She speaks my mother tongue from Namibia, though she is from southern Namibia. The language is spoken by two minority groups called Nama (she is Nama) and the Damara people. Not sure how much you want to know about this, but please feel free to be specific. I must mention though the language is quite challenging even for native speakers. But you could also google "NBC radio damaranama now called kaisames" from Namibia. Let me know though.

If a person regards him/her as Damara or Nama is largely a matter of choice. The common belief is that light skin Damara/Nama speakers are Nama and the darker skin ones Damara. It's not as clear as that. Normally only the person involved can tell what they are. As for my background my grandmother was Damara and grandfather Nama. Regarding genetics/cultural similarities, I think one would first consider the purpose for which the info is needed, which will guide the process of finding the source with credibility to serve that purpose. Not sure if I'm being of assistance.
