These are beautiful scissors. May I ask how much you paid for them? I want to know how much I should spend on them.

I have just made the same coat and had the same difficulties with the incomprehensible description (which is often the case with Burda style patterns). So I first made a test piece of the upper part (neck, undercollar and dart) from an unexpensive fabric I had in my stash and I realized that it is an intelligent and solution to making a shawlcollar. With this sewing experience in mind, I added some notches to the pattern to get a better orientation. Only then I had the confidence to cut into my intended fabric, a wool and silk blend.

Silvia Hocks great idea to do muslin before cutting into an expensive wool! Often Burdastyle patterns have pretty horrible instructions.

Lovely wedding gown! I think you would look lovely in pants like these megannielsen.com/collections/bottoms/products/flint or these www.decadesofstyle.com/products/4004-1940s-empire-waist-trousers I know you design your own styles but I just thought something like either of these would suit your slight frame :) I don't think you need back pockets really unless you are doing a "jean" style of pant.

I bought this pattern recently and it seems they have changed the instructiosn and what all the seam numbers are!
The crappy scissors are no good.

Thank you! I use JUKI industrial sewing machine.
