of the factory shield. It works far better. I don’t believe the factory heat shield will fit over it, but you won’t need it anymore. It won’t throw any codes with the blanket. No spacer is needed for the O2 sensor with the factory down pipe.
@@recklesslyfestyle Thanks!! Happy roading!
Any error code when canceling ais?
No codes or issues at all.
Bro how do I get that decal?
My buddy @American_decals made it for me. He’s on Instagram.

Great video,, Is it triple locked?
Thanks. This one isn’t and is on ARB’s front and rear. My friend has one that’s Tri Locked.
Are these mini maxxs married to the first programmed ECU or can you use it on other trucks as well?
Yes and no. If you flash it on to your ECU it is married to that one until you flash it back to stock. At that point you could use it on another vehicle. So, unfortunately, if you have multiple trucks you couldn’t use the same tuner without flashing back to stock every time.
@@recklesslyfestyle Reason for asking is, someone is trying to sell me a used mini maxx. And I am no sure if they falshed back to stock or not, is there a way to tell?
Ask if you can connect it to your truck to verify. If it connects, asks you your vehicle, and what tune you’d like to upload, you’re good to go.
I bought one of these about 8 years ago and have not used it yet. I planned on doing a set of jeep turbine wheels, which I still have... Thanks for the video and the reminder. Now I know to pick up a mask and probably a hazmat suit before trying it out
Haha, yeah, the hazmat suit is probably a good idea.
If those are actually aluminum Crush washers, I believe they're more Ben likely more zinc than they are aluminum. But I would still use copper. I do not like the galvanic effect of putting aluminum or zinc. Exposing such an assembly to atmosphere or moisture is not a good thing. Copper is better at resisting the corrosion caused by galvanic action. There is a procedure for reusing copper Crush washers. I will not go into that with somebody who's admittedly a novice. I'm always surprised by the fact that I had two Chrysler 300C and they both had larger front rotors than these pickup trucks do with their big brake kit. Why did you put the different side rotor on the front than you did on the rear??
I also prefer copper. Definitely not a novice but not a pro as I don’t do this for a living. I did this swap during Covid. I had to piece everything together as no supplier had everything. Rear rotors were Powerstop, front rotors were Summit Racing. Different side?
Wheel size and offset
OE 17’s
how do you like the powerstop kit? i have been debating on purchasing for both front/rear
I have Powerstop on multiple vehicles. I’ve been really happy with their products. This was a huge upgrade switching to 2020 front calipers and SS rear calipers. The Powerstop Truck and Tow pads grab hard though.
What are your mpg’s now?
Mid 30’s I think. I’ve honestly never calculated it. Much better than my Jeep and Superduty, I know that haha.
@@recklesslyfestyle thanks. Just got a 2010 MCS and will def stage 2 it. Just liking my mid 30’s mpgs compared to 14 in my silverado but didn’t know if there was a big drop after the tune. 👍
The axle table was awesome
Indeed. I’ll probably build something like it to build my Superduty axles on.
Excellent job steve..... Looks sweet dude👍
Thank you.
Pro tip... Someone use steering wheel while someone lines up track bar mounts. Best way is to use steering to move axle/chassis <. .>
Yup. That’s what I did.
nice vid. what size is your rims and size of you tires. thanks
Thank you. Tire size is currently 205/45r17. It’s about time for tires, so I’ll be switching to a 215/45r17. Stock 17 inch wheels for now.
What coils are you running on your cts built mini
CTS Turbo coils.
What an awesome machine! It looks like the piston runs toward the back, I wonder if that adds torque? Looks like fun
It does. Possibly just for packaging/ground clearance? It’s a crazy machine. I wish you could have ridden it.
i'm not sure i understand this, will this H7 bulb replace all 3 lights? (low beam, high beam, and the little ones on the side)?
No, they’re all separate. I have LED’s in all 3 though
@@recklesslyfestyle any way you can send me the link for all 3? Great video btw!!!
Thank you. I will look for those and sent them over.
@@recklesslyfestyleAlso, how did you get the bracket to work on these headlights? or you didn’t use them? if not, how did you make sure the bulb is in place
I did use them. The LED bulb comes apart. You can slide the retaining ring off, secure it down with the spring bracket, and slide your bulb back in the center. You’ll feel it sort of snap in to place.
Question, the power cord that you attached to the solid purple wire has a red and black wire. I figure the red gets attached to the purple wire, where did you attach the black wire to?
Mine only had one wire to attach. If you have a red wire and a black wire, you’re red should be power and you’re back should be ground.
@@recklesslyfestyle thanks for the reply. I was able to download instructions from The Diesel Guys. It said to ignore the black wire. Hopefully I have time to install it this afternoon.

The slots should point forward so the hot wear dust is slung outward away from the brake, and they also keep the brake pads wearing flat, and keeps hot spots from grooving the rotor..!
Normally, but not on these rotors. The internal passages go the opposite direction from the external slots per the manufacturer.
