The line was completely overhauled with continuous welded rail and all new US&S model 95 gate mech signals. Owned by the pioneer valley railroad company. The search light in the video was replaced with a triangle light signal. Trains run daily as the tracks are shiny

My grandparents lived in a house basically a block away from a rail crossing to the largest port city in my province. Whenever I visited as a kid, every three or four hours you could hear the horn of a long freight train passing over the level crossing.. and we were just close enough, with just thin enough walls, to very faintly hear the thud-thud, thud-thud of the bogies screaming by at the closest point. Having grown up in a city without any trains at all I was absolutely terrified, and I'd wake up crying and screaming with sheer terror. They've since moved from the house, but now.. now I wish I could sleep there one more time. Halving the volume of that first recording absolutely nails that sound for me, so thank you. Can't imagine what my dad would've felt.. his childhood home was quite literally right next to that same level crossing!
